The PEBEC Secretariat team held a Reportgov.ng platform training session with officials from the FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS), often known as the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) earlier today. The VIO team was led by Mr. Julius Iwuafor, the Head of SERVICOM.

On March 15,2022, European Business Chamber (Eurocham) President Mary Aderinola Ojulari, Ibi Ikpoki of the European Union, Igbuan Okaisabor of construction Kaiser, Esther Awoniyi of Eurocham Nigeria, Obi Mojakwu of Asseco Nigeria, and Seun Suleiman of Siemens Energy made a courtesy call to the PEBEC secretariat. They were welcomed by the Special Adviser to the President on Ease of Doing Business, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, and the PEBEC team.

Eurocham Nigeria is an association uniting the main European investors and corporate organizations in Nigeria. They promote trade, investment and exchanges between European businesses operating in the private and public sector entities in Nigeria.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss ways to collaborate with PEBEC on creating an enabling business environment and to develop ways to attract investors to Nigeria to do business.

PEBEC will continue to deepen the partnership with both the public and private sector – the ultimate beneficiaries of the business climate reform.

On March 10,2022, The Special Adviser to the President on the Ease of Doing Business, Dr Jumoke Oduwole and the PEBEC Secretariat team had a meeting with the Honorable Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba, Justice Yetunde Adesanya, the chair of the Small Claims Court committee, Mr. T. A Elias, the acting Chief Registrar of the LSJ and other key members of the Lagos State Judiciary (LSJ) to discuss progress update on the Small claims court reforms.

It is noteworthy that between 2018 to date, Magistrates of the Small Claims Courts in Lagos State have presided over 4,000 claims. The small claims courts are presided over by magistrates who hear and determine cases on debts claims not exceeding the sum of ₦5,000,000 (Five Million Naira).

The Lagos State Judiciary(LSJ) has been recognized over the years as championing effective access to justice for its citizens, including businesses operating in Lagos State.

The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council held its Second meeting on March 14, 2022, Chaired by His Excellency, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON.

The meeting provided an opportunity to present the mid-way 7th National Action Plan (NAP 7.0) report card to the Council and to seek the Council’s intervention towards the acceleration of the NAP 7.0 reforms.

NAP 7.0 is the 7th in the series of a 60-day accelerator designed to coordinate the effective delivery of priority reforms of select MDAs annually. expected to drive MDAs to deliver key reforms under 5 categories: 1) trade/port reforms, 2) automation reforms, 3) regulatory reforms, 4) legislative/judiciary reforms and 5) Executive Order 001/Reportgov.ng tracking and compliance.
