APPRECIATION: DIRECT DISTRIBUTION OF RELIEF MATERIALS FROM NEMA.

Dear All,

1. December 22nd 2023 marked a significant occasion as we gathered to witness the direct distribution of relief materials jointly midwifed by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Nigeria. This event stands as a testament to the crucial role NEMA plays in our nation's resilience and disaster response.

2. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to NEMA DG Mustapha Habib Ahmed, The South-East Zonal Co-ordinator Mrs. Ngozi Echeazu, Mr. Ezeani Nnanyelugo and other team members for their unwavering commitment to mitigating the impact of disaster in Aninri | Awgu | Oji-River Federal Constituency.

3. The strong partnership demonstrated by NEMA, working hand in hand with my offices and various stakeholders since July 2023, exemplifies the collaborative spirit required to address the challenges our communities face.

4. I want to express my deepest appreciation to all the stakeholders involved – from governmental bodies to non-governmental organizations, volunteers, independent observers, political, religious, and community leaders. Your collective efforts have made the relief distribution possible, emphasizing the strength that unity brings in times of need.

5. Equally, I extend my sincere thanks to the beneficiaries across Greater Awgu who braved all odds to honour this invitation. Your cooperation enhanced transparency, accountability, and democracy.

5. In conclusion, let us remember that we must look after one another in challenging times. Together, we stand resilient, facing, and conquering social challenges.

6. Thank you, and may the spirit of the new year continue to guide us in our efforts to build a better tomorrow for all.

TECH: CSO TECH INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME (CSO-TIP) ACHIEVES ANOTHER MILESTONE

Dear All,

1. I am thrilled to share a remarkable achievement within our TECH community — the CSO Tech Internship Programme (CSO-TIP) has reached a noteworthy milestone, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Rotr Priscilia Onwuakaradike for bringing pride to Greater Awgu.

2. In 2022, Ms. Chinaza joined the CSO Team with other outstanding youths as Campaign Volunteers, evolving into a beacon of hope for young individuals seeking opportunities in the tech industry.

3. Prior to my inauguration as MHR on June 12th, 2023, we launched the CSO Tech Internship Programme targeted specially at our pupils, students, and young people, as outlined in pages 17-22 of the CSO Manifesto [See https://rb.gy/m9p61b ].

4. In May 2023, drawing from her on-the-job training and experience at CSO Media, she seized the chance to participate in one of the most challenging Tech Internships with Ingressive for Good x DataCamp, themed initiative exclusively for women across Africa [See https://rb.gy/8m7u5r ].

5. Out of the thousands of applicants, Chinaza emerged as a Scholarship WINNER and the ONLY WINNER out of twenty-six (26) ladies from CSO TIP who applied for the Datacamp Internship.

6. Inspired by her sheer determination and grit during this long training, she received additional support, including a Laptop Personal Computer from my team, when her program faced accessibility challenges. And, for us, her journey to stardom just began.

7. Today, it brings me immense joy to announce the successful completion of a six-month internship (which started June 1st 2023) by our latest STAR of CSO-TIP, culminating in her graduation on November 2nd, 2023.

8. Our initial vision for the CSO TIP aimed at fostering a Greater Awgu where young and ambitious local/homegrown tech talents would mentor the next generation has now become a reality. Interestingly, we have achieved a one-year goal in less than six months. Many thanks to CSO Team and Partners.

9. Chinaza's growth came at a huge cost and investment, but who cares now counting our gains? To date, the CSO TIP has produced 26 Tech Graduates out of over 450 learners who we shall continue to direct and support in the coming year(s).

10. In six months, two of our daughters competed in the global stage and emerged victorious: while Ms. Ogechi Vivian Ofodile graduated from Cisco Networking Academy as a Cyber Security Expert [See https://rb.gy/1rjwn3 ], a few days ago, Chinaza graduated from Datacamp as a Data Analyst.

We promised our people growth.
We will deliver with your support.
We will never STOP this project.

Congratulations Greater Awgu.

NASS | AAOFC| 0033 MOTION ON:

Revitalization of Oji–River Federal Pilot Tannery

Status: Completed.

1. Yesterday, I presented a Motion on the floor of the House seeking to revitalise the Oji-River Pilot Tannery and it was seconded by Hon. Saad Wada Taura Representing Ringin | Taura Federal Constituency of Jigawa State.

2. The Motion was voted on, adopted, and referred to the House Committee on Science and Technology concerning funding provisions for its revitalization and upgrade to international standards in the 2024 budget estimates.

3. Recall that on page 25 of the CSO Manifesto, I proposed to aggressively pursue the revitalization of Oji-River Federal Pilot Tannery [See or Download Here https://shorturl.at/intR9].

4. In realizing this objective, I visited the facility in my first month in office and witnessed a devastating level of dilapidation added to a distressing backlog of unpaid gratuities to the retired workers.

5. I started making the move to revive the Tannery via a Motion Coded NASS | AAOFC | 0033 dated July 11th 2023 and a Motion Request Coded NASS | AAOFC | 0044 dated July 12th 2023.

6. These steps were documented and discussed during my First Virtual Town Hall Meeting after spending a month serving the constituency [ See https://shorturl.at/rzNOV].

7. The first phase of this cause is accomplished, in the next phase, my target is to make sure that the retired Tannery workers get their gratuities and other entitlements as quickly as possible.

8. Every step we take in the project is scientific and this philosophy will continue to direct our vision. The process to excellence is strenuous but I promised you sustainable development.

9. I especially wish to thank my brothers and Hon. Colleagues for contributing to this debate: Hon. Saad Wada Taura , Hon Pharm Nnolim Nnaji Nkanu East/West Federal Constituency,
Uchenna Harris Annie-Okonkwo, Rt Hon Inuwa Garba, and Hon Ahmed Idris Wase.

10. Many thanks to all the people who are contributing to this project with excellent ideas and efforts behind the scenes. Below are the details of the Motion:

Hon. Chijioke Stanislaus Okereke:

The House:

NOTES that the Federal Pilot Tannery at Oji-River in Enugu State, which was established in 1967 under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) for processing of hides and skin for leather products, has been abandoned for over a decade with a backlog of unpaid gratuities;

ALSO NOTES that recent reports have shown that the leather value chain is extensive, and leather products marketing is currently employing over 750,000 people, with about 500,000 workers in the finished leather goods sector, which has the potential to generate over USD 1 Billion by 2025;

CONVINCED that the revitalization of the Oji-River Federal Pilot Tannery holds great promise for job creation, economic diversification, reduction of high unemployment rate among Nigerian youth, skills development, sustainable livelihoods and reduction of social vices;

RESOLVES TO:

(i) urge the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology to conduct a comprehensive assessment and thorough evaluation of the abandoned Federal Pilot Tannery at Oji-River in Enugu State, and make funding provisions for its revitalization and upgrade to international standards in the 2024 budget estimates;

(ii) mandate the Committee on Science and Technology to liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure the revitalization of the Oji-River Federal Pilot Tannery and report back within six (6) weeks for further legislative action.

Debate:

Hon. Chijioke Okereke moved the motion on the revitalization of Oji-River Federal Pilot Tannery and it was seconded by Hon. Saad Wada Taura. The motion was voted on, adopted and referred to the House Committee on Science and Technology.

Hon. Engr. Chijioke Stanislaus Okereke - CSO (MHR)

NOVEMBER OF FOCUS: EYES ON THE GOAL.

Dear Constituents and Fellow Nigerians,,

1. As we breathe November, the gateway to our Thanksgiving Month, I want to express my profound gratitude for the trust you have placed in me as your Representative.

2. The past months have been a journey of dedication, hard work, grit, and relentless commitment to making our constituency a better place for all.

3. In 20 Weeks, we have laid a solid foundation for your dividends and my focus remains laser-sharp on systematic governance that would achieve greater milestones across sectors.

4. Top of our list, Education and Tech stands as the cornerstone of progressive societies, unfortunately, the enabling infrastructure is dead in Greater Awgu. However, I am resolute in my efforts to enhance our schools through steady facility interventions and expansion of ongoing tech programmes.

5. Similarly, I am committed to boosting economic growth by linking Greater Awgu to ALL her neighbours by upgrading our roads, building new bridges, and ensuring seamless internal connectivity. Our vision is a future where infrastructure paves the way for prosperity.

6. On the other hand, healthcare is not just a service; it's a fundamental right. I am determined to bolster our healthcare infrastructure, making quality medical facilities and services accessible to the most vulnerable.

7. I am presently engaged in processes aimed at improving agriculture and skill development. We will empower the youths to foster safer communities where peace is permanent and heinous crimes have no place.

8. The humble improvements you have witnessed so far are only a tip of the solid foundation we have laid for the rebuilding of Greater Awgu. Please share your concerns through the Constituency | National Office(s) and our Social Media Channels.

9. There are numerous challenges ahead, but with your support, I am confident that we can overcome them. I welcome you once again to November, FOCUS on finishing well.

10. Thanks and God bless.

I WAS AT THE 17TH DIOCESAN WOMEN'S CONFERENCE: READING OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS 2023 AT EMMANUEL CHURCH, UGBO, AWGU LGA.

1. On Saturday 28th October, I was with our mothers at Emmanuel Anglican Church Ugbo, Diocese of Awgu/Aninri for the reading of the Presidential Address by the President of Women Ministry: Mrs Ifeoma Chukwunweike, JP (Nnechichetara) themed "Rooted and built up in Him Col. 2:7".

2. Speaking at the event, I especially admonished our dear priests to be courageous in the discharge of their duties towards leaders, government, and politicians. I also had memorable moments with His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Bishop Benson Chukwunweike (Bishop of Awgu | Aninri ) enjoying his fatherly advice and blessings.

3. Scanning the back cover of the presidential address brochure, I was thrilled by the collage of Women Ministry Projects all domiciled in Greater Awgu ranging from Holy Child Schools Awgu, Zion Bakery Awgu, DOAAN Garri Isu-Awaa, and DOAAN Table Water. Functional and focused Enterprise!

4. These sustainable enterprises create direct jobs for the youths and sustenance for hundreds of families. I am proud of our mothers and as espoused in the CSO Manifesto, will always support your causes to the best of my ability.

CONDOLENCE VISIT TO FAMILIES OF AGBADA NENWE ATTACK

1. On Saturday 28th October, I embarked on a solemn mission to express my condolences and support to the grieving families of the Agbada Nenwe attack that occurred on September 9th, 2023.

2. Firstly, I paid my respects to the Traditional Ruler of Agbada Nenwe Kingdom, His Royal Highness Dr. F.N. Imo, to convey my sympathies for the tragic incident that befell the peaceful community.

3. In a deeply moving gesture, I visited each of the three families who had lost their breadwinners in the heinous attack. Taking moments to console them, I interacted with the widows, Engr. Prof. Mbah Gordian Onyebuchukwu (who lost his brother), and the children left behind by victims, gaining a profound understanding of their immediate challenges. Additionally, we visited the family of a survivor who had previously lost a leg due to a similar attack, showcasing the enduring impact of such violence.

4. Recognizing the weight of economic hardship prevalent in the country, my team and I are making concerted efforts to support these families as much as we can. It was indeed heartbreaking to learn that one of the widows put to bed a few days before the attack. And, I earnestly call upon the government at all levels and fellow Nigerians to extend their love and assistance to these bereaved families during these trying times.

5. In addition, I assured the affected families and victims of my unwavering commitment. I pledged to intensify my efforts in engaging the Federal Government, advocating for a comprehensive and meticulous investigation. This pursuit of justice is crucial to bringing closure to the aggrieved families, and I will pursue this cause through a pending motion on the floor of the House of Representatives.

6. While acknowledging the improved security situation within the axis, the State Government must double its efforts in adopting proactive measures to protect people and properties in the Greater Awgu region.

7. Recall that I previously issued a Press Statement condemning the attack while urging both the State and Federal Government to take immediate and decisive action to extend and guarantee adequate security to vulnerable communities, including Agbada, to put an end to these wanton killings that threaten the peace and harmony of our state [See https://shorturl.at/egFYZ].

8. Accompanied by a compassionate entourage, I was warmly welcomed by notable figures such as Chief Dr. B. N. Uzoigwe (Onowu), the Traditional Prime Minister, Chief Donatus Ndubuisi, the Palace Secretary, Chief Okoro Festus (Ekwueme) - Palace Treasurer, Chief Mba Rufus (Akuruouno), Comrade Ifeanyichukwu Mbude - President General of Agbada Nenwe and other members of Igwe's cabinet.

9. As we prepare to bid final farewell to the departed, our collective prayer remains that God provides solace to these grieving families and grants eternal rest to the souls of the deceased. Amen.

10. Ozoemena!

2. The exercise provided me with an opportunity to listen to the site engineer as well as identify specific areas for improvement, which will be communicated to the management for further action.

3. I believe that these key observations and a proactive approach to addressing these concerns will be instrumental in ensuring the projects continue to meet the desired standards.

4. I realised that due to vegetative cover, we underestimated the spate of damage going on along the route. Consequently, further intervention is being wheeled back towards St.Theresa's Catholic Parish, Obeagu with a series of grave gullies threatening the access road.

5. However, we will continue to engage with relevant government agencies for possible remedial solutions on the strip towards Oji-River as listed earlier pending a full-scale rehabilitation.

6. It is heartening to note your appreciation of this project, most importantly, the valuable feedback and positive remarks which will continue to play a vital role in driving the projects forward.

7. To share suggestions or should you require additional information or assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out via your four Constituency Offices at:

8. Thanks and God bless.
