As ancient Christian communities across the Middle East continue to shrink, Israeli Maronite Christian Shadi Khalloul is helping build a different future in Israel.

Shadi founded Mechinat Kinneret, a leadership program bringing young Christian and Jewish Israelis together to volunteer in agriculture, education and communities across the country, while preparing them for national service.

For Shadi, seeing Christians thrive in Israel is deeply personal. So is speaking out against antisemitism and defending the country he proudly calls home.

His story challenges assumptions and offers a different perspective on what it means to be a Christian in Israel.

A Chapter of Impact: Ambassador Michael Freeman Completes His Tour of Duty

On 7 August 2026, H.E. Ambassador Michael Freeman completed his four-and-a-half-year tour of duty as Ambassador of the State of Israel to Nigeria. From 2022 to 2026, his service was marked by partnership, innovation and a genuine commitment to strengthening Israel-Nigeria relations.

From agriculture and healthcare innovation to technology, entrepreneurship, education, football and youth development, Ambassador Freeman championed initiatives that created opportunities and brought people together. His work also included i-FAIR, interfaith engagement, support for Christian and Muslim communities, humanitarian initiatives, efforts towards direct flight, and many partnerships connecting Israeli expertise with Nigerian talent.

But beyond the projects were the people, conversations and friendships that gave them meaning. Ambassador Freeman leaves behind a legacy of bridges built, relationships strengthened and opportunities created.

The Embassy of the State of Israel in Nigeria thanks him for his dedicated service and wishes him and his family every success in the next chapter.
