COMPETITION.
Author; Ali Favour ifebuchechukwu Gillian Grace

In the arena of ambition, where dreams are made and lost
A silent war is waged,
where hearts are the ultimate cost
It's a battlefield of brilliance
where minds are sharpened and bright
Where the strong survive, and the weak take flight

We're conditioned to compete,
To outdo and outshine
To climb the ladder of success,
where only the fittest climb
We're pitted against each other,
Like gladiators in the fray
Where the prize is validation, and the penalty is dismay

But what's the true cost of competition? What's the toll it takes on our soul?
Does it drive us to innovate?,
Or does it make us lose control?
Do we compete to elevate,
Or do we compete to degrade?
Do we rise above the noise, or do we get lost in the charades

I say it's time to redefine the game, to shift the paradigm of our aim
To compete not against each other,
But against our own limitations and fears
To strive for excellence, not supremacy
To lift each other up, not tear each other down, through the years
So let's rewrite the rules of competition, and make it a journey, not a fight.

"LIFE IS A BED OF ROSES "

Having enjoyed luxury from her mother's womb, Evelyn didn't know how it feels to be in want as life seemed as a bed of roses to her.
Growing up as the only child, she was pampered and well taken care of by her wealthy parents, the received the choicest gifts and goodies, once she opens her mouth to make a request it will be delivered in double fold . In school She was infact worshipped like a goddess among her peers as she is always bringing goodies to be shared , this made her become selective ,she chose to become friends with wealthy children like her.
Being free to do whatever she desired without punishment for wrong doings she developed a very bad habit ,she talks to anyone as she liked and go as far as insulting her teachers but no one cares to punish her lest you face the wrath of chief Ezekwesili her father.

Evelyn continued to swim in luxury through out her primary and secondary education period,by this time she had been in many romantic relationship all ending awfully soshe decided to join her friends in hooking up as they prefer that to giving men their heart to play with ,she saw those lifestyles as fun and worth living as she visited the most luxurious boutique for her shopping with her friends as birds of same feathers flocked together
Soon it was time to go to the higher institution, her father sent her abroad to study.
To fulfill all righteousness the night before her departure ifeoma her mother called her into the sitting room to advise her on how to behave while away ."you Know abroad is not Nigeria, you're going to be alone there without us to guide you so I want you to be a good girl , focus on your studies and live a good life , please don't join the white girls to behave anyhow" she advised her ,but all these while Evelyn was busy with her smart phone only to look up and say " Okay" when she felt her mum was done talking.ifeoma felt bad about this attitude but instead waved it out.afterall she's a big girl now.

Sometimes what you really need to get to where you want to in life is not money, it might not even be the skills you have but a little gesture of courtesy "Thank you", I'm sorry"are very short sentences but difficult to say.
Many people prefers to prove how right they are and how good their phonetics are without knowing that those big grammars might even be the obstacle against the right you want to protect .
Using courtesy words doesn't depreciate your age neither does it block your lungs ,learn to use them as often as you can
Someone who didn't intend to help you might change his mind just because you said "Thank you" quite often. The truth is that connection comes from interaction,You will be rated according to the actions and reactions you play . Don't be too proud about your wealth,it may get you somewhere but it will not get you everywhere.
Live Humbly.

The poet's journal
Episode 3:
As Dan picked up the container, he imagined what could be inside it
He examine the structure, there was some inscriptions on it which he could not see well due to the paintings on it, he reached out for something to scratch off the painting, he didn't see anything to use so he got up and quickly dashed into the kitchen with the container in his hands , he found the kitchen knife and immediately set to work , he scratched the painting gently to avoid scratching off the words too,
Finally he succeeded, he cleaned the container with his hands and bent it horizontally to see the inscriptions on it.
It was his late wife's letter box.
She stored her written letters inside it,
The inscription was " Letter in special places
With expectation and uncertainty written all over his face, he hurriedly opened the container to know the content,
He removed the cover which was black plastic with a golden flower design and poured out the content on the floor,
He then picked one letter after another to read
He read the letters he sent her during her school days , he can't help but smile as he read his own words
He read one of the letters when he had gotten her attention and was now professing undying love for her
He wrote; ' Kathy'( as he fondly called her )
" My love shines brightly like the sun,
Every morning I wake up to see it shine through my window, I can't help but smile my heart out because I am deeply in love....."
He smiled brightly and continued with another script,
He laughed out as he read one and more scripts
He suddenly came across a script that was half torn ,he searched for the other half and found it lying under the other scripts,he reached out for it and tried placing it together, with eagerness he started reading it ,as he read through he widened his eyes in bewilderment, it was a letter that Jane wrote to his wife two days before her tragic demise.

'AFTER WAR'
PoetGillian grace library
Wandering up and around
With no known destination but to fate
I staggered away from the noise
Seeking refuge,but found more pains
I shouted for help but heard my own voice echoing back
I wondered if I alone still sanely exist

I watched as lives wasted in my sight
Mothers wailed for their crushing babies
Husbands dared to defend their homes
Lads conscripted into unending wars
With no choice but fight their unknown enemies.

Smokes filled the brilliant air
Humans and properties burning
None dared to save any
Beautiful homes of lonely men destroyed
Survivors enchanted by the evil days
Sage through their sober sufferings

Scavengers feasted on brains
As of the day of " the great banquet"
Inviting their passer-by brothers to celebrate
Could they tell of whose might they stand?

The Noble and honoured they devoured
The poor they trampled evenly
Because disastrous war has called so
They cared less of titles, but made merry
With the golden scepter of a fallen King.

War is death!
War!; The only taker of a King's dignity
Giving back only to the mighty destroyer
Giving him a boast of pride
And to the fallen, a cry of agony.
