The elimination of terrorist kingpin Kachalla Ibrahim Battijo is more than a battlefield victory, it is a testament to what “enhanced intelligence sharing, joint operational planning and seamless collaboration” can achieve. The intelligence led operation not only dismantled a criminal network but also foiled a planned attack on students sitting for their WASSCE exams in Kogi. When security agencies, local structures and state authorities work as one, the fight against terrorism shifts from reaction to prevention and lives are saved.

About 85 global medical professionals, scientists and policymakers participating in the "Science of Defeating Malaria", leadership development course and initiative from Harvard University, USA, have commended the establishment of NASENI-TROMENT Biotechnologies factory as pivotal to eradicating malaria and infectious diseases in Nigeria and Africa.

While touring the multi-million dollars NASENI-TROMENT Biotechnologies factory on Sunday, June 7, 2027, the team impressed by the facility for the production of PCR kits and rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs), said it was a good move to establish 100 per cent Nigerian-owned diagnostic brand.

Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, NASENT-TROMENT Biotechnologies, Mr. Selim Hani, in a presentation stated that the factory is a strategic partnership between the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and Troment Nigeria Limited aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare sovereignty through local production of diagnostic technologies.

“This facility built from ground zero in the last 18 months, focuses on manufacturing of RDTs and in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) products, enabling early detection of major infectious and public health diseases. Diagnostic test kits under the N-CheckUP brand will be produced to test Malaria, Hepatitis B & C, HIV ½, Pregnancy, COVID-19 Antigen, Typhoid, Syphilis, Blood Glucose among others.

“It is designed to produce 600 million diagnostic kits per year. It will reduce Nigeria’s (and West Africa) reliance on imported medical diagnostics while improving accessibility and affordability of across the country and the African region,” he added.

Technical Partner, NASENI-Troment Biotechnologies, Dr. Engin Narinc, said “this facility is Africa’s first fully localized Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) kit factory. From concept to full-scale launch, our end-to-end production process is designed to deliver world-calss diagnostic solutions built entirely in Africa, for Africa.”

Tension in Taraba APC Over Alleged Plot to Write Primary Results Overnight

Tension and uncertainty continue to trail the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Taraba State as delegates and party members await clear directives on how the exercise will be conducted across the state. Party officials reportedly arrived at the Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo at about 3:30pm, but several hours later, no official guideline or process for the primaries had been communicated to stakeholders.

The development has sparked growing concerns among party faithful, with allegations emerging that some state party officials, alongside the Governor, may be plotting to manipulate the exercise by allegedly compiling and announcing results overnight without allowing for a transparent voting process. The claims have heightened anxiety among aspirants and supporters who insist that the integrity of the primaries must be protected.

Concerned members of the party have now called on the national leadership of the APC to urgently intervene and ensure that the primaries are conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner. They stressed that democracy within the party must be upheld and that the voices of party members across Taraba State should not be suppressed through any form of alleged manipulation or imposition.

Observers say the atmosphere in Jalingo remains tense as delegates, aspirants, and supporters continue to monitor developments surrounding the exercise. Many party members maintain that the credibility of the APC in Taraba State ahead of future elections will depend largely on how transparent and inclusive the primary election process turns out to be.
