Nigeria’s oil industry prides itself on one major factor, among others, that has remained predominant in driving investment and sustainable growth in the sector: human capital development, and the Oil and Gas Trainers’ Association of Nigeria (OGTAN) has continued to play a vital role in this regard.

My Ministerial Keynote at the OGTAN HCD Conference, held at PTI, Effurun, Delta State, highlighted the Federal Government’s priorities for human capital development in the oil and gas sector, evident in the strengthening of our local content initiative and the MoUs signed under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration with international tertiary institutions for exchange programmes.

Themed “Empowering People, Driving Performance, Shaping the Future of the Oil and Gas Industry,” the conference is both timely and strategic, because the future of this industry will not be decided by resources alone; it will be decided by the people who manage them.

Our focus must therefore be on moving from certificates to competence, from participation to capability, and from training to measurable performance, while building a workforce that is technically strong, digitally fluent, innovative, adaptable and capable of leading Nigeria’s energy future.

I was deeply honoured to chair the Grand Reception organized by the Ebedebiri Federated Community in honour of their illustrious son, His Excellency, Pastor Peter Pereotubo Akpe, Ph.D., Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State.

It was a privilege to be part of an occasion celebrating a man who has demonstrated commendable commitment, loyalty, and good service to our dear State. In this regard, the reception in his honour was both appropriate and well deserved.
