The Sango Festival of Oyo marks the beginning of the Yoruba Traditional New Year in August. It is an ancestral worship that takes place in Sango 🇳🇬 The festival is held in commemoration of Tella-Oko, the third Alaafin of the Oyo Empire. He is believed to be the incarnation of the mythical Sango, the Yoruba divinity of thunder and lightning.

The festival was nscribed in 2023 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity 🗺

Some days ago we joined UNHCR Nigeria , Embassy of Belgium in Nigeria Embassy of Finland in Nigeria and Embassy of Sweden in Nigeria in Benue State to see firsthand how displaced families and host communities are rebuilding their lives after the violence that struck the state in 2025. Our four countries have provided more than USD 155 million in unearmarked, flexible funding to UNHCR globally. UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency ACNUR

In Tatyough, Yelewata and Tyo Mu, we met families returning home, rebuilding livelihoods and recovering from displacement, often with the support of host communities that had opened their homes and shared scarce resources during the crisis.

The visit underscored the value of flexible funding, enabling UNHCR and its partners to respond rapidly during emergencies while supporting recovery and longer-term solutions.

We also visited UNHCR's PROTECT Centre, where community-based early warning systems help prevent further displacement and strengthen protection. Discussions with the Deputy Governor, government officials, UN agencies and NGO partners reinforced the need for sustained investment and coordinated action to help communities move from crisis to recovery. 🇪🇸🇺🇳🇳🇬

FIAP , with FactCheckAfrica , within the framework of the EU Support to ECOWAS in Peace, Security and Governance (EPSG) Project, has concluded a two-day national exhibition and youth engagement programme showcasing creative, youth-led responses to misinformation, disinformation, and harmful online narratives ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general elections.

It was titled " : Gen Z Voices Against Disinformation".

The EPSG project is a multi-donor initiative co-financed by the EU 🇪🇺 European Union in Nigeria , the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development Germany in Nigeria 🇩🇪 and the MFA of Denmark 🇩🇰 Denmark in Nigeria It is implemented by FIAP 🇪🇸 , GIZ Nigeria & ECOWAS🇩🇪🇳🇬🌍 🇩🇪 and Expertise France 🇫🇷

Nos relations n'ont jamais été aussi étroites. En janvier 2025, les Ministres des Affaires Étrangères ont signé à Madrid un protocole d'accord sur les consultations politiques.

Quelques mois plus t**d, le Secrétaire d'État aux Affaires Étrangères et Mondiales (photo) s'est rendu à Cotonou pour tenir la première réunion de consultations politiques.
