SPECIAL DUTIES MINISTRY RECEIVES SPECIAL ADVISER ON POLICY & COORDINATION/HEAD, CRDCU

The Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs received members of the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU) in furtherance of the review of implementation of the Presidential Priorities and Minsterial Deliverables in Ministries, Departments and. Agencies (MDAs)

The Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Zaphaniah Bitrus Jisalo, while playing host to the CRDCU team led its Head and Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala-Usman, today in Abuja, described the "visit as a testament to the administration's commitment to accountability, performance monitoring, and the realization of the Ministerial deliverables assigned to our Ministry. "

Continuing, he said: "it is an opportunity for reflection, evaluation and renewed commitment to achieving the objectives set out by His Excellency, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu".

He went on to enumerate some of the Ministerial deliverables to include but not limited to: certification and verification of 600 Zonal Intervention and Constituency Projects and Programmes in Federal and Senatorial Districts nationwide; monitored 5 States to ascertain compliance level of the 1% monthly allocation for training of Loca Government Staff and 5% monthly allocation to Traditional Rulers.

Also, 86, 846 Nigerians were beneficiaries of the Good Cause programmes of National Lottery Trust Fund while 7 Licences and 29 Betting Permits were issued to Lottery Operators by National Lottery Regulatory Commission, providing 241,180 direct and indirect jobs for Nigerians.

In her remarks, the Special Adviser, Bala- Usman, commended the Ministry in areas it did well, pointing out that more needs to be done to shore up areas that need attention.

She informed that items not budgeted for should not be part of a Ministry's deliverables and where it is budgeted for and not executed due to non- release of funds by Federal Ministry of Finance, the latter and not the Ministry takes the blame for non-performance.

Futhermore, she pointed out that the reason most MDAs score low is due to inappropriate evidencing as activities uploaded on the CRDCU platform are difficult to verify and track.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, who thanked the Special Adviser for the visit said: "The presentation has provided a clear and comprehensive assessment of our performance, while also offering guidance for the path ahead. Your dedication to ensuring that every Ministry aligns with the President's Priority Areas is inspiring, and we are grateful for your constructive feedback and support. "

SPECIAL DUTY MINISTRY TO PARTNER CYMS TO STEM RURAL URBAN-DRIFT

The Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs is set to partner with the Committee on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS) to stem rural-urban drift as the latest Local Government Autonomy will ensure massive socio-economic development in rural areas.

The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Maryam Keshinro, made this known on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 when members of CYMS paid her a courtesy visit in Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary who was represented by Director, Policy Implementation and Monitoring of Government Decisions (PMIGD), Dr. Cyprian Kpakol further observed that the proposed partnership would ensure that the Local Government gets the Statutory one per cent deduction needed for capacity building of its Staff to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Similarly, the Ministry also supervises the Statutory five per cent deduction for first class Traditional Rulers to ensure they continue to play their roles as custodians of our cultural heritage and that of maintaining the peace in our communities.

On their request for partnership with the Ministry on grassroots mobilization and sensitization, Dr. Kpakol said he would relay same to the Permanent Secretary.

The Director appreciated the delegation from CYMS on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, adding that the Ministry looks forward to collaborating with them.

Speaking earlier, the Director General, CYMS, Obinna Nwaka, commended President Ahmed Tinubu for the Local Government autonomy, adding that non-performance will no longer be condoned as Local Government Chairmen are now financially empowered to bring development to their people.

He reminded the Chairmen that they do not enjoy immunity, so any misdemeanor will be visited by the appropriate authority and they will be held accountable for their actions and inactions.

Furthermore, he said the Committee will soon deploy massive mobilization and sensitization to enable the people to appreciate the efforts of the present administration in bringing about the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of proposal to the Ministry on areas of collaboration.
