IN FULL UNIFORM, GOVERNOR MUTFWANG SALUTES NSCDC AS SYMBOL OF HOPE FOR NIGERIA’S FOOD SECURITY AND RURAL SAFETY, AS NSCDC GRADUATES 150 AGRO RANGERS.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken another bold step in reinforcing the nation’s security architecture, particularly in the agricultural sector, with the successful graduation of 150 Agro Rangers of Course SH 1314 from the NSCDC Command and Staff College, Jos, Plateau State, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

The colourful Passing Out Parade (POP) ceremony drew dignitaries from across government, security, and traditional institutions, reflecting the growing relevance and credibility of the Agro Rangers unit as a cornerstone in the protection of Nigeria’s food security and rural stability.

In a show of deep solidarity, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, made a symbolic appearance in full Agro Rangers operational uniform, visibly aligning himself with the Corps' mission to protect lives, farmlands, and critical national infrastructure. The Governor commended the NSCDC for its strategic vision and professionalism, and praised the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, for his transformational leadership and dedication to repositioning the Corps through purposeful training and capacity development.

“The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has proven itself as a dependable institution in the nation’s internal security framework,” the Governor stated.
“Under the leadership of Professor Audi, the Corps continues to demonstrate excellence — particularly through units like the Agro Rangers, who are vital to securing our food systems and rural communities.”

In his remarks, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the first Professor to lead the Corps, reaffirmed his commitment to training and retraining as a core strategy for operational effectiveness. He also emphasized the need for continued synergy among security agencies, state governments, and local communities, especially in addressing agro-related threats across the country.

“Training is not an option — it is the heartbeat of operational excellence,” Professor Audi stated.
“We are raising a force that is not only tactically prepared but strategically aligned to collaborate with sister agencies and stakeholders. Synergy is vital if we must sustain peace in our rural areas and protect Nigeria’s agricultural backbone.”

The Agro Rangers, a specialized unit within the NSCDC, play a crucial role in protecting agro-allied investments, preventing and resolving conflicts in farming areas, and securing vulnerable communities from threats such as banditry, encroachment, and farmer-herder clashes.

The event featured a precision parade, coordinated drills, and a demonstration of tactical capabilities acquired through months of intensive training.

Under the visionary leadership of Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the NSCDC remains committed to building a people-centered, highly trained, and collaborative Corps, focused on protecting critical national assets and advancing sustainable security across all sectors.
