NiHSA Hosts Abuja Schools on Educational Excursion
The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NiHSA), Umar Ibrahim Mohammed, hosted students and pupils from three schools in Abuja on an educational excursion aimed at exposing them to the functions and operations of the Agency.
The schools that participated in the excursion were CIL Academy, Joseph Jorin International School, and Goldsworth Resort Development Academy.
The visit was organized by NTA 2 Channel 5 under its children’s educational programme, Kiddies World, to enable the students gain firsthand knowledge of the responsibilities and activities of NiHSA.
Representing the Director General/CEO, the Director of Operational Hydrology, Femi Bejide, warmly welcomed the students and encouraged them to freely ask questions and make the most of the opportunity, assuring them that the excursion would be a memorable learning experience.
As part of the programme, Mr. Taiwo delivered a detailed presentation on the overview, mandates, and operations of NiHSA, highlighting the Agency’s critical role in hydrological monitoring, flood forecasting, water resources management, and provision of hydrological information across Nigeria.
The students and pupils actively participated in an interactive session where they asked questions, which were comprehensively addressed by NiHSA departmental directors and officials.
In his closing remarks, Pastor Femi Bejide appreciated the organizers, teachers, and students for the visit and commended the students for their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.
The excursion also featured a guided facility tour of NiHSA, where the students were taken round key operational units of the Agency to further enhance their understanding of hydrological services and related activities.
