Why do parents send their children to boarding schools?
When it comes to choosing an ideal adobe for students, boarding schools offer many unparalleled advantages that cannot be looked down. The debate that whether a day school is better or a boarding school is an old one. But of recent times, most parents have started to realise the importance of boarding school in providing high quality education and an overall development in the personality of their children.

Boarding schools can contribute plethora in the grooming of the personality of a student. Apart from inculcating a spirit of discipline and punctuality in a student because of strict rules and regulations of the school, a sense of responsibility is generated in the student. This is beneficial not only in the field of academics but in every aspect of life. Children admitted to a boarding from a very young age learn to be independent and obedient which instils maturity in them from a feeble age. The lessons of life they learn in boarding school lay a solid foundation for adulthood.

The ambience of one’s home, to a great extent, affects the way a child is brought up. A boarding provides a similar surrounding to every student where they can be among the like-minded students.

Being away from home is not easy for every student but they learn to deal with the highs and lows of life under the scrutiny of their mentors and not baby sitters. It prepares them for the unprecedented harsh life they will witness in their college.

Boarders can take full advantage of the resources available to them which the day scholars can leverage only during the school timings. They can access the library and media stocks anytime and get themselves equipped with the knowledge that very few day scholars can get at their homes.

Some students who are introverts learn to shed off that persona, learn to fit in social groups, be outspoken and prepare themselves for the future challenges of life. They can take up any hobby and grow up to be smarter than their day scholar contemporaries.

There are very few students who complain of being homesick as most of the boarding schools allow parents to meet their children on a periodic basis. The belief that boarding schools are too harsh on the students who disobey is wrong because it isn’t a military school where students are beaten up for any wrongdoing. Their rules are just hard and fast as they believe in nurturing the development of children instead of turning them rebels by adopting any harsh treatment.

A boarding school is therefore an excellent source for learning various life skills. The opportunity to live in a community where one can explore oneself is necessary to get an upper hand in life. If leveraged to its best potential, a boarding school can turn out to be the ultimate boon in one’s life.

If you ask a student what makes him or her successful in further mathematics, you probably won’t hear about some fantastic new book or video lecture series. Most likely you will hear something like, “It was all Mr. Taiwo. He just never gave up on me.” Thank you PTA/school management for gifts and prizes.
