TRENDING NEWS: “We are Returning power to you the people” - PDP Chairman Turaki Declares After Meeting Obasanjo.

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, today reiterated his adminsitration’s commitment to return power to the people in the determination of critical issues in the party. He also assured of the party’s readiness to secure victories in key South-West states.

Speaking to Party members and supporters at the party's state Secretariat shortly after returning from a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chairman Turaki affirmed that the PDP is on a definitive path to reclaim its dominant political position, starting with upcoming elections in Ekiti and Osun States in 2026.

Turaki highlighted the widespread grassroots mobilization and renewed unity within the party as the driving forces behind the expected electoral success.

“Let me assure all our members and the good people of the South-West: We will win Ekiti, we will win Osun, and we are not stopping there. By the special grace of God and the unwavering support of our people, we will take over Ogun State,” Turaki stated emphatically.

He thanked the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, for his invaluable counsel during their meeting, which he noted has further energized the party leadership and reinforced its strategic focus on reclaiming power.

The National Chairman stressed that the PDP’s vision for the South-West is centered on responsible governance, economic revival, and the delivery of democratic dividends to the populace, which he believes the ruling party has failed to provide.

“Nigerians are tired of the current trajectory and are ready to return to the PDP," Turaki added.

He reiterated the party's commitment to ensuring internal democracy is fully restored to the party in order to provide Nigerians a credible, formidable alternative to the ruling party in all future elections.

WAHALA: Verydarkman has taken shots at Ashmusy after she introduced her “money blueprint” program, charging Nigerians ₦36,750 to learn how to make ₦100 million. Isn’t that funny? ₦36,750 to earn ₦100 million in one week. Ashybillion, fear God. VDM asked the killer question: “If this blueprint really works, does every member of your family already have ₦100 million?” The internet is buzzing — is Ashmusy selling hope, or is it just another cash-grab scheme? Moral Lesson: Don’t rush into “get-rich” shortcuts. Ask questions, seek proof, and remember — not every flashy promise leads to true wealth

TRENDING NEWS: ‎Ex Gov. of Plateau, Joshua Dariye Cries Out After He Bought A Fake Luxury Watch Worth N250m"

‎Me : Senator Joshua Dariye was sentence to 14 Years imprisonment for N1.16bn corruption while he was a governor, this money could have been part of proceeds from the corruption money he hid, he should be question on how he got the money, shameless man

‎Former Plateau State Governor and ex-senator, Joshua Chibi Dariye has been scammed $290,000 (N250 million) after buying a fake luxury watch.

‎He revealed this in a petition to the Nigeria Police Force.

‎Dariye, who served as governor from 1999 to 2007 and was later convicted for corruption, accused two men, Emmanuel Odogwu and Franklin Gideon (alias Kelvin), of selling him a counterfeit Polo wristwatch while posing as staff members of the luxury brand.

‎In a formal complaint dated November 19, 2024, and addressed to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja, Dariye alleged criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, and obtaining money under false pretence.

‎“I humbly wish to complain against one Emmanuel Odogwa and one Franklin Gideon (aka Kelvin) for Criminal Conspiracy, Breach of Trust, Obtaining Money by False Pretences and Fraud,” Dariye wrote.

‎The ex-senator explained that in April 2024, the duo approached him, claiming to be representatives of the Polo wristwatch company and convinced him to buy a luxury timepiece for $290,000.

‎“I paid them the money and they promised to supply same. They did supply the Polo wrist but I discovered it was fake,” he stated.

‎After verification from the official Polo company, Dariye confirmed the watch was counterfeit and that the men were not affiliated with the brand.

‎Dariye said his attempts to trace the suspects failed, noting in a follow-up police statement dated November 22, 2024, that the men were high-profile fraudsters.

‎Investigators later uncovered that one of the suspects’ real identities was Franklyn Ojo Jatto, not Gideon as initially claimed.

‎According to an affidavit sworn by police prosecutor Gregory Woje on February 14, 2025, Jatto converted the $290,000 into ₦250 million through a Bureau de Change and moved the funds into a Keystone Bank account owned by his company, Franklyn’s Construction Nig. Ltd.

‎Further investigations revealed that on April 23, 2024, Jatto used ₦145m from the proceeds to purchase a property at Sahara III Estate, Lokogoma, Abuja.

‎The police also discovered that Jatto operated over 16 bank accounts in Nigeria and abroad, all linked to a single Biometric Verification Number (BVN).

‎A court order was subsequently obtained to freeze the accounts.

‎On May 8, 2025, Jatto allegedly transferred ₦100m into a fixed deposit account with Mutual Trust Bank, set to mature in May 2026.

‎“Unless this Honourable Court grants this application, the Respondent may dispose of the property and spend the proceeds of crime in the bank,” the police affidavit warned.

‎In his petition, Dariye urged the police to pursue justice with urgency.

‎“I kindly request your esteemed office to track and arrest the suspects who are currently on the run and to also investigate this matter thoroughly and help recover the $290,000 they fraudulently collected from me,” he pleaded.

‎Police investigators say they are now seeking interim forfeiture of the assets and funds linked to the suspects, pending the conclusion of the case.

‎The case comes years after Dariye himself was convicted for corruption.

‎The former Governor was sentenced in 2018 to 10 years’ imprisonment for criminal breach of trust, following a Supreme Court ruling that upheld his conviction for diverting ₦1.16 billion in ecological funds while governor.

‎Though released from prison in 2022 under a presidential pardon, the conviction remains one of Nigeria’s high-profile corruption cases.

TRENDING NEWS: Communique Issued at the end of the 101st Meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Today, Thursday, 24th July, 2025.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at its 101st meeting today, Thursday, 24th July, 2025 extensively deliberated on the state of the Party and resolved as follows:

1. NEC expressed satisfaction over the resolution of all contentions and disagreements within the Party which again demonstrates the engrained patriotic disposition of PDP members and our Party’s democratic principles of dialogue, mutual understanding and commitment to the overall interest of the PDP and the common good of all Nigerians.

2. NEC reassures all Party members and Nigerians that the PDP remains a strong, united, cohesive, stable and focused political Party repositioned to effectively play its role as the leading opposition Party in galvanizing all efforts towards rescuing our dear nation from the catastrophic misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

3. Pursuant to the foregoing, NEC approved the year 2025 Elective National Convention Schedule of Activities and Timetable. Under the approved Timetable, the Elective National Convention to elect the next set of National Officers of our Party will hold on Saturday, 15th to Sunday, 16th November, 2025 in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.

4. Consequently, NEC directed the Acting National Chairman, His Excellency, Amb. Iliya Damagum and the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu to officially write to inform the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the time, venue and agenda of the Elective National Convention in accordance with the requirement of Section 82 (1) of the Electoral Act, 2022 and Part 2(12) of the Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties, 2022.

5. Accordingly, NEC approved the membership composition of the National Convention Committee as well as the membership composition of the National Convention Zoning Committee to ensure a successful, transparent and credible Elective National Convention.

6. In its determination to preserve all the electoral mandate given to our Party by Nigerians across the country, NEC directed the National Working Committee to take immediate legal action to recover the seats of all serving members of the National and State Assemblies elected on the platform of the PDP but defected to another Party.

By virtue of the self-executory provision of Sections 68 (1) (g) and 109 (1) (g) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) such defectors have irredeemably lost their seats, there being no division or merger with regard to the PDP.

7. NEC expressed serious concern and frowns at the reported participation and involvement of some Party members in the activities, meetings and gathering of another political party. NEC calls on these members to reconsider their actions and show loyalty and commitment as members of the PDP especially as the law does not permit membership of two political Parties at the same time.

8. NEC reassures such members of the successes recorded so far towards addressing their concerns on issues relating to our Party.

9. NEC restates that the PDP as the leading opposition Party and platform of choice for all Nigerians remains open in working with other well-meaning and like-minded citizens in the collective effort to rescue our nation from the stranglehold of the rudderless and insensitive APC administration.

10. NEC reassures of PDP’s belief in Democracy, and its commitment and readiness to be at the forefront in driving the aspiration of Nigerians to oust the APC and install a people-oriented government on the platform of the PDP come 2027.

11. NEC adjourned and fixed its next (102nd) meeting to Monday, 25th August, 2025
