The general public is hereby informed that recruitment into the following four agencies under the Ministry of Interior has officially commenced:

* Nigerian Correctional Service
* Nigerian Immigration Service
* Federal Fire Service
* Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)

OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT SET TO ENHANCE EMERGENCY RESPONSE TIME WITHIN THE FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE

In a significant move aimed at improving emergency response coordination across the country, the Personal Assistant to the President on E-Governance Support, Mrs. Lydia Aina, accompanied by a delegation from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), paid a courtesy visit to the Headquarters of the Federal Fire Service today.

The purpose of the visit was to deliberate on strategic modalities for optimizing the functionality of the National Emergency Number 112, with a focus on enhancing accessibility and reducing response time during emergencies.

While receiving the delegation, the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, MIFireE ,MNSE, emphasized the importance of making the 112 emergency line fully operational and integrated within the Service’s response framework. He reiterated that the ability of citizens to easily access emergency services is critical to saving lives and protecting property.

The Controller General further stated that improving response time has consistently remained a top priority under the directive of the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and the Service has been actively implementing measures to achieve this goal.

He assured the visiting team of the Federal Fire Service's unwavering commitment and readiness to collaborate on this initiative, noting that the project aligns closely with the Service’s core mandate of protecting lives and property through timely and efficient emergency response.

The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to strengthen collaboration and accelerate efforts towards the effective implementation of the enhanced 112 emergency response system nationwide.

FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE TO LAUNCH NATIONWIDE MENTAL HEALTH INITIATIVE FOR PERSONNEL

In a proactive step towards supporting the psychological well-being of its workforce, the Federal Fire Service (FFS), in collaboration with Bright Future Community Healthcare Services, LLC, has unveiled a comprehensive mental health care program targeted at officers across all stations nationwide.

The official announcement of the initiative took place today at the conference hall of the Service's National Headquarters in Abuja, marking the beginning of the program’s introductory phase. The event was led by Dr. Emmanuella Owobu, head of the implementing healthcare team, who emphasized the critical importance of early intervention and continuous support for officers exposed to high-stress environments. She disclosed that the full implementation of the mental health program would commence in the near future.

Representing the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Engr. Jaji Abdulganiyu O., MIFireE, MNSE, was the Deputy Controller General in charge of Administration and Supply, Olumode Samuel. In his address, he described the initiative as both laudable and timely, noting that many fire personnel face mental health challenges particularly Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) due to the demanding nature of their duties.

“This program is a step in the right direction to ensure that our officers are not only physically fit but also mentally resilient. Our commitment to their overall well-being is unwavering,” he remarked.

The event was well attended by heads of departments, and unit of the Service, signaling broad institutional support for the program’s implementation.

The initiative aims to provide ongoing counseling, support systems, awareness campaigns, and access to professional care as part of the Service’s holistic approach to personnel welfare.

2025 EID AL-ADHA: CONTROLLER GENERAL, FFS, FELICITATES WITH MUSLIM FAITHFUL, URGES HEIGHTENED FIRE SAFETY AWARENESS

The Controller General, Federal Fire Service, Engr. Jaji Abdulganiyu O., MIFireE, MNSE, extends warm greetings and best wishes to all Muslim faithful across the country as they commemorate the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Adha.

While rejoicing with Nigerians during this festive period, the Controller General calls on the public to prioritize fire safety and general caution to prevent avoidable incidents that may mar the celebration.

In his message, Engr. Jaji emphasized the importance of adhering to fire safety guidelines, especially during festive cooking and large gatherings. He advised the public to observe the following fire safety precautions:

* Never leave cooking unattended, especially when using gas or open flames.

* Avoid wearing flowing gowns or long sleeves while cooking, as they can easily catch fire.

* Keep matches and lighters out of the reach of children.

* Ensure proper ventilation when using gas cylinders and store them outside the kitchen area.

* Do not overload electrical outlets or use substandard extension cords.

* Turn off all electrical appliances when not in use, particularly when leaving the house.

* Keep flammable materials such as curtains, paper, or cloth away from heat sources.

* Ensure functional fire extinguishers are accessible at home and during outdoor festivities.

The Controller General reassured Nigerians of the Federal Fire Service’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He reiterated that firefighters across the country remain on standby and are fully prepared to respond swiftly to emergencies.

FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR LOCALLY MADE PRODUCTS

In a bid to promote local content and boost the nation’s economy, the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Engr. Jaji Abdulganiyu O., MIFireE, MNSE, has reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to prioritizing the procurement and utilization of locally made products, while also taking human health and environmental safety into consideration.

Engr. Jaji made this declaration during a product presentation held at the Federal Fire Service National Headquarters, Garki, Abuja. The presentation was conducted by Chief Peter Enamdi Ojiaka, Chairman of JK Peace Group, a Nigerian company focused on innovative fire safety solutions.

JK Peace Group presented a locally manufactured, chlorine-free foam compound that is environmentally safe and non-toxic to humans, specifically formulated for effective fire suppression.

During the event, Chief Ojiaka noted that the product is already gaining traction, with patronage from agencies such as the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Anambra State Fire Service, and even interest from international markets including Germany.

The Controller General applauded the initiative and assured the company of the Service’s willingness to support indigenous innovations, particularly those that align with global safety standards. He emphasized the importance of economic growth through local production, encouraging other agencies to follow suit in embracing homegrown solutions.

Also present at the event were top-ranking officials of the Federal Fire Service, including the Deputy Controller General in charge of Administrative and Supply, DCG Olumode Samuel, the Assistant Controller General in charge of Federal Operations, ACG Tambari, and several other senior officers.

The Federal Fire Service continues to demonstrate its unwavering support for Nigerian-made innovations, reinforcing its commitment to national development and technological advancement in the emergency services sector.

Today, the Federal Fire Service Headquarters Station proudly hosted the Health and Safety Club from Shining Stars Academy, Kubwa, Abuja, on a highly engaging and educational excursion.

The students had a hands-on experience learning about fire prevention, emergency response, and the vital role of firefighters. They toured fire trucks, observed safety demonstrations, and interacted with officers who shared practical fire safety tips.

A major highlight was their warm reception by the Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, who expressed his joy at their visit and encouraged them to be safety ambassadors in their communities.

The students also visited the National Fire Data Repository Centre (NFDRC) where the Head of ICT, SF Esan Oladimeji, introduced them to the National Fire Detection and Alarm System (NAFDAS) and demonstrated how N-Alert, the real-time fire emergency alert platform, works in linking incidents to the nearest fire station. He emphasized how technology and data are revolutionizing fire service operations in Nigeria.
