AGATU AND ITS SECURITY ARCHITECTURE
In the recent security happenings in Agatu, particularly on the attack of Babatunde Ochowechi I decided to make further investigation on the current security happenings within the axis.
From the intelligence gathered, there have been cases of people being pursued from their farms lately (still subject to verification and establishing facts).
There are currently as alleged, men on army uniforms parading in the hidden places around these axes, suspected to be fake military with the intention of terrorising the people and likely subjecting them to fear and torment. This information poses a very security threat to our people, I thereby urge our capable chairman hon. James Melvin Ejeh to swiftly dive into action and investigate this matter, could it be our military doing security patrol into the bushes and hidden places, or could it be fake military as alleged, if it's fake, let this matter be taken seriously and be handle with all urgency and perpetrator be brought to book with immediate effect, and if it's our real military, then the community should be aware they are going around to avoid unnecessary tension and fear among the people.
From my investigation I learnt that in some of the checking points if not all, there are few people called "VOLUNTEER GUARDS" from these communities assigned to work with the military, if this is true, does our chairman, Hon , our house of assembly member Hon. Godwin Abu Edoh , and our house of representatives Hon. Ojotu Ojema is aware of their existence?. I want to believe they are not aware, but to satisfy my curiosity, if they are aware, what stopped them from empowering these same people to form the community security of Agatu we have solicited for all along to protect lives and property of the people of Agatu, or is there something that we are not aware of?
CHECKING POINTS ALONG THESE AXIS.
From my investigation (this information is subject to verification and correction) I discovered the following:
From Obagaji through Ologba to Aila, we have an army checking point immediately you are climbing the hill into Ologba community, exactly in front of my primary school teacher, Mr. Jonah, and just 15 to 20 meters away, still within Ologba community, by the junction of the road leading to Ogbaulu, we have another checking point, controlled by the police, after this at about 100meter away from this, the next one is situated in Ekaida community, exactly in front of their Mosque before the primary school.
Outside these three checking points in these two communities, we have EGBA COMMUNITY, EDEJE COMMUNITY, OMIKWIDI COMMUNITY, OJENEBE COMMUNITY, all without a single checking points, until the next one at Aila community exactly in front of RCM primary school in Aila community.
What exactly is the reason we can't have a checking point from EGBA COMMUNITY down to OJENEBE, could it be manpower challenges, or these areas are declared safe zones, or resources limitation to sustain multiple checking points? I guess none of that is the basis for it's none availability, if those challenges are in place we won't have two checking points in Ologba community that is barely 100 meter from one end to the other, I think there is something we need to understand about the entire security structure in this axis.
Who determines the location of these checking points and what are the parameters used to determine them?. when we know our challenges we will know what to do to solve them.
Is it even necessary we have two checking points in one community which landmarks is barely 100 meter away between one end of it and the other end, is it cost effective for a prudent and judicious use of our resources to confined such just one spot as such?
Our leaders hands and microphone are very quick and loud respectively in sending messages of condemnation in public when such issue happens, this attack is over 48 hrs now, I have not seen a single press release from them in this regard oh, I think AGATU and it's leaders are both course we all needs to enrolled and study for proper understanding.
Additionally investigation established that these checking points either some or all close by 5pm, I don't know how true this is, however if yes, does that mean we only have insecurities in the day time and the night is a break period for insecurity? Someone needs to explain to us, this will lead us to why insecurities persist in these axes.
