Earlier this morning 15th, August , 2024, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement North-West, Yakasai was on Channels TV Morning brief program to discuss the aftermath of the protest, and also to address Mr Presidents actions and policies relating to some of the demands made by the protesters.
Hon. Yakasai explained that policies such as NELFUNDS, SIP, Consumer Credit Scheme, Agriculture Interventions, Conditional Cash transfers, etc. are being already in existence and over 20m Nigerians are benefitting from these schemes of President Tinubu. The SSA to the President also talked about the out of school children in he North who were majority of the violent protesters on the streets, bringing it to attenrion that the Almajiri school program by Former President Jonathan if continued these youngsters would have benefitted from it and kept off the streets.
He further went on to explain that the North isnt against the President rather the policies which they feel has brought hardship to them is what they were expressing their grievances towards and not President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, hence the reason him and his colleagues as SSAP'S have been effortlessly going around trying to have citizens engagements in the communities to enlighten them more on the policies and interventions which are available for them to benefit amd making sure these programs and schemes reaches them also.
