WATER SCARCITY

1. Water is scarce in most parts of our society today because, most people thought water is supposed to be free, and anything that is free is not sustainable. Water must have a place value which is a price tag, regardless of who supplies the water, and to whom it might be consumed. To make water available people must be ready to pay the cost.

2. The assumption that, it is the responsibility of the government to provide free water to individuals and companies is wrong, the water boards we have today is not sustaining because of the mentality of free water supply, so many individuals boycott payment of water bill because of this assumption. Then who will fix the broken pipes and so on. Everyone must take responsibility to pay for the system to be maintained.

3. Vandalization of water installations and machines. I don't see the fault of anyone who have made effort to see that water is supplied regardless of the quantity, be it the government, NGOs or an individual. The same people who are crying for water scarcity today are the people destroying our water systems today. We must take caution.

4. Lack of unity in the society. Water projects that are main to serve the community becomes an individual's property. Some communities face these challenges because within themselves they are divided, some are party differences, others are religious. Eg a borehole main to be sunk in where water is available would be taken to the party chairman's residents or close to the village head's house or near the church/mosque. No common decision for the oneness of the societal goals.

5. Wasted water projects. The huge amount of resources wasted on ground within our societies today in the name of providing temporary solutions to water supply is enough to construct a mini earth dams, reservoirs or ponds to enable people benefit from it. Walking down within a kilometer square of some certain areas, one might count the number wasted over tanks, hand pump boreholes, solar panels seen suspended in the air and many uncompleted boreholes. There is need to put them into use.

6. Development Associations. One of the most corrupt systems that destroys the society today is development association, regardless of what association that might be. If the development association couldn't identify the major need of it's community then the aim of the development association is defeated. For long development association has asked people to contribute and yet nothing to show up with. Water scarcity is eating them up as well. Every development association must set a milestone of achieving a sustainable water supply to the society.

In conclusion: the need for individuals to take water supply as business or part of an investment is necessary, private companies could establish water supply companies not waiting for the government to do that. An individual with #20,000,000 can Identify areas where water is seriously scarce, or the need is highly in demand, such places are Amper, seri, Gunji, Somji and many villages within kanke and plateau at large. Instead of creating sachet water factories, an alternative is water tanks and water treatment plant.
Water is life and water is inevitable, so we must take a holistic approach to provide a long lasting solution.
My take.
