HOW DISCIPLINED ARE YOU?

The other day, my little daughter looked at me and asked, “Daddy, how do you manage to wake up early before all of us?” I’m not sure what made her ask, but I knew she had noticed a pattern. I told her plainly, and it gave her both clarity and motivation: “It’s discipline. I feel sleepy, too. But I choose to discipline myself.”

Friend, how disciplined are you? There is the discipline of a disciple (1 Corinthians 9:27). High achievers are not superhuman. They are just ordinary people with extraordinary discipline and commitment. The gap between you and the person you admire is often time and discipline (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Your discipline today becomes your distinction tomorrow. If you want to stand out in your generation, you must choose to be different (Daniel 1:8, 6:3). That means doing things differently. Using your time differently. Building practices that are different. Moving from what is convenient to what is required (1 Corinthians 6:12, 10:23).

We are not just called to be Christians; we are called to be disciples (Luke 14:27). Sadly, we have many Christians but very few disciples. It takes discipline to be a disciple. That’s why we are called soldiers, not civilians (2 Timothy 2:3). Soldiers don’t live by convenience. They live by command. They are people under authority.

If you live anyhow, you will end up as just anything. To become something significant, you must build the right daily routines and stick to them (Mark 1:35). You must be disciplined. At first, a life-changing habit will feel like duty. With time, it becomes a delight as you apply discipline. It is commitment before enjoyment.

How long do you sleep? If you cannot manage your sleep, there’s no guarantee you will achieve anything tangible with your life. Some people have slept away their destiny (1 Kings 3:16-22). Some have ruined their business or seen their ministry die because of excess sleep. Go to the ant and learn wisdom (Proverbs 6:6-11). Amen.

FINANCIAL DOMINION

Years ago, I shared something profound with our church. I told God’s people: “The same urgency we give to an altar call for salvation and healing is the same urgency we should give to an altar call for prosperity.” We treat sin and sickness as abnormal. But we tolerate poverty, or we spiritualize it away. That shouldn’t be.

Friend, God wants you to walk in financial dominion (Psalm 72:8-11). As a child of God, wealth is a tool for fulfilling your divine purpose. Without resources, certain dimensions of God’s calling on your life will remain unfulfilled. We must not live in neglect or denial of it (Philippians 4:13-19).

As a child of God, you need to be in environments where healthy discussions about money take place (Psalm 112:1-3). For too long, Christians have believed the statement that “this world is not ours, we are just passing through." That statement is not entirely accurate (1 Timothy 6:17).

We are not just passers-by on the earth. God has placed us here to dominate for Him (Psalm 37:11). One of the tools required for dominion is wealth and financial capacity. The earlier you accept this truth, the better for you. Stop living in denial of money. Also, stop having an unhealthy relationship with it (Matthew 6:24-33).

The devil would rather keep you poor than keep you sick (3 John 1:2). He has no problem with you praying for healing, but he fills you with guilt when you pray for money the right way. Why? Because he knows that money in the hands of a well-taught believer will destroy his agenda (Luke 12:16-20, 16:19-21).

Financial dominion is a fight (Proverbs 11:16). First, it requires the right understanding. Second, it requires strength and intimacy with God. Third, it requires holy dissatisfaction — a refusal to remain in lack (Genesis 27:40). If you lack financial dominion, your spirituality will not translate into practical results.

RESPONSIBLE FAITH

Sometime ago, my daughter said to me after church, "Daddy, I want to score 60 out of 60 in my exams." I smiled and said, "Great news, we prayed for excellence today." She replied, "I know, I said 'I receive it' in prayer." I told her, "Saying 'I receive it' is powerful, but you must also open your books and study." That's responsible faith.

Friend, you need to have a responsible faith. Don’t stop at just saying “I receive it.” You must also work. Many in church receive blessings in prayer but lack the discipline to act on them. Some leaders only pray for people without teaching the practical wisdom for success. Prayer is powerful, but God expects diligence from us, too.

Faith and effort must walk together (1 Corinthians 15:10). Lack of balance here is why many feel disappointed and see Church as a scam. The truth is, church is not a scam, and God is not a fraud. The problem may be wrong teaching or no teaching at all. God’s ways are clear and proven. When we align with His Word, results follow (Hosea 6:3).

You need sound pastoral leadership that teaches balance (Jeremiah 3:15). Faith and wisdom work together. Faith causes you to declare, “I receive it!” Wisdom pushes you to act on what you’ve received. Without wisdom, faith becomes empty noise. With both, you move from declaration to manifestation (1 Timothy 4:15).

Irresponsible faith dumps everything on God. But true faith is seen in both words and works (James 2:17-26). The supernatural is simply “super” plus “natural.” The natural is your responsibility. The super is God’s contribution. If you don’t do your part, you block His part. God works with those who work. He honours obedience (James 1:25).

What natural step are you taking to partner with God (2 Kings 7:3)? God handles the impossible. You handle the possible. Miracles are born when divinity meets humanity through obedience (John 2:5). This season, go beyond “I receive it.” Add action to your faith. Work it out with God. Your testimony is next.
