NSCDC ONDO STATE COMMAND BIDS FAREWELL TO DC OSENI MUSA ADEYEMO

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, on Friday, 31st July 2026, bid a heartfelt farewell to the Command's Second-in-Command, Deputy Commandant Oseni Musa Adeyemo, during a well-attended retirement ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Akure.

Deputy Commandant Oseni Musa Adeyemo retired from active service upon attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60, bringing to a close a remarkable and distinguished career in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

DC Adeyemo was deployed to the Ondo State Command in April 2022, where he served as the Head of the Agro Rangers Unit from 2022 to 2024. During his tenure, he played a significant role in advancing the Corps' mandate of protecting farmers, farmlands, and critical agricultural assets across the state.

In October 2024, he was appointed the Command's Second-in-Command, a position in which he provided exceptional leadership, administrative support, and professional guidance. His wealth of experience, dedication to duty, and commitment to mentoring officers and men of the Command earned him the admiration and respect of colleagues and stakeholders alike.

Speaking at the ceremony, the State Commandant, Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, JP, commended the retiring officer for his years of selfless service, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the ideals of the Corps. He described Deputy Commandant Adeyemo as a dependable leader whose contributions have left a lasting impact on the Ondo State Command.

The Commandant wished the retired officer a fulfilling and rewarding retirement, expressing confidence that his legacy of professionalism and integrity would continue to inspire serving personnel.

The colourful ceremony was attended by senior officers, personnel of the Command, family members, friends, and well-wishers, who gathered to celebrate Deputy Commandant Adeyemo's outstanding service and invaluable contributions to the Corps.

COMMANDANT IBILOYE JOINS PANELISTS TO DISCUSS SECURITY AHEAD OF THE 2027 GENERAL ELECTIONS

On Sunday, 26th July 2026, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, joined other distinguished panelists at the 4th Edition of the YemieFash Online News Platform Interactive Session and Dinner, held at the International Event Centre (The Dome), Alagbaka, Akure.

The event, themed "Security Challenge and the Future of Nigeria: Implications for National Development Ahead of the 2027 Elections," brought together security experts, policymakers, media practitioners, and other stakeholders to deliberate on Nigeria's security challenges and the measures required to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process.

During the interactive session, participants emphasized the importance of proactive security strategies, inter-agency collaboration, intelligence sharing, and active citizen participation in strengthening national security and safeguarding Nigeria's democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking with journalists after the event, Commandant Ibiloye commended the YemieFash Online News Platform for providing a credible platform for constructive dialogue on issues of national importance. He noted that conversations such as these are vital to fostering collaboration among security agencies, the media, policymakers, and the public in addressing emerging security challenges.

The Commandant reaffirmed the commitment of the NSCDC to working with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to maintain peace, protect critical national assets and infrastructure, and ensure a safe and secure environment before, during, and after the 2027 general elections.

The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, JP, joined other security professionals from across the continent at the ASIS Sub-Sahara Africa Security Conference (SASCON) 2026, held at Lagoon Beach Hotel, Cape Town, South Africa, from July 21–22, 2026.

The conference, organised by the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS International)—the world's largest membership organisation for security management professionals—brought together experts, practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore innovative approaches to contemporary security challenges.

It focuses on framing Africa's multidimensional risks such as inequality, unemployment, crime, economic warfare, digital threats, and positioning the continent as a leader in human-centred security thinking.

With the theme, "Africa and Beyond – Security that Thinks, Protection that Feels," the conference featured insightful panel discussions on Africa's most pressing security concerns, exhibitions showcasing leading security brands and cutting-edge technologies, as well as networking sessions that fostered collaboration among top-tier security professionals and influencers from across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Commandant Ibiloye's participation at the conference reflects the NSCDC Ondo State Command's commitment to continuous professional development, global best practices, and strengthening institutional capacity in delivering effective security services.

Accompanying the State Commandant was the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the Commandant, Deputy Commandant Odunayo Yusuff, who is also a member of ASIS International. Their attendance provided an opportunity to engage with global security experts, exchange knowledge, and explore emerging trends and innovations that will further enhance security operations and critical asset protection in Nigeria.

The conference reaffirmed the importance of collaboration, innovation, and strategic partnerships in addressing evolving security threats across Africa and beyond.

NSCDC ONDO STATE COMMAND SECURES 5-YEAR CONVICTION OVER ILLEGAL DEALING IN PETROLEUM PRODUCTS

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps , NSCDC, NSCDC Ondo State Command State Command wishes to inform the general public that it has secured the conviction of one Omotugha Uyimigha for illegal dealing in petroleum products.

Uyimigha was arrested in 2019 by personnel of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base, Igbokoda, after he was found in possession of 92 drums of petroleum products suspected to be Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

In line with statutory mandate, the Nigerian Navy, being the arresting agency, transferred the suspect and the exhibits to the NSCDC for further investigation and prosecution.

The defendant was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Akure, presided over by Hon. Justice T. B. Adegoke.

After a diligent and prolonged legal process, the court on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 found Uyimigha guilty as charged. The court sentenced him to five (5) years imprisonment In addition, the court ordered the forfeiture of the 92 drums of petroleum products to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The Ondo State Command of the NSCDC reiterates its commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, and to bringing perpetrators of economic sabotage to justice.

We appreciate the collaboration of the Nigerian Navy and the judiciary in ensuring that justice was served. The Command also urges members of the public to continue to provide credible information that will help in curbing illegal oil bunkering and other acts of vandalism in the state.

COMMANDANT IBILOYE HOSTS NYCN LEADERSHIP, ADVOCATES YOUTH INVOLVEMENT IN SECURITY

The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command , Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye,JP, has advocated for the active involvement of young people in Nigeria's security architecture, stressing that sustainable peace and community safety require meaningful youth participation.

The Commandant made this known when he received the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ondo State Chapter, at the State Command Headquarters on Tuesday, 7th July, 2026.

The NYCN delegation, led by the State Chairman, Engr. Omomowo Babatunde, paid a courtesy visit to formally introduce the newly constituted State Executive Council and other key stakeholders of the Council to the Commandant.

Speaking during the visit, Engr. Omomowo stated that the purpose of the meeting was to reaffirm the Council's commitment to sustained collaboration with the NSCDC, strengthen the existing relationship between the youth and the Corps, and discuss issues relating to the growth, welfare, and advancement of young people across Ondo State.

According to him, "The Council recognises the vital role of the NSCDC in promoting peace and stability in the state, and we believe this visit will further foster mutual understanding and collaboration towards achieving our collective goals for the youths."

In his response, Commandant Ibiloye underscored the critical role of young people in crime prevention and nation-building, noting that the youth constitute both the most vulnerable group to criminal influence and the greatest force for positive change.

He observed that today's youths are making remarkable strides across different sectors and called for a renewed mindset that prioritises responsibility, accountability, and active citizenship. He further urged youth organisations to engage constructively with young people in government, encouraging them to demand greater representation and accountability in leadership.

The Commandant strongly advocated for a youth-focused and youth-inclusive security strategy, particularly in the area of intelligence gathering. He noted that the extensive grassroots networks of youth organisations could serve as valuable channels for providing timely and actionable intelligence to security agencies.

He concluded by emphasizing that criminal activities rarely thrive without the cooperation or silence of members of the host community, stressing that community participation remains indispensable in the fight against crime.

The visit further strengthened the partnership between the NSCDC Ondo State Command and the National Youth Council of Nigeria, reinforcing their shared commitment to youth development, community engagement, and the promotion of peace and security across Ondo State.

Commandant Oluyemi Joshua, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Ondo State Command ,had a conversation with Punch on the security situation in Ondo State and, by extension, the South-West.

We sometimes speak about security as though it is a service that the government simply delivers to citizens, but in reality, security is built through partnership.

Security agencies have a responsibility to prevent crime, enforce the law, and protect lives and critical assets. That responsibility is one we take seriously every day, but lasting security also depends on the choices made within our communities. It depends on whether people are willing to share credible information before a crime happens rather than after. It depends on whether we refuse to shield criminal elements simply because they are familiar faces. It depends on whether we see security as everyone's responsibility instead of someone else's job.

One issue he spoke about during the interview was the role local collaborators play in sustaining crimes such as kidnapping. Criminals rarely operate in complete isolation. They rely on information, logistics, and support from within communities. Until we address that reality, our fight against violent crime will remain more difficult than it should be.

He also shared his personal thoughts on state policing, technology, community intelligence, and why security must continue to evolve as criminal tactics evolve.

Crime changes, so security must also continue to adapt.

A YEAR OLDER AND BETTER: COMMANDANT IBILOYE MARKS BIRTHDAY

Encomiums have continued to pour in from friends, colleagues, student bodies, corporate organisations, and government functionaries as the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, Commandant Oluyemi Joshua Ibiloye, celebrates his birthday.

The celebration began in the early hours of the day when the Command’s band team surprised the Commandant with a special birthday performance, heralding the auspicious occasion.

At the office, officers and men of the Command also organised another surprise birthday celebration in his honour. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as the Commandant was welcomed with drumming and cheers from the gate of the Command to his office, creating a memorable and triumphant celebration.

Among the goodwill messages received was from the Public Relations Team of the Command, which described him as a leader who makes work meaningful through his support, guidance, and encouragement.

The team appreciated his commitment to creating an environment where personnel can learn, grow, and give their best, while wishing him continued success, good health, happiness, and more remarkable years ahead.

The National Female Students Association of Nigeria (NFSAN), Ondo State Chapter, also celebrated Commandant Ibiloye, describing him as an exceptional leader and distinguished public servant whose dedication to security, discipline, and nation-building continues to inspire many.

The association commended his professionalism, exemplary leadership, and commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while praying for greater wisdom, sound health, renewed strength, and divine favour in his continued service to humanity.

NSCDC ONDO ARRESTS SUSPECT FOR VANDALISING CRITICAL NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Obasi Ifesinachi, for allegedly vandalising critical national infrastructure in Iju Community, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The arrest was made as part of the Command's sustained efforts to safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure across the state.

The suspect, a resident of No. 32, Moferere Street, Iju, Akure North, was apprehended following a formal complaint lodged on 24 June 2026 by the Youth Leader of Iju Community regarding the activities of suspected vandals targeting an MRM telecommunications mast station in the area.

According to the Command, intelligence operatives, in collaboration with members of the community, placed the facility under covert surveillance. This operation led to the arrest of the suspect on Thursday, 25 June 2026, while his accomplices escaped.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and his accomplices unlawfully breached the fenced compound housing the telecommunications mast with the intention of dismantling and stealing valuable components.

A forensic assessment of the facility showed that the mast had been systematically loosened around its foundation bolts, while several critical components had already been disassembled by the vandals.

During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to the offence and admitted to having visited the facility on several previous occasions to carry out similar acts of vandalism while evading arrest.

Further investigation also revealed that the suspect had reportedly been banished from the community in May 2026 following his alleged involvement in the robbery of a residential building located opposite the telecommunications mast.

The Command stated that when confronted with substantial intelligence and physical evidence obtained during the investigation, the suspect made a written confessional statement admitting to both the current offence and other previous criminal activities.

Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye commended members of the Iju Community for their cooperation and urged communities across Ondo State to continue partnering with security agencies in protecting critical national assets and infrastructure.

He warned that organised criminal syndicates are actively involved in the systematic vandalisation of public infrastructure across the state and assured residents that the Command remains committed to identifying, arresting, and prosecuting all those involved.

The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Management Celebrates DCC Edonwonyi Monday Aigbe on His Retirement

The management of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, on Friday, 26 June 2026, celebrated Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Edonwonyi Monday Aigbe as he retired from active service after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.

DCC Aigbe served the Corps meritoriously for 22 years, demonstrating dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the service.

Speaking during the farewell ceremony, the State Commandant showered encomiums on the retiring senior officer, describing him as a man who served the command with honour, integrity, and dignity throughout his career.

Colleagues and members of staff also took turns sharing fond memories and recounting the rewarding experiences they had while working with DCC Aigbe, from his time at the Edo State Command to his service at the Ondo State Command. They praised his exemplary leadership, mentorship, and commitment to duty.
