Yesterday, Sunday, I represented His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, at the One-Day Nigeria Prays South-West Zone Rally held at the Cathedral Church of St. David’s, Ijomu, Akure.

The gathering, convened by former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd.), brought together Christian leaders, government officials and delegates from across the South-West to pray for Nigeria at this critical moment in our national journey.

In my remarks on behalf of the Governor, I emphasised the need for renewed prayers, moral regeneration, and unity of purpose as essential ingredients for sustainable national development. While government must continue to provide sound policies and effective leadership, the challenges confronting our nation also require the collective commitment, values, and prayers of our people.

I commend General Gowon and the Nigeria Prays movement for their enduring commitment to seeking God’s intervention for Nigeria. I also appreciate everyone who joined us in praying for national unity, peaceful coexistence, Ondo State and, particularly, our young people.

May our prayers be answered, and may Nigeria continue to move towards greater peace, prosperity, and unity.

Retired Chief Judge of Ondo State

On behalf of my family, I warmly congratulate my dear sister, Honourable Justice Olanrewaju Olutoyin Akeredolu, on the joyous occasion of your 70th birthday.

This Platinum Jubilee is not only a celebration of age but also of a life devoted to justice, integrity, and selfless service to our dear state and the nation. Your Lordship's distinguished career on the Bench stands as a testament to your unwavering commitment to fairness, equity, and the rule of law.

While serving as the Chief Judge of Ondo state, you upheld the sacred principles of justice with courage, wisdom, and remarkable impartiality. These sterling qualities have since remained the hallmark of the enviable position of the highest ranking judicial officer in the state.

Dear Dr. Tolu Adegbie,

On this wonderful occasion of your 60th birthday, I join family, friends, colleagues and numerous admirers in celebrating six decades of God's grace upon your life.

I have followed your professional journey with admiration, particularly your remarkable tenure as Chairman of the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS). Your work demonstrated what can happen when professionalism, discipline, innovation and a strong sense of public responsibility are brought together in the management of public institution.

Your transformation of ODIRS was not simply about increasing revenue but entrenching a culture of excellence in Public Service. What I personally found most remarkable was your work ethic and professionalism. You approached responsibilities with seriousness, attention to detail and uncommon commitment to excellence. You understood that public office is a responsibility, not a privilege, and that the true measure of leadership is the quality of institution one leaves behind.

Your subsequent transition from ODIRS to the national fiscal and tax reform space is therefore a natural progression of a career built on competence and service. Today, as Chief of Staff to the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Prof. Taiwo Oyedele, FCA, you continue to contribute your experience and expertise to the broader effort to strengthen Nigeria's fiscal and economic systems.

At 60, you have every reason to look back with satisfaction. Your career is a testament to the value of professional excellence, integrity and purposeful public service.

On behalf of my family, I warmly congratulate you on this significant milestone. I pray that Almighty God grants you many more years in good health, wisdom and fulfillment. May God continue to bless you with the strength to contribute meaningfully to the development of our dear nation.

Happy 60th Birthday, Tolu.

Yesterday, I was delighted to receive my sister from Owo and Founder of the Modupe Afiz-Ogun Foundation, Mrs Modupe Afiz-Ogun, who is in Ondo State as the Keynote Speaker at the Youth Entrepreneurship Summit holding in Owo on 13 August 2026, in commemoration of this year’s .

Her presence is particularly meaningful at a time when conversations around youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance have become more important than ever. Our young people possess tremendous energy, creativity, and talent; and with the right opportunities, mentorship, and support, they can become not just beneficiaries of development, but active drivers of economic transformation.

I was equally inspired by the vision shared by the Convener of the summit and Founder of The Entrepreneur's Forge, Opeyemi Ahmed, to make Owo the entrepreneurship hub of Ondo State. This is a bold and forward-looking vision that I wholeheartedly embrace. Owo has the human capital, enterprise, and youthful energy to build a thriving ecosystem where ideas can become businesses, skills can become livelihoods, and young people can find meaningful pathways to fulfil their potential.

I therefore pledge my full support for this important initiative and the broader vision of engaging, equipping, and empowering our young people in Owo and beyond.

I encourage our youths to embrace skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, innovation, and continuous learning. The future will belong increasingly to those who can create value, solve problems, and turn their skills and ideas into opportunities, not only for themselves but for others.

I look forward to a successful, impactful, and inspiring summit, and to seeing the vision of making Owo a leading centre of entrepreneurship in Ondo State grow from an idea into a lasting reality.

TRIBUTE TO DR. ADAMU MOHAMMED FIKA, mni, OFR

On behalf of my family, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the entire Fika family and the good people of Yobe State on the passing of their beloved patriarch, patriot, and elder statesman, Dr. Adamu Mohammed Fika, mni, OFR.

The news of his death is particularly painful to me, having had the rare privilege of working under his guidance and tutelage. I experienced firsthand, his exceptional qualities as a leader, administrator, mentor, and nation-builder.

As a young officer in the National Assembly Provisional Office, as it was then known, I had the privilege of working under his leadership. He took a keen interest in the development and career progression of young officers. He was a truly detribalised boss who believed in identifying, developing, and promoting competence, regardless of religious, ethnic or social background.

I remain particularly grateful for the confidence he reposed in me early in my career; Dr. Fika believed in my abilities and entrusted me with the responsibility of pioneering the Finance Department of the National Assembly. That opportunity became a defining moment in my professional journey and provided invaluable experience that ultimately prepared me for the higher responsibility of serving as Director of Finance and Accounts of the National Assembly.

Dr. Fika was a man of remarkable intellect, discipline, integrity, and uncommon commitment to public service. His distinguished career, spanning the civil service of the old Borno State, the National Assembly, the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru Jos, and later the National Assembly Service Commission, was characterised by excellence, institution-building, and purposeful leadership.

As Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, he distinguished himself as an astute manager of human resources. He contributed immensely to the strengthening and development of the legislative bureaucracy, while promoting professionalism, institutional stability, and adherence to best practices within the National Assembly.

On this solemn occasion, I commiserate with the Fika family, National Assembly family, his friends, associates, former colleagues, the National Assembly family, and all those whose lives were touched by his remarkable journey of service to the nation.

May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannah Firdaus, and grant the entire family the strength to carry on with his legacies of honesty, integrity, and excellence.
