‎...MINISTRY TO ANNOUNCE DATES FOR STATEWIDE CELEBRATION SOON
‎
‎The Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development, Delta State, Hon. Barr. Oyinkuro Brave Enodeh, has felicitated with young people across Delta State and Nigeria on the occasion of the 2026 International Youth Day, observed annually on August 12, reaffirming the commitment of the administration of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to creating an enabling environment for young people to thrive, prosper and contribute meaningfully to the development of the State.
‎
‎International Youth Day provides an opportunity for governments, development partners, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to recognise the enormous contributions of young people to social, economic and political development, while drawing attention to the challenges and opportunities confronting them. The United Nations observes the day every year on August 12.
‎
‎In a goodwill message to mark the occasion, Hon. Enodeh described the youth as the strength, energy and future of Delta State, noting that the State’s development aspirations could only be fully realised when young people are empowered with the right skills, opportunities, mentorship and platforms to participate actively in governance and economic development.
‎
‎The Commissioner said the celebration was particularly significant as it provides an avenue to reflect on the progress made in youth development, identify existing gaps and strengthen collective efforts towards building a generation of productive, innovative, responsible and self-reliant young Deltans.
‎
‎According to him, the MORE Agenda of the Oborevwori administration places strong emphasis on human capital development, economic empowerment, inclusiveness and creating opportunities for citizens, especially young people, to acquire the skills and support required to become productive contributors to society.
‎
‎Hon. Enodeh further stated that the Ministry of Youth Development under his leadership would continue to work closely with relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies, youth organisations, private-sector players, development partners and other stakeholders to advance programmes and policies capable of improving the welfare and socio-economic wellbeing of young people in the State.
‎
‎He noted that youth development must go beyond occasional empowerment initiatives, stressing the need for sustained interventions in skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, employment creation, education, leadership development, innovation, technology, sports, agriculture, creative industries and civic participation.
‎
‎The Commissioner also called on young Deltans to take advantage of available opportunities, remain committed to personal development, embrace entrepreneurship and skills acquisition, shun criminality and violence, and position themselves as responsible partners in the development of their communities and the State, urging youth leaders and organisations across the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State to continue to promote peace, unity, inclusiveness and constructive engagement, assuring them that the Ministry remains open to ideas and partnerships that will advance the interests and aspirations of young people.

‎DELTA STATE CELEBRATION
‎The Honourable Commissioner disclosed that the Delta State Ministry of Youth Development is making arrangements to commemorate the 2026 International Youth Day with young people and relevant stakeholders across the State.
‎He stated that the specific dates, venue and programme of activities for the Delta State celebration will be announced soon, urging young people, youth organisations, stakeholders and the general public to look forward to the official announcement from the Ministry.
‎
‎Hon. Enodeh said the forthcoming celebration would provide an opportunity for young people to interact, share ideas, showcase their talents and innovations, and engage with policymakers and other stakeholders on issues affecting their development and future.
‎
‎He assured young Deltans that the Ministry under his leadership would continue to prioritise programmes that promote youth inclusion, empowerment, skills development, entrepreneurship, leadership and meaningful participation in governance and community development.
‎
‎The Commissioner expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his commitment to the development of young people and for providing the necessary support and direction towards achieving the objectives of the Ministry.
‎
‎He also called on parents, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, private-sector organisations, development partners and youth-focused organisations to continue to support government efforts aimed at unlocking the potential of young people.

‎MESSAGE TO DELTA YOUTHS
‎Hon. Enodeh congratulated all young Deltans on International Youth Day and encouraged them to believe in themselves, acquire relevant skills, pursue excellence and remain positive contributors to society.

‎According to him, “the future of Delta State belongs to all of us, and our young people have a critical role to play in building the Delta State we desire. I urge every young Deltan to believe in their potential, embrace opportunities, develop their skills and remain committed to peace, hard work, innovation and responsible citizenship.”

‎He reiterated the commitment of the Ministry of Youth Development to working with young people and stakeholders to build a youth development framework that is inclusive, sustainable, participatory and responsive to the changing needs of young Deltans.

‎The Commissioner therefore wished young people across Delta State and Nigeria a happy and impactful International Youth Day 2026, assuring them that the Ministry would continue to champion policies and initiatives that place young people at the centre of the State’s development agenda.

NYCN Delta Congratulates DESOPADEC Chairman, John Nani, at 66

The Delta State Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN), has extended warm congratulations to the Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Hon. Barr. John Obukowho Nani on the occasion of his 66th birthday, describing him as an exceptional statesman, grassroots mobilizer, and a committed advocate for the growth and development of young people in Delta State.

In a congratulatory message signed by the State Director of Media, Comr. Aaron Afiogho, the Council celebrated Olorogun Nani's remarkable life of service, noting that his contributions to public administration, community development, youth empowerment, and the advancement of Delta State have earned him widespread admiration and respect.

According to the statement, the DESOPADEC Chairman has consistently demonstrated visionary leadership, unwavering passion to the welfare of oil-bearing communities, and an enduring commitment for sustainable development. Gov. Oborevwori’s APC Ticket Signals Continuity, Progress - NYCN

The Delta State Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, the umbrella body of all youth organizations and the voice of Nigerian youths, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, on his well deserved emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC), describing the development as a strong signal of continuity, stability, and sustained progress for the state.

Speaking at the State Collation Centre at the APC Secretariat in Asaba shortly after the announcement of results from the party’s direct primary election conducted across the 25 local government areas of the state, the NYCN Delta State Chairman, Comr. Sagboje Odiri Milton, said the outcome reflected the overwhelming confidence party members and supporters have in the governor’s leadership and administration.

According to him, results collated from the 25 LGAs showed that Governor Oborevwori secured all available votes cast during the direct primary election, a development he described as a clear endorsement of the governor’s performance and vision for Delta State.

Comr. Sagboje described the exercise as peaceful, transparent, credible, and well coordinated, commending party leaders, members of the electoral committee, and security agencies for ensuring a smooth and rancour-free process across the state.

He noted that the overwhelming outcome of the primary election further demonstrated the level of acceptance and support Governor Oborevwori enjoys among party faithful and residents of the state. “The emergence of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the APC governorship candidate is a clear demonstration of the confidence reposed in his administration and leadership style. It also reflects the collective desire of party members and Deltans to sustain continuity, stability, and development across the state,” he stated.

The NYCN chairman further expressed optimism that the governor’s candidacy would strengthen youth inclusion, empowerment, and participation in governance, while creating more opportunities for young people in entrepreneurship, leadership, and economic development.

Comr. Sagboje, who also serves as the Deputy National Secretary of the Forum of NYCN State Chairmen, urged youths across the state to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and politically responsible before, during, and after the 2027 general elections. He stressed the need for issue-based campaigns and peaceful political engagement, emphasizing that elections should serve as a platform for unity, development, and democratic advancement rather than division or violence.

Oghenesivbe as a thoroughbred administrator and visionary leader who has consistently deployed his wealth of knowledge and experience toward positively impacting young people across Delta State.

The State Chairman of the Delta State Council of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN), Comr. Sagboje Odiri Milton, CLN, has, on behalf of the youth constituency in Delta State, extended warm felicitations to the State President of the Boys Brigade Nigeria, Delta State Council, Comr. Ejuone Fejiro, a former NYCN Ethiope West Chairman and BOT of the Council in Ethiope West Local Government Area, on the occasion of his birthday anniversary.

In a statement by the State Director of Media, Comr.Aaron Afiogho, described Comr. Ejuone as an enterprising, disciplined, and committed youth leader whose consistent contributions to youth development and moral upbringing continue to positively influence young people across Delta State.

As part of sincere efforts to strengthen unity, restore stability, and reposition the National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN) for effective youth representation, and the dire need to foster reconciliation and credible leadership within the Council at the National Level, the Delta State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comr. Sagboje Odiri Milton, CLN, on Friday joined other State Chairmen, youth stakeholders, Voluntary Youth Organizations (VYOs), and representatives of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development at the National Management Meeting of the NYCN convened by the Interim Management Committee (IMC) at the National Council for Women Development (NCWD) Centre, Abuja.

The high-level National meeting, declared open by the Honourable Minister for Youth Development, Comr. Ayodele Olawande, focused on the strategic repositioning, unification, and reconciliation of the apex youth body in Nigeria.

Critical resolutions were reached during the meeting, including the constitution of 4 key committees, the review of the NYCN Constitution, and the approvl for the conduct of a fresh National Unity Congress aimed at ushering in a transparent, credible, and widely accepted leadership for the Council.

In his remarks at the meeting, Comr. Sagboje commended the ongoing reconciliation efforts and reaffirmed the commitment of the NYCN Delta State Chapter towards supporting all genuine initiatives geared at restoring stability, credibility, promoting peace, inclusiveness, democratic values, and sustainable youth development within the Council and across Nigeria.

He emphasized the need for Nigerian youths to embrace dialogue, unity, and responsible leadership in order to strengthen the voice of young people and promote sustainable national development.

He also passionately raised the issue of the unjust killing of 28-year-old Oghenemine Ogidi, a young Deltan whose death has continued to generate grief and concern among youths in Delta State and beyond.

He called for justice, accountability, and the protection of young Nigerians from unlawful killings and acts of violence, stressing that the lives of Nigerian youths must be treated with dignity and value at all times.

The meeting observed a one-minute silence in honour of late Chief Dr. Chijioke and Oghenemine Ogidi and further resolved to pursue the case to ensure that justice is serve.

The meeting further emphasized the need for solidarity among Nigerian youths and collective action in advancing the interests and aspirations of young people across the nation
