Today at Government House, Asaba, I joined His Excellency, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, Deputy Governor of Delta State, when he represented Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori,Governor of Delta State to receive participants of the Advanced Defence Intelligence Officers’ Course 16/2026 from the Defence Intelligence College, Karu, Abuja who were led by the Commandant of the College, Commodore Usman Bugaje
We later had a session in my office where I briefed them on the steps taken so far by state government that has brought about the prevailing peace and security enjoyed in the state
I stated that continuous collaboration, integration, and intelligence sharing among security agencies and non-state actors at all levels would help address the security challenges confronting the nation
I also noted that no single security agency could effectively tackle the country’s security challenges in isolation, noting that seamless integration of the various players would enhance intelligence gathering and increase security across the country.
While advocating for stronger regional security cooperation, i stressed the need for collaboration among states in the same geopolitical region, which would ensure effective intelligence sharing and make it difficult for criminals to move freely across state borders.
I also disclosed that the state government had strengthened its community-based security architecture through the engagement of forest guards and vigilante groups, noting that their knowledge of the terrain remained a major asset in combating insecurity,even as i
noted that the decision to reclaim and transform previously abandoned forests into productive economic spaces was part of the strategy of addressing insecurity by removing environments that could harbour criminal elements.
The study tour theme is "Strengthening National Resilience Through Integrated Intelligence, Multi-Agency Coordination, and Regional Security Cooperation."
