CORONAVIRUS: ASUAI URGES DELTANS TO BE MORE VIGILANT, OBEY SIT AT HOME ORDER
A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ossissa ward one, Ndokwa east local government area of Delta state, Honourable Chuks Asuai, has urged Deltans to take greater preventive measures against the coronavirus in view of the index case recently confirmed in the state by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control.
Asuai in a statement he issued in Asaba, said the situation called for greater vigilance to avoid contact with returnees from foreign countries or sick persons, stressing that the rule on social distancing must be strictly obeyed to prevent the spread of the virus.
He commended the Okowa administration for fighting COVID - 19 from different fronts, noting that the aggressive sensitization and awareness campaigns mounted by government went a long way in curtailing the spread of the disease in the state.
The PDP faithful also commended the state government for setting up a Food Bank to cushion the effect of the lockdown in the state on the economically weak, and advised that the food items be distributed across party lines in order to give every Deltan a sense of belonging at this critical time in history.
Asuai, who is the founder of Delta Grassroots Network (DGN) expressed optimism that the COVID - 19 pandemic would soon be brought under control and urged the people to pray fervently for God's intervention in the worrisome situation.
