DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT COMMENCES ON-LINE LISTING OF ALL BUSINESSES OPERATING IN THE STATE
The Delta State Government through the State Ministry of Commerce and Industry has commenced on-line listing of all businesses operating in the state through its Automation and computerization project. This is in-line with the Government’s pursuit for change and transformation.
The Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Dr. Chris Ekiyor said in a statement that businesses operating in the State are to be enlisted in the Ministry’s website: www.moci.dl.gov.ng and that this solution will assign a unique identification number to every captured business. He stated further that this solution will provide an electronic platform for all businesses captured to make revenue payments either on-line or through the banks irrespective of where they are located, hence businesses are to obtain their Delta State Business Identification Card (DELBI Card) from the Ministry.
The deliverables of the proposed project are multifarious and far reaching. It will create a comprehensive directory of Industries, Co-operatives and Business establishments in the State, taking into account both the formal and informal sectors. This will facilitate effective planning and distribution of infrastructure utilities and other resources in order to enhance productivity in the Industries and businesses as well as the communities where they are sited.
This platform would enable the ministry to understand the distribution of these Industries, Co-operatives and Business establishments on local government/senatorial district bases as well as serve as a guide to investors, marketers, suppliers, buyers and potential job seekers.
It will also facilitate industrial marketing and other forms of research as well as act as handy information pack for those preparing feasibility studies and business plans. It is intended to assist in assessing the level of industrial and economic growth in the different parts of the state, as well as comparison of the industrial development of Delta State with other states in Nigeria.
