Nigerian of the Week

Imagine reading aloud continuously for 431 hours, 31 minutes and 25 seconds. That is what five Nigerians - John Obot, Keturah Heman , Stephen Oyelami, Preciouslight Ukachi and Temitope Ogunremi - did in a historic achievement that has earned them a Guinness World Record for the Longest Marathon Reading Aloud. With the feat, they demonstrated exceptional discipline, intellectual endurance, and collaborative strength on a global stage.
Beyond the record itself, this milestone reinforces the importance of reading culture as a foundation for national development. At a time when attention spans are shrinking, this accomplishment highlights the enduring value of knowledge, literacy, and structured learning as tools for empowerment and progress.
This is the Nigeria we proudly present to the world - innovative, resilient, and committed to excellence. Therefore, these Nigerians represent our Nigerian of the Week.

Real Nigerian of the Week: Hammed Kayode Alabi

Hammed Kayode Alabi has been honoured with the 2025 Being Edinburgh Alumni Award by the University of Edinburgh, recognising alumni who create transformative impact in their fields and communities.

Chosen through alumni, student, and staff votes, the award was conferred during the summer graduation ceremony. It celebrates Hammed’s commitment to youth empowerment and access to education across Africa, including his work on the Skill2Rural Bootcamp and Rafiki AI, an AI-powered career advisor.

Through the Kayode Alabi Leadership and Career Initiative (KLCI), he continues to shape futures—most recently with Rafiki AI, Africa’s first generative AI platform for career guidance in underserved communities.

For his resilience, innovation, and global impact, we celebrate Hammed Kayode Alabi as the Real Nigerian of the Week.
