Mission:
To provide qualitative and functional education, in a conducive, technology-enabled, school environment, with effective teaching and learning that will result in positive change in the knowledge, skills and behaviour of learners in Edo State. The Ministry of Education serves as the “Parent Ministry” supervising the extra ministerial agencies listed as follows:

* Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) responsible for managing Pre-Primary Education, Primary Education and Junior Secondary Education
* Post Primary Education Board responsible for managing Senior Secondary Education
* Edo State Library Board responsible for managing libraries across the State
* Board of Technical and Vocational Education and Training

FULFILLING PROMISES, DRIVING PROGRESS IN EDO EDUCATION 🚍

In a clear demonstration of his commitment to the welfare of students and the advancement of education, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has fulfilled his promise with the delivery of two school buses to Edo State Polytechnic, Usen.

Following the commissioning of the internal road network just last week, staff, students, and the Chairman of the Board were today at the Ministry of Education to officially take delivery of the buses, presented on behalf of the Governor by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu.

The Honourable Commissioner expressed deep appreciation to His Excellency for his consistent fatherly leadership and unwavering dedication to improving learning conditions across the state. He noted that this gesture further reflects the administration’s resolve to support students with the tools and infrastructure needed for academic success.

The students, visibly elated, alongside the management and board, conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the Governor for yet another impactful intervention.

Earlier this week, the Edo State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, approved the promotion of teachers due for advancement across the state — a bold step towards strengthening the education workforce and boosting morale in the sector.

Following this milestone, the Ministry of Education organised a capacity-building training for teachers under the State Secondary Education Board (SSEB) and the Board for Technical and Vocational Education (BTVE) in Edo South Senatorial District.

The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, reiterated government’s commitment to teachers’ welfare, describing educators as the backbone of Edo’s future. EMPOWERING EDUCATORS, SHAPING THE FUTURE

Yesterday, the Edo State Ministry of Education joined stakeholders at the Seplat Energy JV 2026 Teachers’ Graduation Ceremony, where over 625 teachers from Edo and Delta States were successfully trained and empowered.

The impactful programme, themed “Teach, Inspire and Transform,” reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the quality of education through continuous teacher development and improved classroom delivery.

Speaking at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, commended Seplat Energy JV for this laudable initiative, noting that investing in teachers is key to building a stronger, more innovative education system. He further encouraged beneficiaries to cascade the knowledge gained to students and fellow educators across the state.

YESTERDAY WAS A GREAT DAY IN EDO STATE.

History was made at Edo State Polytechnic, Usen as the long-awaited commissioning of the internal road network project was officially carried out — a landmark achievement coming 23 years after the institution’s establishment.

The event was graced by His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, alongside the Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Chiedu Ebie, the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, the Honourable Minister for Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, the Chairman, Senate Committee on NDDC, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, members of the NDDC Board, and other distinguished dignitaries.

The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, was also on ground, reaffirming the State’s commitment to improving learning environments and infrastructure across all institutions.
