Episode 28.
The following day, Susan was released from the hospital. As she and Jude shared dinner, he let out a heavy sigh, his eyes fixed on her as she ate. Noticing his gaze,
"What?"she asked,
"Are you really sure about this?" he asked. Susan nodded resolutely. "But you can't, sis. Don’t you realize this will hurt him deeply?" he pressed.
"I know, but it’s for the best," she replied.
"What about your feelings for him? Hiding something like this will..." He paused, frustration bubbling beneath the surface, then sighed. "Please, sis, tell him."
"I won’t. I’m doing this for him and for everyone. You promised you wouldn’t tell anyone else about this," she insisted, and Jude sighed wearily.
Meanwhile, late into the night, Jimmy sat alone on his couch, enveloped in sadness as he stared at a photo of Susan on his phone. Tears pooled in his eyes, and he sniffed, struggling to hold them back. He ignored the incessant ringing of his phone; he didn’t want to talk to anyone—he just wanted to be alone.
"Jimmy," Rachel called softly from outside his door, knocking gently. "Please open up; you’ve been in there all day." He remained silent. "Everyone is worried about you. Please, just open the door," she begged, but still, there was no response. "Your friends are here," she added, her voice tinged with urgency.
"Jimmy," Samuel’s voice broke through.
"Open up, buddy. We have something to share with you," Austin chimed in, but they were met with silence.
Frustrated, they returned to the living room, disappointment hanging in the air.
"Did he open up?" Mirabel asked, her eyes searching theirs. They shook their heads.
"What do we do now?" Rachel asked, sadness creeping into her tone.
"Is his balcony open?" Austin suggested, looking at the group.
"Balcony?" Greg echoed, puzzled.
"Yes! Since we can’t get him to open the door, we can try the balcony," he urged, and they all sensed the logic in his words.
"Austin and I can check if his balcony door is open," Samuel offered.
"Sure, let’s go check," Greg agreed, and the three of them headed out, leaving Rachel and Mirabel behind, their hearts heavy with worry.
They approached the rear of the house, where Jimmy's room lay, and noticed that his balcony was ajar.
“It’s a good thing his balcony is open,” Samuel remarked.
“Is there a ladder?” Austin inquired.
“Yes, let me grab it,” Greg replied, and Samuel followed him. After a brief moment, they returned, carrying the ladder, which they positioned against the wall of the balcony.
“I’ll climb first,” Austin proposed, beginning his ascent as they steadied the ladder for him. He reached the top safely, and Samuel followed closely behind.
Inside, they found Jimmy slumped on the couch, his eyes glued to his phone, an air of sadness enveloping him.
“Hey buddy,” Austin greeted as they settled down beside him, but Jimmy remained fixated on the screen.
“It’s good to see you’re alive and well,” Samuel teased, attempting to lift his spirits, though they both sighed, aware of his struggles.
“You need to take it easy, man,” Austin urged.
“Her lost memory is just temporary; she’ll remember you soon,” he reassured.
“Everyone is worried about you,” Austin added gently.
“Jimmy, please don’t do this,” Samuel pleaded, and they sighed heavily, realizing he wasn’t ready to engage or even look at them.

The following day, Jimmy emerged from his room, dressed and ready to leave. He walked into the living room, where his family was gathered for lunch. As he took a step toward the exit, his mother’s voice stopped him in his tracks, though he didn’t turn to face her.
“Come on, son, join us for lunch. I made your favorite,” Mirabel called out.
“Not hungry,” he replied curtly, continuing on his way before anyone could respond, leaving them with a collective sigh.
*Susan apartment*
Jimmy drove up to the house, honking the horn to summon the security guard. The guard rushed from the building, hastily making his way to the gate. He swung it open, allowing Jimmy to enter, then locked it securely behind him before approaching the car as Jimmy stepped out.
"Good day, sir. It seems you were busy inside," Jimmy remarked with a firm tone.
"Not really," the guard replied. "I was just ensuring the premises were secure." Jimmy's brow furrowed in confusion.
"What do you mean? Aren't Aunt Susan and Uncle Jude around?"
"Um, no sir. They left this morning, but she left a letter for you. Let me hurry and get it," he said, darting toward his security house.
Standing there, bewildered, Jimmy watched as the guard returned with a brown envelope, pointing it toward him. Hesitation washed over Jimmy as he considered taking it.
"What's this?" he asked.
"My boss asked me to give you this letter," the guard said, extending the envelope. Jimmy took it, pausing for a moment before carefully peeling it open.
As he unfolded the white paper, the words began to blur through his tears.
Dear Jimmy,
By the time you read this letter, I will be gone. I don’t know if you’ll ever see it, but I hope you do, so I can express the things I couldn’t say while I was still here.
I know our love story was complicated. We came from different worlds, and our age difference was just one of many obstacles that made our love a recipe for disaster. But I never cared about any of that. I loved you, Jimmy, with every fiber of my being. I cherished the way you made me feel, how you saw me, and the love you returned.
But love isn’t always enough, is it? I realized I was holding you back, preventing you from living the life you deserve. You’re young, Jimmy, and your future is bright. I couldn’t be the one who kept you from that.
I've left. Please don’t try to find me, Jimmy. I need you to move on, to discover someone who can love you the way you deserve. Someone who can give you the joy and affection you gave me. I want you to be happy, to laugh, to love, and to truly live.
Don’t look back, Jimmy. Don’t dwell on what might have been. Just remember the good times we shared, the laughter, and the love, and know that I’ll always be watching over you, smiling at the thought of your happiness.
I don’t know where to start or what to say. I’m so sorry for leaving like this, without a proper goodbye. I know you deserve better, but I had to leave to save you, to save us.
I’m truly sorry for not being strong enough to fight for us, for not being able to face your mother and the world for you. I’m sorry for not being the woman you deserved.
This isn’t a goodbye, Jimmy. It’s a letting go. Let go of me, and find your own path.
Yours always,
Susan
Jimmy sank to his knees, clutching the letter tightly as tears streamed down his cheeks. The security guard stood nearby, unsure of how to respond to the heart-wrenching scene unfolding before him.
“No, please,” Jimmy murmured, still staring at the letter with trembling hands.
*Greg mansion*
Everyone sat in the living room, anxiously awaiting Jimmy's return. Hours had passed since he left, and his phone calls went unanswered.
"I wonder where he could be?" Rachel mused, just as the doorbell rang, drawing everyone's attention.
Jimmy stepped inside, engulfed in sadness and pain, tears brimming in his eyes as he clutched a letter. The room fell silent, and everyone rose to greet him.
"Son, what's wrong?" Greg asked, concern etched on his face as Jimmy raised his gaze to meet his father's.
"Dad!" he cried, rushing into Greg's embrace, sobbing bitterly. "She left! She left me!"
Mirabel took the letter from his trembling hands, glancing at its contents alongside Rachel.
Jimmy collapsed to the floor, his father still holding him tight as he wept. Mirabel and Rachel exchanged shocked looks, guilt washing over Mirabel as she hurried to her son, desperate to console him, tears of regret streaming down her cheeks.
"Son, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me," she pleaded, but Jimmy's sobs grew more intense as he clung to his father.
"Please, I want Aunt Susan back! Why did she have to leave me? Bring Aunt Susan back to me!" he cried, and Rachel, too, felt her own tears slip down her face as they all tried to comfort him.
The room was heavy with heartbreak and despair, as everyone enveloped him in their arms, striving to soothe his anguish.
