NYSC EDO STATE HOLDS JAC SENSITIZATION FOR OUTGOING CORPS MEMBERS

The Job Advisory and Counseling (JAC) sensitization program was held for outgoing corps members of the 2024 Batch C Stream 1 orientation course in Edo State today, October 24, 2025, at the JBS Center, Benin city.

The event, which also took place across all zones of the state, was organized by NYSC to equip corps members with essential skills and knowledge to navigate their post-service year journey.

Representing the State Coordinator, NYSC Edo State, Assistant Director, Skill Acquisition And Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), Mrs. Funmilayo Oluwatoyin Grace, emphasized the importance of the program and encouraged corps members to gain valuable insights from the resource persons.

Pastor Blessed Edwin from Bright Path Development Hub sensitized corps members on employability skills, advising them to prepare ahead of time, make informed career decisions, and seek jobs that challenge and develop their skills.

The second guest speaker, Mr. Ojo Akin Longe, former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, shared insights on overcoming the fear of post-service year challenges, encouraging corps members to be resilient, hopeful, and entrepreneurial.

The Head of ICT Unit, Mr. Saka Abdulkadir, provided guidelines on preparing CV banks, CV bank videos, and job portals.

In her closing remarks, Mrs. Funmilayo highlighted soft loan opportunities available to corps members to support small business startups and advised them to leverage these opportunities to establish small businesses for themselves after service year.

The program was attended by zonal inspector and LGI Oredo, Mr Paul Emmanuel and Mrs Anyaru Ijeoma and other NYSC officials.

Corps members expressed appreciation to the State Coordinator and NYSC for the opportunity.

MAKE POSITIVE IMPACT IN YOUR HOST COMMUNITIES - SENATOR OKPEBHOLO CHARGES CORPS MEMBERS.

The Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has charged Corps members to always make positive impact in their host communities during the service year.

His Excellency, gave this admonition today at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Okada, Ovia North East LGA while declaring closed the 2025 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course for Corps members deployed to Edo state.
Senator Okpebholo speaking through the State Coordinator, NYSC Edo State, Dr. (Mrs) Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma, charged them to impact positively in their host Communities through personal and group Community Development Service(CDS) projects.

Speaking further, His Excellency, encouraged the Corps members to sustain the high level of patriotism, discipline, hard work and resilience which they have imbibed during the three weeks orientation course, practice their religious beliefs without trying to impose same on others, as well as focus on achieving the objectives of the scheme.
He reminded them, that the SAED Programme, is a valuable tool for empowering themselves economically and preparing for life beyond the service year.

The Corps members were also advised to prioritize their safety and avoid unnecessary journeys, late night outings, accepting free rides from strangers, and to key into the economic opportunities available in Edo State, especially the Edo State Skills Department Agency, Edo Jobs which offers a wide range of resources to develop their talents and contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of the state.

Thereafter, the 2025 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course in Edo State was declared closed.

BEN-USHIE DEBRIEFS THE 2025 BATCH 'B' STREAM II CORPS MEMBERS IN EDO CAMP.

The State Coordinator, NYSC Edo State, Dr (Mrs) Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma has charged the 2025 Batch 'B' Stream II Corps members deployed to Edo State to sustain the attitude of discipline imparted in them during the three weeks intensive Orientation Course.
She made this declaration earlier today while debriefing the 2025 Batch 'B' Stream II Corps members deployed to Edo State at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Okada, Edo State.

The NYSC Edo team lead also encouraged them to accept their posting in good faith and make positive impact in their respective host communities, informing them that anyone that was genuinely rejected by their employer should promptly report to the Local Government Inspector for prompt action.

The State Coordinator, while also cautioned Corps members against travelling without permission and undertaking night journey.

She reiterated the need for Corps members to dress properly and decently and to obey the culture and tradition of their host Communities.

Earlier, there was recap of all the lectures held during the Orientation exercise by selected Corps Members from the 10 platoons.

The Zonal Inspectors as well as Local Government Inspectors were duly introduced to the Corps members.

Thereafter, the State Coordinator, Dr (Mrs) Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma, equally appreciated Camp Officials for their support throughout the Orientation exercise.

BEAUTIFUL CULTURAL CARNIVAL FLOAT HOLDS IN EDO CAMP AMIDST GLITZ AND GLAMOUR.

The 2025 Batch 'B' Stream II Corps members in Okada, Ovia North Local Government Area of Edo State, came together to showcase the rich cultural heritage of our dear Nation at the Carnival Float held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Okada.

The Cultural Carnival, a Programme that portrays the unity in our diversity through our cultural heritage as a nation, was colourful as both Corps members and Camp Officials were fully in attendance and participated actively.

Earlier, the State Coordinator, NYSC Edo State, Dr (Mrs) Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma, during her opening remarks, expressed her appreciation and gratitude to all Corps members and Camp Officials for participating actively in the Carnival Float. She called on them to continue exhibiting good conduct and equally to respect the culture, values and norms of members of their host Communities.

The event portrayed various culture and tradition of different ethnic groups in Nigeria.

At the end of all presentation, Platoon 7, that showcased the rich Fulani cultural heritage emerged winners, Platoon 10 came second having portrayed the IGBO cultural heritage while, Platoon 3 that showcased the Gbagi cultural heritage, clinched the third position.

The event came to a close with the closing remarks of the Camp Director, Mrs Funmilayo Oluwatoyin Grace, who subsequently declared the 2025 Batch 'B' Stream II Carnival Float closed.

SAED EXHIBITION MARKS GRAND CONCLUSION OF IN-CAMP TRAINING AT THE PERMANENT ORIENTATION CAMP OKADA, EDO STATE

The NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Okada came alive with colour and creativity today Friday, 10th October 2025, as corps members showcased their talents at the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Exhibition, marking the official conclusion of the in-camp training program for the 2025 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course.

Corps members proudly displayed innovative products and projects produced during their intensive hands-on sessions in various skills areas, including ICT, Cleaning Services & Hygiene, and the Creative Industry. The exhibition reflected the corps members’ ingenuity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial potential.

Results were announced for the SAED classes. For the Cosmetology class, Platoon 3 emerged as the winner, with platoons 1 and 5 placing second and third respectively. For the Makeup and Gele class, Platoon 5 came first, with platoons 4 and 10 coming second and third. For the Bead making and Bridal accessories class, Platoon 4 came first with platoons 5 and 2 placing second and third. For the public speaking class, platoon 1 emerged the winner, and platoons 6 and 4 held the second and third positions respectively. Lastly, the Hair making class had Platoon 3 as the winner, with platoons 1 and 10 placing second and third, participants were honoured with certificates of participation, presented by the Head of Finance and Accounts, the Camp Director, and the State Coordinator.

The State Coordinator, Dr (Mrs) Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma in her address, commended the corps members for their enthusiasm and dedication throughout the training. She encouraged them to sustain the momentum after camp, emphasizing that the skills acquired could empower them to become self-reliant and employers of labour.

PLATOON 1 EMERGES WINNER OF THE 2025 BATCH 'B' STREAM II INTER-PLATOON DRILLS COMPETITION IN EDO CAMP.

The Inter-Platoon Drills Competition for the 2025 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course took place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Parade Ground Okada, after several days of intense preparations by the Corps members and their drills Instructors.

While giving his speech shortly before the commencement of competition, the Camp Commandment Major OG Okoro expressed his delight to the State Coordinator, NYSC Edo State, Dr (Mrs) Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma for providing necessary supports towards the drills competition and specifically commended the Corps members for their hardwork while also drawing their attention to the rules guiding the drills competition.

The State Coordinator, NYSC Edo State, Dr (Mrs) Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma equally praised the Corps members for their dedication throughout the drills rehearsals and encouraged them to put in their best as she declared the competitions open.

After a dazzling demonstration of exceptional drills, passion and team spirit, Platoon 1 emerged as winners with Platoon 4 and 2 following closely in second and third positions respectively.

The State Coordinator, NYSC Edo State, Dr (Mrs) Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma, appreciated the Camp Commandant, Major OG Okoro, the Judges for their fair judgement during the competition and commended all the platoons for their efforts, emphasizing that they were all winners for putting in so much effort in the competition.

The event was concluded with the presentation of trophies and a photo session with the State Coordinator and other distinguished camp officials while the winners jubilated excitedly.

MAGGI SPICES EDO NYSC ORIENTATION CAMP WITH CULINARY CONTEST

Nigeria's popular seasoning brand, Maggi, has spiced the ongoing 2025 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Okada, with culinary competition and other activities.

During the colourful event, corps members were engaged in series of activities as Maggi organised competitions in rapping, dancing and cooking. The event was part of the brand’s camp activation, aimed at promoting creativity and teamwork among young Nigerians.

Leading the culinary segment was Chef Damilo, the Head Chef, alongside Chef Lizzy and Chef Oge. She introduced corps members to the unique Maggi Jollof Signature Seasoning, a natural blend designed to enhance the flavour of stews, pasta, noodles, and rice dishes without artificial additives.

The chefs also demonstrated a variety of creative Jollof recipes, including: Dodo Pineapple Chicken Jollof Rice by Chef Damilo Nutty Coconut Jollof by Chef Emmanuel Agemawo (Native) Jollof by Chef Oge Smoky Party Jollof – by Chef Lizzy.

Earlier, while declaring the event open, the State Coordinator, NYSC Edo State, Dr (Mrs) Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma in her opening remarks, eulogized the Maggie Jellof brand for the initiative and choosing to identify with the NYSC Edo orientation camp. She noted that apart from the fun of the event, the maggi jollof competition will also avail the corps members opportunity to showcase their culinary talents.

During the dance contest, Folaranmi Foluso Solabomi of Platoon 10 emerged first position and smiled out with gift items after minutes of leg works.

At the end of the cooking competition, Platoons 5, 6, 7 and 8 took the first position claiming a huge sum of N150,000, followed by Platoons 2, 10 and 4 in second place and smiling home with N90,000 while Platoons 1 , 3 and 9 placed third with a cash prize of #60,000

PLATOONS 10 AND 5 CLINCHED MISS BIG, BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL AND MR HANDSOME COMPETITIONS IN EDO CAMP

Platoons 10 and 5 clinched the highly anticipated Miss Big Bold and Beautiful and Mr Handsome Pageants.
The competition, which held at the Multipurpose Hall of NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Okada, showcased the display of beauty, talent and confidence of the contestants on platoon basis.

The Competition was proudly sponsored by the MINIMIE NOODLES COMPANY led by Mr Daniel Oyinloye, the sales manager, Benin City, Edo State and his team.

The Pageant aimed to celebrate body positivity and showcase men and women of all shapes and sizes. The ten Corps contestants, each representing their different platoons, stepped onto the stage with gait and poise. The audience erupted in applause as they witnessed the incredible array of confidence and poise displayed by the ladies and gentlemen Corps members.

UZOMA PATRICIA U (ED/25B/2130) representative of 10 Platoon captured the hearts of the judges and the audience from the very beginning with her radiant smiles and magnetic personality. She confidently and almost professionally catwalked across the stage while captivating everyone in the hall.
Her self-confidence and beauty resonated across the crowd making her an instant frontrunner.

Throughout the talent segment the representative of 10 Platoon showcased her mesmerizing dance routine combining elegance and fierceness flawlessly. Her performance captured the attention of the Judges who were in awe of her skill and dedication.

Finally the moment of truth arrived as the Miss Big Bold and Beautiful crown was placed on the representative of Platoon 10, UZOMA PATRICIA U, second position went to AWALITE A. NNEOMA.(ED/25B/1414) and third position EFAGWU PRINCESS P. (ED/25B/2135).

EDO STAFF AND CORPS MEMBERS SENSITIZED ON SERVICE INNOVATION COMPETITION

As part of efforts of the NYSC Scheme to boost innovation and creativity, a sensitization lecture was held at the Permanent Orientation camp in Okada, Edo State, to enlighten corps members and staff on the upcoming Service Innovation Competition.

Mr. Arinze Peter, Assistant Director from the Service Delivery Division of NYSC Reforms Coordination And Service Improvement Department at the National Directorate Headquarters, who delivered the lecture, explained the meaning, need, and elements of innovation, highlighting the Nigerian government's focus on innovation to improve service delivery to citizens.

Mr. Arinze emphasized the importance of innovation, noting that it brings new ideas for better efficiency, helps to reduce government expenditure, and enhances service delivery. He also stressed that innovation enables corps members to develop new ways of doing things, become self-reliant, and create jobs for themselves.

Mr. Wahed Ozeto, Service Innovation Pipeline Officer Edo State, added that the competition aims to harness the youthful talents of corps members. He explained that the competition will bring forth cost-saving ideas, adoption of emotional intelligence, and methodology tools, among others.

Mr. Ozeto also encouraged both staff and corps members to participate in the competition, so as to showcase their creative talents, which will not only benefit the scheme, but the nation at large.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER BUA CEMENT VISITS NYSC EDO STATE COORDINATOR, SEEKS STRONGER COLLABORATION.

The Senior Human Resource Manager BUA Cement, Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area, Mr Phillips Odion Magnus has commended the NYSC Edo State for sustaining the achievement of the scheme's objectives of National unity and integration through its various activities.

Mr Phillip made this assertion earlier today during his courtesy visit to the NYSC Edo State Coordinator, Dr (Mrs) Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Okada.

While appreciating the State Coordinator for a warm reception, Mr Phillip informed her that he deemed it fit to officially familiarize with her for improved understanding and a robust working relationship between the two organizations.

Mr Phillip also spoke extensively on the various ways the institution has benefited from the scheme since its inception. He also expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment of corps members serving with them and requested for more.

He equally used the medium to inform the State Coordinator that the management of BUA Cement has approved the purchase of three (3) sewing machines to support the Skill Acquisition And Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme in the stateas stated in state. He also presented some survenirs to the State Coordinator to mark their customers relations week.

In her remarks, the State Coordinator, NYSC Edo State, Dr (Mrs) Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma on behalf of Management, expressed appreciation for the visit and assured the Senior Human Resources Manager, BUA Cement of the preparedness of the NYSC scheme at sustaining the existing relationship between the two establishments.

NYSC EDO HOLDS MISS NYSC AND MR MACHO COMPETITIONS, CROWNS WINNERS.

It was a night of great excitement in Okada Camp as Miss NYSC and Mr Macho Contestants showcased raw talents to entertain the Corps members and Camp Officials.

The event was sponsored by Indomie Noodles led by Mr Victor Odoma, the Territory Manager, Benin City, Edo State.

In her remarks, the State Coordinator, NYSC Edo State, Mrs Ben-Ushie Frances Ifeoma who was ably represented by the Camp Director, Mrs Funmilayo Oluwatoyin Grace, expressed appreciation to the Socials Committee for organizing the event and further appreciated the sponsors "INDOMIE NOODLES" for the provision of prizes for winners of the keenly contested competitions.

The State Coordinator encouraged the Corps members to unwind after the rigorous activities of the day and subsequently declared the Variety Night open.

Miss NYSC and Mr Macho Contestants came out for their first and second appearances showcasing their elegance and beautiful strides.
An entertaining dance competition took over the stage as contestants of Miss NYSC and Mr Macho entertained the crowd for the second appearance after which questions were administered on them.

To end the exciting event, the winners, second and third runners up of the Miss NYSC and Mr Macho for 2025 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course were announced.
At the end, contestants from Platoon 3 EZIOKWU UKAMAKA JENNIFER (ED/25B/2103) and ARAROBA FERANMI SAMUEL from Platoon 1(ED/25B/1531) were crowned MISS NYSC and MR MACHO for the 2025 Batch 'B' Stream II Orientation Course, respectively.

It was a remarkable night that ended beautifully to the Glory of God.
