EDO HOUSE OF JUSTICE
EDO 2016 GOVERNORSHIP: WE DEMAND EQUITY AND FAIRNESS
Edo State has three senatorial districts namely:
1. Edo South Senatorial
2. Edo Central Senatorial
3. Edo North Senatorial
At the very beginning, our leaders met and zoned the governorship position to Edo South and Deputy to Edo North. The first beneficiaries then were Chief John Odigie Oyegun (South) and Rev. Obadan (North) whose tenure lasted only TWO YEARS.
During the 1999 election, it was agreed that since the Binis (South) did only two years, they should be allowed to complete their tenure, bringing the Binis’ turn to a total of TEN YEARS.
In 2007, Prof. Osunbor (Edo Central) and Lucky Imasuen (Edo South) took over, but the court truncated that regime in just Eighteen (18) months. This brought in Comrade Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North) and Dr. Odubu (Edo South) during their second term bid, it was agreed that Edo North be allowed to complete their tenure. This paved the way for Comrade Oshiomhole and Dr. Odubu’s overwhelming victory in 2012.
SUMMARY OF GOVERNORS TENURE
Edo South -10 years
Edo Central -1 year and six months
Edo North - 8 years
SUMMARY OF DEPUTY GOVERNORS TENURE
Edo South - 9 ½ years
Edo Central - Nil
Edo North - 10 years
Form the analysis so far, you will agree the “the facts speak for itself” (Res lpsa loquitor)
The House of Justice therefore resolves as follows:
1. It is turn of Edo Central to produce the next Governor of Edo State come 2016
2. We plead with all the good people of EDO STATE to be honourable, considerate and show understanding by giving the necessary support and cooperation to Edo Central to produce the next Governor of our dear State.
3. We call on every citizen of Edo State to rise up against injustice and marginalization and to embrace the principle of Equity, Fairness, even participation and the doctrine of ROTATION of POWER.
4. We also use this medium to call on the Edo State Counsel of Traditional Rulers to prevail on our political leaders to listen to the voice of reason and do the needful. As custodians of cultural and traditional values of Edo people. They are properly equipped with wisdom and ordained by God Almighty to sit as ministers in the temple of justice. Do not fail us.
