Speaking during the exercise, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola, who represented the Lagos State Head of Service, urged residents to make environmental cleanliness a daily responsibility rather than wait for the monthly sanitation exercise.

In her remarks, Chairman Adedeji reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to maintaining a cleaner and healthier Bariga.

> “We will continue to improve on our commitment to a cleaner Bariga. We will not rest on our oars. We will continue to clear our drainages and evacuate refuse from identified black spots. We also commend our LAWMA franchise operators for their prompt attention.”»

The Chairman further appealed to the Lagos State Government for intervention at Emmanuel Church Street, stressing that while the Local Council is doing its best within its capacity, additional support from the State Government would further enhance environmental management in the area.

The Chairman, alongside the Lagos State officials, participated in sanitation activities at Ewenla and Ekimogun Canal. They also visited the newly constructed monument pillars at Orita New Era, formerly Orita Fogo, and New Garage/Jolad Junction.

The State officials commended Chairman Adedeji for transforming the locations from notorious refuse-dumping spots into aesthetically pleasing landmark sites and assured the Council of continued collaboration and support from the Lagos State Government.

*Among the dignitaries present were Hon. Samuel Apata, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Somolu II; Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, Executive Director, representing the Managing Director of LAWMA; Dr. Bankole Michael, Director, Climate Education; Mr. Adegbite, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources; Mr. Babatunde Onigbanjo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment; Mrs. Toyin Oke-Osayintolu, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development; representatives of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), LASTMA, LAWMA street sweepers, newsmen, and other environmental stakeholders.*
