🎥 *VIDEO: CHAIRMAN ADEDEJI ILLUMINATES SHOGBAMU STREET (ORITA FOGO)*

The Executive Chairman of Bariga Local Council, *Hon. Adedeji Bukola Omope, FCPA*, has successfully illuminated Shogbamu Street, popularly known as Orita Fogo, with the installation of solar-powered streetlights under the Operation Light Up Bariga Initiative.

This milestone project forms part of the second phase of the initiative. The first phase saw several streets and previously dark spots across Bariga lit up to significantly improving visibility and safety within the community.

Shogbamu Street is one of the most strategic roads in Bariga, serving as a vital link between Bariga and Kosofe Local Government. The road connects residents to Oworonshoki, provides access to the Third Mainland Bridge, and extends to Ifako/Soluyi and surrounding areas. It also leads to key commercial hubs, including the popular Bariga markets.

The illumination of Shogbamu Street is expected to boost nighttime commercial activities, strengthen security and public safety and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the environment.

This project is one of several people-centered initiatives being implemented by the Executive Chairman to improve the standard of living and overall well-being of residents in Bariga.

PRESS RELEASE

*FREE NIN REGISTRATION FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS IN BARIGA*

Bariga Local Council, under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, *Hon. Adedeji Bukola Omope, FCPA*, in collaboration with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), is set to commence a free National Identification Number (NIN) registration exercise for pupils across all 30 public primary schools in Bariga.

The exercise is scheduled to begin on Monday, 30th March 2026, and is part of the administration’s continued effort to promote inclusive access to essential government services.

This initiative follows the recent successful community-wide NIN registration facilitated by the Council, which covers residents across the eight wards of Bariga. In recognition of the importance of early identity registration, the Chairman has extended this gesture to primary school pupils, particularly in view of the requirement of NIN for the Common Entrance Examination.

Hon. Adedeji reiterated that this intervention is aimed at reducing the financial burden on parents and guardians, while ensuring that no child is left behind in accessing vital identification services.

The Chairman further assured residents that the next phase of the exercise will cover public secondary schools across the Local Council.

This initiative underscores the unwavering commitment of the Bariga Local Council administration to inclusivity, equity, and people-oriented governance, ensuring that all residents, regardless of social status, religion, or political affiliation, benefit from impactful government programs.

The school teachers and stakeholders are encouraged to support and cooperate with officials to ensure the smooth and successful implementation of the exercise.
