SHEHU BUBA LEADS PRP CAMPAIGN FLAG-OFF FOR DISINA, SAKWA ASSEMBLY BYE-ELECTIONS
Senator Shehu Buba Umar, the Bauchi State governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) for the 2027 election, has led party stalwarts and supporters in the formal flag-off of campaigns for the party’s candidates contesting the forthcoming State Assembly bye-elections in Disina and Sakwa constituencies of Bauchi State.
The campaign activities took place in Disina District of Shira Local Government Area and Sakwa District of Zaki Local Government Area, where Senator Shehu Buba presented the party’s candidates to party members, supporters and residents while calling for peaceful, issue-based and credible elections.
In Disina District, Senator Shehu Buba was accompanied by Hon. Abubakar Kani Faggo, former member of the House of Representatives and PRP candidate for the Shira and Giade Federal Constituency, as well as Hon. Mohammed Samaila Isah, the PRP candidate for Shira State Constituency.
Together, they presented Alhaji Rilwanu Galadiman Disina as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming bye-election.
Addressing supporters, Senator Shehu Buba urged political leaders and their supporters to conduct themselves with civility and responsibility, particularly during political campaigns.
He expressed concern over the use of hateful and inappropriate language by some public figures, noting that political leaders have a responsibility to set positive examples for younger generations.
The senator emphasised that political competition should be centred on ideas, policies, leadership qualities and service to the people rather than personal attacks, inflammatory rhetoric or actions capable of creating tension within communities.
At Sakwa District in Zaki Local Government Area, Senator Shehu Buba presented Hon. Abubakar Baba Kafin Larabawa as the PRP candidate for the constituency, describing him as an experienced and mature politician with relevant leadership experience and a commitment to public service.
He also called on voters and party supporters to support Alhaji Sabo Babaji Katagum, the PRP candidate for Zaki Federal Constituency, and Comrade Isah Mohammed, the party’s candidate for Katagum State Constituency.
Senator Shehu Buba further visited the District Head of Disina, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mustapha, and the District Head of Sakwa, Alhaji Hamisu Dariya, where he sought their support for peaceful and orderly conduct before, during and after the elections.
During the visits, the PRP leader appealed to traditional institutions and community leaders to continue educating their subjects, particularly young people, on the importance of peaceful participation in the democratic process. He urged youths to reject thuggery, violence, intimidation and other social vices that could undermine the peace and stability of their communities.
Senator Shehu Buba stressed that the PRP remains committed to democratic participation, peaceful political engagement and the protection of the rights of citizens to freely choose their representatives. He called on all political actors to respect the electoral process and allow voters to exercise their franchise without fear or intimidation.
The campaign events attracted the participation of the PRP State Chairman and members of the State Executive Committee, the party’s Deputy Governorship Candidate, Rt. Hon. Tijjani Mohammed Aliyu, as well as PRP candidates and supporters from Giade, Jama’are, Katagum and Itas/Gadau constituencies.
Women and youth groups from across Bauchi State also participated in the campaign activities, demonstrating the party’s broad grassroots mobilisation and organisational structure ahead of the elections.
Senator Shehu Buba thanked party members, traditional leaders, community stakeholders, women, youths and supporters for their participation and urged them to remain peaceful, law-abiding and committed to the democratic process throughout the election period.
