TIC BAUCHI ENGAGES SHORTLISTED INNOVATORS FOR NEXTGEN INNOVATION CHALLENGE 2026

On 17th July 2026, Technology Incubation Centre Bauchi held a strategic engagement session with seven shortlisted innovators selected for the NextGen Innovation Challenge 2026.

The session, led by the Centre Manager, Abdullahi Abdulkadir Yelwa, was aimed at preparing the innovators for the next stages of the competition through guidance, mentorship, and strategic support. The innovators were also briefed on documentation and sponsorship processes ahead of the Grand Finale scheduled to take place in London, United Kingdom.

Each participant presented their innovation, showcasing creative solutions across agriculture, biotechnology, transportation, energy, and sustainability. The management team provided valuable feedback to strengthen their business cases and align with global best practices.

TIC Bauchi remains committed to nurturing innovation, supporting young talents, and positioning Bauchi State as a hub for technological advancement and entrepreneurship.

REPORT ON FACILITIES INSPECTION VISIT BY THE INDUSTRIAL TRAINING FUND (ITF) FOR THE ENLISTMENT OF TIC BAUCHI AS A TRAINING CENTRE UNDER THE SUPA PROGRAMME

On 25th June, 2026, a delegation from the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) conducted a facilities inspection visit to the Technology Incubation Centre, Bauchi. The purpose of the visit was to assess the Centre’s infrastructure, training facilities, equipment, and overall operational capacity for possible enlistment as an approved training centre under the Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) Programme.

The SUPA Programme is a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing quality service delivery through the certification and licensing of artisans, while also promoting skills development and employability across the country.

The ITF inspection team was received by the Centre Manager, Abdullahi Abdulkadir Yelwa, alongside members of the Centre’s management team. The visit commenced with an introductory meeting, during which a comprehensive presentation was delivered on the mandate of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), as well as the activities and achievements of TIC Bauchi.

Following the meeting, the ITF team was taken on a guided tour of the Centre’s facilities, where they inspected the available infrastructure, workshops, equipment, and training units. The inspection provided an opportunity for the Centre to demonstrate its readiness and capacity to deliver structured technical and vocational training programmes.

At the end of the exercise, the ITF team expressed satisfaction with the facilities and operational standards of TIC Bauchi. They commended the Centre for its commitment to entrepreneurship development and capacity building. The team further indicated that their findings would be submitted to the appropriate authorities for consideration towards the enlistment of TIC Bauchi as an approved training centre under the SUPA Programme.

The visit was successful and provided a valuable platform for strengthening collaboration between TIC Bauchi and the Industrial Training Fund, while also showcasing the Centre’s capability to contribute meaningfully to national skills development initiatives.

TIC BAUCHI STRENGTHENS STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS THROUGH FOLLOW-UP ENGAGEMENT WITH BAUCHI STATE GOVERNMENT ON THE PROVISION OF AN APPROVED 500KVA TRANSFORMER AND UTILITY VEHICLE, AND APPRECIATION VISIT TO THE STANDARDS ORGANISATION OF NIGERIA (SON)

As part of its sustained efforts to strengthen the technology incubation Program in Bauchi State, the Technology Incubation Centre, Bauchi paid a follow-up visit to the Bauchi State Ministry of Power, Science and Technology on 15th June 2026. The visit was aimed at reinforcing earlier engagements regarding the provision of an approved 500KVA transformer and a utility vehicle by the Bauchi State Government.

The delegation was led by the Centre Manager, Abdullahi Abdulkadir Yelwa, alongside members of the Centre’s management team. During the meeting, the Centre Manager emphasized the critical importance of the approved transformer and utility vehicle in enhancing the Centre’s operational efficiency and supporting the growth of technology incubation activities in the state.

Responding on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, the Permanent Secretary commended TIC Bauchi for its unwavering commitment to innovation development, entrepreneurship promotion, and talent nurturing in Bauchi State. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Bauchi State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi), to supporting the Centre through the provision of the approved transformer and utility vehicle.

The Permanent Secretary further assured the delegation that his Ministry would engage the Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to expedite the release of the approved facilities. According to him, the intervention will further strengthen the Centre’s capacity to support entrepreneurs and enable Bauchi State to fully leverage the numerous opportunities provided by the Technology Incubation Programme.

In a related development, TIC Bauchi paid an appreciation visit to the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) to express gratitude for the Organisation’s support and technical guidance, which contributed to the successful award of the African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO) Quality Mark to one of the Centre’s incubatees, Sama Agro Enterprise.

During the visit, the Centre Manager commended SON for its continued efforts in promoting quality assurance, standardisation, and competitiveness among Nigerian products and services. He noted that the ARSO Quality Mark has significantly enhanced the entrepreneur’s market credibility and visibility, while also demonstrating the innovative potential and quality standards attainable by enterprises supported under the Technology Incubation Programme.

In response, the management of SON appreciated the visit and reiterated the Organisation’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses in achieving compliance with national, regional, and international quality standards. SON further encouraged sustained collaboration with TIC Bauchi to ensure that more entrepreneurs benefit from certification programmes, quality improvement initiatives, and market access opportunities.

The engagements underscore TIC Bauchi’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in government and industry to strengthen innovation, entrepreneurship, and enterprise development within Bauchi State and beyond.

TIC BAUCHI ENGAGES BAUCHI STATE GOVERNMENT ON 2026 NEXTGEN INNOVATION CHALLENGE SPONSORSHIP

In continuation of efforts to secure sponsorship for the 2026 NextGen Innovation Challenge, the Technology Incubation Centre Bauchi conducted a follow-up advocacy visit to the Bauchi State Ministry of Power, Science and Technology on 4th May, 2026.

The delegation, led by the Centre Manager, Mallam Abdullahi Abdulkadir Yelwa, engaged the Ministry on the importance of supporting innovators from Bauchi State. He highlighted the opportunities the Challenge offers, including global exposure, access to investment, and accelerated commercialization of innovative ideas.

In his response, the Permanent Secretary, Bauchi State Ministry of Power, Science and Technology, representing the Honourable Commissioner of the Ministry, expressed strong support for the initiative. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi) to sponsor qualified and shortlisted participants from the state.

He further assured that upon identification of successful innovators, the Bauchi State Ministry of Power, Science and Technology will seek the Governor’s approval to facilitate their sponsorship, ensuring they benefit from funding, mentorship, and international exposure associated with the programme.

The visit further strengthened the collaboration between NBTI and the Bauchi State Government in promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and youth development.

VISIT OF THE CANADIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER TO TIC BAUCHI

The Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Kevin Tokar, paid an official visit to the Technology Incubation Centre, Bauchi on 11th February, 2026. The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration and identifying possible areas of intervention and technical support for entrepreneurs operating under the Centre.

Upon arrival, the High Commissioner was warmly received by the Centre Manager, Abdullahi Abdulkadir Yelwa, alongside staff members and entrepreneurs of TIC Bauchi. A brief welcome session was held to introduce the activities and mandate of the Technology Incubation Programme (TIP).

The visit specifically focused on:

1. Identifying areas where the Canadian High Commission can provide intervention and support
2. Exploring opportunities for technical training and capacity building for selected entrepreneurs at TIC Bauchi

Particular attention was given to two enterprises:

1. SAMA Gold Rice Ltd
2. Chime Foods Ltd

These entrepreneurs were presented as potential beneficiaries of support aimed at improving production processes and product standards.

The High Commissioner was thereafter taken on a guided tour of the incubation units where he interacted directly with entrepreneurs, observed production activities, and listened to explanations on operational challenges, especially in the areas of equipment, processing, product packaging, and power supply.

Mr. Kevin Tokar commended the efforts of TIC Bauchi in supporting local entrepreneurs and promoting innovation. He expressed interest in technical training opportunities and possible support for the selected enterprises.

The visit was successful and productive, opening prospects for future collaboration and development support for entrepreneurs within the Centre.

SEND-OFF CEREMONY IN HONOUR OF FORMER ZONAL DIRECTOR, NORTH-EAST ZONE “F”

The Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Bauchi on Tuesday, 3rd February, 2026, hosted a send-off ceremony in honour of the immediate former Zonal Director, North-East Zone “F”, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed, following her retirement from service.

The event, held at the TIC Bauchi Conference Hall, was attended by the Ag. Zonal Director, North-East Zone “F”; six Centre Managers from Bauchi, Gombe, Maiduguri, Yola, Jalingo, and Damaturu; the Director of Technology, Bauchi State Ministry of Power, Science and Technology, Alhaji Usman Dahiru (representing the Honourable Commissioner); former Director of Human Resources, Bauchi State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Lamara Shalumma; staff of the North-East Zone “F” and TIC Bauchi; as well as family members and friends of the celebrant.

Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed was honoured with two awards by the Forum of North-East Centre Managers and the National Association of Technology Incubation Entrepreneurs (NATIE), alongside three gifts presented by the Forum of North-East Centre Managers, NATIE, and the Staff of North-East Zone “F” and TIC Bauchi, in recognition of her exemplary leadership and dedicated service.

The ceremony celebrated her remarkable contributions to the growth of the Technology Incubation Programme in the North-East Zone and her enduring legacy of professionalism and mentorship.

TIC Bauchi wishes her a peaceful, fulfilling, and rewarding retirement.
