Bauchi Honours AUPCTRE General Secretary, Comrade Aliyu Muhammad

The Bauchi State Government has organised a reception in honour of its illustrious son, Comrade Aliyu Muhammad, following his elevation to the position of General Secretary of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE).
The event, organised through the Office of the Special Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed on Labour Matters, was aimed at recognising Comrade Aliyu Muhammad's dedication to the labour movement and strengthening the cordial relationship between the state government and organised labour.
Speaking at the occasion, the Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Comrade Usman Danturaki, said the reception was organised to celebrate a distinguished labour leader whose commitment and hard work earned him the prestigious national position.
He noted that Bauchi State has not experienced any industrial action since 2019, attributing the achievement to the government's commitment to improving the welfare of civil servants and maintaining a harmonious relationship with organised labour.
Comrade Danturaki described the elevation of Comrade Aliyu Muhammad as a testament to his dedication, competence, and unwavering commitment to duty.
He congratulated the new General Secretary and urged him to continue serving as a worthy ambassador of Bauchi State.
The Special Adviser also commended labour veterans in the state for their guidance and support, which he said had continued to strengthen the labour movement.
In his remarks, the Head of Civil Service of Bauchi State, Barrister Mohammed Sani Umar, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Barrister Dawood Mahmoud, expressed confidence that Comrade Aliyu Muhammad would excel in his new responsibilities.
Also speaking, the National President of AUPCTRE, Comrade Benjamin Anthony Mni, commended organised labour in Bauchi State for its unity, discipline, and commitment to the growth of the union.
He urged the new General Secretary to redouble his efforts in view of the enormous responsibilities attached to the office, describing him as a gentleman who has consistently discharged his duties with sincerity and dedication.
Comrade Benjamin further appreciated the Bauchi State Government for honouring a member of the AUPCTRE family.
On his part, the Bauchi State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Dauda Shuaibu, commended the state government for its responsiveness to the needs of workers and its support for labour-related issues.
Also the State Chairman Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Umar Tafida, said the celebration would serve as motivation for labour leaders to continue working in the interest of their members and society at large.
Responding, the celebrant, Comrade Aliyu Muhammad, expressed gratitude to the Bauchi State Government, organised labour, and other well-wishers for the honour accorded him.
He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him and solicited continued prayers and support to enable him succeed in his new assignment.
Speaking on behalf of labour veterans in the state, former NLC Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Shehu, described AUPCTRE as a vital affiliate of the NLC and urged the new General Secretary to sustain and build upon the union's rich legacy of technical excellence and effective leadership.
Highlights of the event was the presentation of award and gift from the Bauchi State Government.
