THREAD: BIU DESERVES DIGNITY, NOT EXPLOITATION
1️⃣ What is happening in Biu today should concern every responsible citizen.
We are a people known for dignity, culture, and respect—but are we still protecting those values?

2️⃣ Women are not political decorations.
They are mothers, daughters, and pillars of our society.
Their involvement in politics should be about empowerment—not exploitation.
3️⃣ When women are gathered without structure, without purpose, and without real benefit…
We must ask: is this participation—or manipulation?
4️⃣ True leadership is not about noise, crowds, or street displays.
It is about impact, vision, and respect for human dignity.
5️⃣ We must stop normalizing a system where hardship is used as a political tool.
Poverty should never be an opportunity for exploitation.
6️⃣ Real empowerment means:
✔️ Skills acquisition
✔️ Economic opportunities
✔️ Education and support
✔️ Respect for dignity
Anything less is not empowerment.
7️⃣ There must be consistency in leadership.
The dignity we protect in our homes should be the same dignity we uphold in our communities.
8️⃣ This is not about attacking anyone.
It is about correcting a direction that is slowly eroding our values as a people.
9️⃣ Biu has always stood for honor, faith, and respect.
We must not allow short-term political interests to destroy long-standing cultural values.
🔟 The message is simple:
Dignity over display.
Empowerment over exploitation.
Responsibility over rhetoric.
11️⃣ The women of Biu deserve better.
And the time to say it is NOW.

Why Students Respect Some Teachers (And Ignore Others)

Respect in the classroom is not about shouting,
not about thr-eats,
and not about fear.

It is built daily through your actions, words, and attitude.
Here’s what truly makes students respect you as a teacher 👇🏽

1️⃣ You are consistent
Students respect teachers whose rules don’t change based on mood, favoritism, or personal feelings.
If talking in class is wrong today, it must still be wrong tomorrow—no exceptions.

2️⃣ You know what you’re teaching
Nothing destroys respect faster than confusion.
When students see you explain clearly, answer questions confidently, and correct mistakes accurately, they naturally trust and respect you.

3️⃣ You correct without embarrassing students
Shaming a student in front of others may silence them, but it kills respect.
Correcting privately or calmly shows maturity and earns long-term loyalty.

4️⃣ You keep your promises
When you say, “I will check this tomorrow” or “There will be a test,” do it.
Students lose respect for teachers who talk but don’t act.

5️⃣ You are firm but fair
Being firm means setting standards.
Being fair means applying those standards equally—no favorites, no witch-hunting.

6️⃣ You listen to students
Respect grows when students feel heard.
Even when they are wrong, allowing them to explain themselves builds mutual respect.

7️⃣ You practice what you preach
A teacher who demands punctuality must be punctual.
A teacher who demands neatness must appear neat.
Students respect examples, not speeches.

8️⃣ You care beyond academics
When you ask about their wellbeing, struggles, or progress, students feel valued.
A cared-for student is a respectful student.

9️⃣ You set clear boundaries
Being friendly doesn’t mean allowing disrespect.
Students respect teachers who smile but still maintain authority.

🔟 You are confident, not noisy
Shouting shows loss of control.
Calm authority shows strength.
Students respect the teacher who can control a class without rais

Stoppage of Illegal GSM Mast Installation at Mbulamel Primary School Field, Biu LGA

1. Background

A telecommunications company commenced the construction of a GSM mast at Mbulamel Primary School field without notifying or seeking approval from the Biu Local Government Council. Early stages of foundation work were already in progress when the issue was discovered.

2. Chairman’s Intervention

The Executive Chairman, Hon. Alhaji Sule Ali Abubakar (Man Sule), immediately suspended the installation due to the following reasons:

a. Public School Grounds Are Not Approved Sites

School premises are reserved exclusively for education, sports, and child-centered activities. Installing a mast within such an environment violates acceptable land-use standards.

b. Safety and Environmental Risks

The presence of a mast in a school setting poses:

Risk of tower collapse and structural failure

Electromagnetic exposure concerns

Noise disturbance from generators

Fire hazards from fuel storage

Reduced play and assembly space for children

c. Company Failed to Follow Due Process

The GSM company did not obtain:

Local Government planning approval

Environmental and safety assessment reports

Community consultation and consent
This makes the installation unlawful

3. Technical Context: Biu’s Hilly Terrain

Biu’s terrain requires special technical planning. Proper mast installation depends on:

Radio-frequency (RF) surveys to identify suitable elevated points

Soil testing for structural stability

Compliance with national setback standards

Avoidance of public and residential spaces

School grounds do not meet these criteria

4. Justification for the Stoppage

The stoppage aims to:

Protect school children and staff

Preserve public property

Prevent environmental and structural hazards

Ensure compliance with regulatory standar
