BOSSO DAY 2022
The first day of January 2022 was marked as a day of cultural extravaganza, dispay of beauty, artistry, traditions and dances of the Qua stock of the Gbagyi people of Bosso and its adjunct communities in Bosso council area.
The event was held this Saturday at the palace of the District Head of Bosso. It brought together sons and daughters of Bosso including politicians, National and State Assembly members, traditional rulers, title holders, public and private citizens amongst others.
The Chief Servant and former Governor of Niger State, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu who was the Chairman at the occasion, stressed the need for a continual communal relationship and respect for one another.
He traced the historic origin of the people of Bosso to Borno and noted that the first person to rule the community was Lawu whose love for people of all extractions was legendary as he did not discriminate against anyone on the basis of tribe, religion, class or status.
He said those who alleged that he, (Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu) does not like the Gbagyi people, were those who have never done any good thing for Gbagyi people.
He challenged his traducers to show what they had ever done for the Gbagyi people better than what he had done for the Gbagyi people. "I cant hate Gbagyi people and still be married to a Gbagyi woman for ovet forty years" he said.
The Chairman of the occasion therefore charged Gbagyi speaking stock to be opened and embrace others for the development of their land and people and shun those he described as selfcentred, myopic and selfseeking.
He deconstructed the hegemony in indigenes - settler dichotomy and stressed that all human beings were on pilgrimage to mother earth.
The 2022 Bosso Cultural day was spiced with cultural displays by different troupes, drummers and dancers.
