A COURTESY VISIT TO ARC. BASSEY NDEM BY THE YOUNG WOMEN IN POLITICS FORUM, CROSS RIVER STATE CHAPTER.

The young Women in Politics forum, Cross River state chapter on Tuesday, 18th of January 2021 paid an advocacy visit to Arc Bassey Ndem.

The visit was to share the aim and objectives of the forum and talk about its upcoming activities. It was attended by exco members and members.

The interaction started with Hannah Bassey Chapter coordinator Young Women in Politics Forum Cross River, sharing the objectives of the Young women in the politics forum. Which amongst others are to increase women's political participation in politics, encourage them to get their cards and also make sure that women are mentored adequately for the political position they wish to hold.

While Thanking the team for coming for the courtesy Visit, Arc Bassey Ndem raised salient issues about women's participation in politics. While he was happy that women are raising stronger voices and being heard, it was disheartening for him that many times, women are not truly introduced to the system of holding positions democratically and how the Male Chauvinist structure has men imposing their will on women.

He noted importantly, that if we must make progress as a people, we need to give women 50% and not 30% to women as they ask for affirmative action. And for him just like Martial Artists women must begin to find the Juridiscto of Nigerian Politics. Women must begin to strategically use social media to address issues that affect women.

He lastly advises that women need to push things that will continually impact society through the values they teach their children. The meeting ended with him pledging his support to the chapter.
