Appointment

His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni CON COMN has approved the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Goje, as acting Secretary to the state government with immediate effect.

Dr. Goje, until his appointment is the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

Gov. Buni urged the new appointee to rededicate his efforts in the service of the state and the betterment of the people.

Yesterday marked a major milestone as the UNICEF Field Office, led by its Chief and dedicated team, paid a strategic and impactful visit to the SDGs Coordination Office, Yobe State. The visit focused on deepening partnership and strengthening collaboration in key development areas, while also laying the foundation for the commencement of new, high-impact projects aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the global 2030 Agenda.

This important engagement reflects the strong commitment of the Yobe State Government under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Mai Mala Buni, to foster strategic partnerships that will accelerate sustainable development across the state. It also demonstrates a shared determination between partners to address critical challenges, enhance service delivery, and improve the overall well-being of citizens, especially vulnerable communities.

The discussions centered on key priority areas including education, healthcare, nutrition, child protection, youth empowerment, and climate resilience sectors that are essential for achieving inclusive growth and long-term sustainability. The SDGs Coordination Office, Yobe State, today held a strategic engagement meeting with the Network of Yobe Civil Society Organizations as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration, promote inclusive development, and accelerate the achievement of the 2030 Agenda in Yobe State.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss shared priorities, community challenges, and practical ways to work together in delivering sustainable solutions that will improve the lives of our people. The partnership between government and civil society remains critical in ensuring that no one is left behind.

We appreciate the commitment, ideas, and dedication of the Network of Yobe Civil Society Organizations toward advancing development across the State. Through stronger collaboration, advocacy, and joint action, we can achieve greater impact in areas such as education, health, youth empowerment, women’s inclusion, peacebuilding, and environmental sustainability.

Today, the Yobe State SDGs Office paid a courtesy visit to Save the Children International Field Office, Yobe State, to re-strengthen our partnership and deepen collaboration towards the successful implementation of the 2030 United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss shared priorities, strengthen existing relationships, and explore new areas of cooperation in education, health, youth empowerment, protection, humanitarian support, and community development across Yobe State.

We firmly believe that achieving the Sustainable Development Goals cannot be done by government alone. It requires strong partnerships between public institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, and the private sector. Together, we can build a more inclusive, peaceful, and prosperous Yobe for all.

The Yobe State SDGs Office expresses its sincere appreciation to His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, for his continued support, visionary leadership, and commitment to advancing development initiatives that are transforming lives and bringing Yobe closer to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda.

Today, the SDGs Coordination Office, Yobe State paid a courtesy and follow-up visit to the UNFPA office to further strengthen the spirit of partnership and collaboration between both institutions.

This important engagement comes barely one week after the UNFPA delegation visited the SDGs Office, demonstrating the growing commitment of both institutions to work together in delivering impactful programmes that improve the lives of the people of Yobe State.

The meeting focused on key areas of mutual interest, including healthcare, education, gender equality, youth empowerment, reproductive health, population data, and community-based interventions that can accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals across the State.

The SDGs Office reaffirmed its commitment, under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Hon. Dr. Mai Mala Buni, CON, Executive Governor of Yobe State, to continue building strategic partnerships that support the administration’s development agenda and create lasting opportunities for women, young people, and vulnerable communities across Yobe State.
