EKET CHAIRMAN CELEBRATES 2023 ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY IN EKET
Yesterday, the Executive Chairman of Eket Local Government Council, Rt Hon Akan Tommey who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon Comfort Emmanuel celebrate and Honour the efforts and sacrifices of our fallens Heroes and Veterans who fought to defend the nation during the Ist and 2nd world wars,Nigerian Civil wars, contributors to the peace, support operation round the world held on Sunday, 15th January, 2023 at the Cenotaph, Stadium road to Mark the Armed Forces Rememberance Day.
The Chairman, stated in his address that the occasion reminds us of the need to guard jealousy and the unity of the nation which was won at great cost.
He reassured the Nigerian Armed Forces, that as a government, at the local level, we will continue to render support to Legionaries within the limit of the available resources.
The Chairman in his heart full of compassionate who at various levels working to ensure the timely provision of adequate resources and necessary logistics to support the Nigerian Legion, reassured the fallen heroes and veterans of their continuous supports, even has financial assistance has been approved for obsequies of deceased veterans, Educational supports, Skill Acquisition trainings and many other forms of empowerment programmes to the family members of the heroes veterans.
Highlights of the ceremony were the salute from Parade commander/laying of wreath in memory of the fallen heroes.
Present at the event were: Head of Service,the Leader Eket Legislative Council, Secretary of Council, Paramount Ruler, Clan Heads, Councillors, Supervisors, Directors, Nulge Staff, Security Operatives, the chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Eket Chapter,DPO,Representative of the widows of the fallen heroes, the moderator & the supervisor in charge of Special Duties and Information, Eket Local Government Council, PDP chapter women leader and others.
