ENUGU KEKE CHAIRMAN EXPOSES PETER MBAH: "₦750 LEVY NOT SCRAPPED – KEKE RIDERS STILL PAY ₦350 DAILY"
PRESS STATEMENT

19th October, 2026
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Enugu State, under the leadership of our presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, and governorship candidate, Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa, draws the attention of Ndi Enugu to a major revelation made this morning on the announced removal of the ₦750 daily Keke levy by the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah.
*The Chairman of the Amalgamated Tricycle Riders Association, Comrade Kingsley Edeh, stated during a radio programme on 100.3 Udoka FM that Governor Peter Mbah did not scrap the entire ₦750 daily levy on Keke riders in Enugu, as publicly announced at their rally.*
According to the Chairman, this revelation directly contradicts the government's widely publicised claim that the ₦750 daily ticket fee has been abolished; instead, Keke operators are still required to pay ₦350 every day.
Significantly, the truth has come from the Keke riders' own leader, and not from opposition political parties, which the government has always accused of propaganda and of a catalogue of criticism.
This is a show of shame and a high-level inconsistency in the making of policy statements by the Enugu State Government. What was presented as a major relief for transporters at a political rally has now been exposed as a mask on the acne-ridden face of the government, in a bid to portray a humane disposition on the part of the Mbah administration, which is full of rhetoric and unfounded political gestures meant to woo an electorate already disenchanted and unwilling to vote for him in the 2027 elections.
A government cannot be seen as sincere if, after announcing the removal of a burden, the association's chairman confirms that riders must still pay daily.
Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa has consistently maintained that the welfare of Keke riders and other small business operators must be treated with honesty and seriousness. Under an Ohaa administration, there will be no half-measures, no deceptive announcements, and no use of transporters as political props. Their welfare will be prioritised through clear, transparent and lasting policies.
As the Enugu electorate watches, they can now tell the difference between real relief and political packaging, which creates the illusion of tax and transport relief for the people.
The truth has been spoken on radio this morning by the Keke Chairman himself. No amount of propaganda can erase it.
