Gombe Geographic Information Systems GOGIS is mandated to champion Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s Comprehensive Land Reform in Gombe State.

Gombe Geographic Information System (GOGIS) was established by GOGIS Act 2020 with the mandate of ensuring effective land administration and management in Gombe State. The establishment of the Agency followed after scrutiny of the fraudulent practices in land dealings and er****on of building structures in slums, with a view to reforming the system to restore citizens’ faith and design the state a

ccording to the Town Planning Standards and protect the landed property from land forgery and document forgery across the State. MANDATE OF THE AGENCY

The transition to digital land administration by the Gombe State Government under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Dan Majen Gombe) had simplified the processes, made the system efficient and seamless for citizens to access all land services including registering a land, thereby obtaining a digitized secured certificate of occupancy (DCofO) within a short period of time.

: The Ad-hoc Technical Committee on Street Naming and House Numbering (SNHN) in Gombe State, led by Dr. Isa Ibrahim Jalo (Wazirin Gombe) earlier today convened a strategic meeting focused on the review and harmonization of proposed street names for onward presentation and approval by His Excellency, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.

The meeting carefully examined submissions and recommendations from the Technical Naming and Technical GIS Sub-Committees to ensure that all proposed nomenclatures align with established urban planning standards, cultural heritage, historical relevance, and GIS-based addressing principles.

Deliberations also emphasized the need for inclusiveness, uniqueness, and preservation of indigenous identity in the naming process, while ensuring that proposed names reflect notable personalities, national values, historical contributions, and community heritage.

The Committee assured its commitment to developing a modern, organized, and globally aligned addressing system that will enhance navigation, urban governance, security coordination, emergency response, and efficient service delivery across Gombe State.

: GIS Field Officers Continue Carrying Out Preliminary Data Collection for Street Naming and House Numbering

Earlier today, GIS Field Officers under the Committee on Street Naming and House Numbering in Gombe State carried out a preliminary field exercise across selected locations within the State as part of preparatory activities towards the implementation of the proposed street naming and house numbering exercise.

During the exercise, the officers navigated through streets and communities to obtain vital records, spatial data, and other relevant information necessary to support accurate street identification and house numbering across the State.

This project is in line with the commitment of the Executive Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency, (Dr) Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON (Danmajen Gombe), towards strengthening urban planning, enhancing property identification, improving service delivery, and establishing a reliable addressing system that will support security, emergency response, revenue generation, and sustainable development.
Residents are encouraged to continue cooperating with field personnel and relevant stakeholders as the State advances efforts towards the successful implementation of the initiative.

: Surveyor-General Visits GOGIS DG in Appreciation of Support

The substantive Surveyor-General of Gombe State, Surveyor Zakari Isa Kwami, alongside senior technical officers from the Office of the Surveyor-General, paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of GOGIS, Dr Kabiru Usman Hassan, to express their appreciation for his unwavering support, cooperation, and professional encouragement towards the eventual confirmation of the Surveyor-General.

During the visit, Surveyor Kwami commended the Director-General for his consistent commitment to institutional collaboration, technical excellence, and the strengthening of land administration reforms in Gombe State. He noted that the support and synergy between GOGIS and the Office of the Surveyor-General have continued to play a vital role in advancing cadastral integrity, geospatial development, and efficient service delivery.

In his remarks, Dr. Kabiru Usman Hassan congratulated the Surveyor-General once again on his well-deserved appointment and reaffirmed GOGIS’ commitment to sustaining strong inter-agency collaboration for the overall development of the state.

The visit further highlighted the cordial working relationship and shared vision between both institutions towards building a modern, transparent, and technologically driven land administration system in Gombe State.
