PRESS RELEASE

OYSADA Deepens Digital Agriculture Drive, Engages NABG, CoAmana on Market Hub Initiative

Ibadan, Oyo State — August 22, 2026:

The Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), under the leadership of its Director-General and the Phenomenal Executive Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Agribusiness and International Cooperation Development, Dr. Debo Akande, has facilitated a strategic stakeholder engagement with representatives of the Nigeria Agribusiness Group (NABG) and CoAmana on the proposed Market View Platform and Market Hub Digitalization Initiative.

The engagement, held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, is part of the ongoing efforts of OYSADA to strengthen market access, promote digital innovation and create a more connected Agribusiness ecosystem in Oyo State.

The proposed initiative is designed to leverage digital technology to connect farmers, traders, processors, aggregators, investors and other stakeholders with available market opportunities across the state and beyond.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Debo Akande DBA CMGR FCMI, stated that improving agricultural productivity must go hand-in-hand with ensuring that farmers and agribusiness operators have reliable access to markets.

According to him, “Agriculture becomes more sustainable and profitable when producers are not only supported to produce, but are also connected to the right markets, buyers and opportunities.”

He noted that the Market View Platform and Market Hub Digitalisation initiative would contribute to reducing information gaps within the agricultural value chain while enabling stakeholders to make better-informed decisions regarding production, pricing, distribution and market opportunities.

Dr. Akande further emphasised that the initiative aligns with the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde's broader vision of transforming Oyo State into a leading agribusiness destination through innovation, investment, value addition and inclusive economic development.

He explained that the digital platform, when fully developed and deployed, has the potential to make market information more accessible to farmers and other agricultural stakeholders, irrespective of their location within the state.

The engagement also provided an opportunity for the stakeholders to deliberate on the technical framework, implementation strategy and possible areas of collaboration required to ensure that the platform responds effectively to the realities of Oyo State's agricultural ecosystem.

OYSADA reaffirmed its commitment to building strategic partnerships with relevant private-sector organisations, development partners and agribusiness stakeholders to create practical solutions that can translate agricultural potential into sustainable economic opportunities.

The Agency expressed optimism that the Market View Platform and Market Hub Digitalisation initiative will further strengthen the connection between production and market, empowering farmers and agribusinesses while contributing to job creation, investment attraction and economic growth across Oyo State.

The engagement represents another step in OYSADA's commitment to making Agribusiness not merely an Agricultural activity, but a comprehensive economic engine capable of creating wealth and sustainable livelihoods for the people of Oyo State.

ISESE DAY: IJОBA AUTHORITY MOE CHARGES POLITICAL PARTIES, CANDIDATES TO RUN PEOPLE’S AMBITION, NOT PERSONAL AMBITION

Ibadan, Oyo State — August 20, 2026

Speaking with journalists in Ibadan during the commemoration of Isese Day in Oyo State, Dig. Com. Moyosoreoluwa Olamilekan Eldreez popularly addressed as Ijoba Authority MOE has called on political parties, political aspirants, candidates and leaders across Nigeria to place the aspirations and welfare of the people above personal political ambitions.

According to him, the essence of leadership must transcend the pursuit of political positions, stressing that anyone seeking public office must understand that leadership is a responsibility entrusted to them by the people.

“Don’t run your ambition; run the people’s ambition. Your servant leadership should be an assignment, not an appointment.”

Ijoba Authority MOE said Nigeria needs political leaders who are driven by genuine commitment to service, competence, integrity and the desire to create opportunities for citizens, rather than individuals whose primary objective is to acquire political power.

He noted that the celebration of Isese Day provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of identity, heritage, values, community and responsibility, urging Nigerians to draw lessons from the values of respect, communal responsibility and preservation of cultural heritage.

He further charged political parties to be more deliberate in choosing candidates who possess the character, capacity and vision required to represent the people effectively.

“Political office should never be seen as a personal reward. It is a trust. The moment you are given the opportunity to serve, your personal ambition must become secondary to the collective ambition of the people,” he stated.

The political commentator also appealed to Nigerians to look beyond party colours and personalities when evaluating political candidates, encouraging citizens to demand accountability, competence and measurable results from those seeking their mandate.

He emphasized that Nigeria’s political future would be stronger when politicians understand that positions are temporary, but the impact of leadership can remain for generations.

Ijoba Authority MOE concluded by congratulating the people of Oyo State and Nigerians celebrating Isese Day, urging everyone to continue promoting peace, unity, mutual respect and the preservation of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

“Let us build a Nigeria where leadership is service, politics is responsibility, and every political ambition is ultimately measured by how much value it creates for the people.”

Oyo SAPZ Capacity Building: Dr. Debo Akande Charges Youths to Embrace Innovation, Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Wealth Creation
..Commends Governor Seyi Makinde's unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and economic transformation

The Executive Adviser to the Governor of Oyo State on Agribusiness and International Development Cooperation and Director-General of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), Dr. Debo Akande, DBA, CMGR, FCMI (DDA), has congratulated participants of the just-concluded Oyo Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Capacity Building Programme, urging them to translate the knowledge and skills acquired into productive ventures that will create wealth, generate employment and contribute meaningfully to the economic development of Oyo State and Nigeria.

Dr. Akande stated that the future belongs to young people who are innovative, solution-driven and willing to acquire practical skills that address societal needs. He noted that the era of depending solely on white-collar jobs is rapidly giving way to one where entrepreneurship, Agribusiness, technology, value addition and enterprise development have become the true drivers of prosperity.

According to him, the two-day intensive capacity building programme, funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) under the Oyo SAPZ initiative, was deliberately designed to equip participants with practical knowledge, entrepreneurial competence and leadership capacity that will enable them to become employers of labour rather than job seekers.

He encouraged the beneficiaries not to regard the training as the end of their learning journey but as the beginning of a lifetime commitment to innovation, discipline, excellence and continuous self-development.

"I challenge every participant to maximize this opportunity by putting into practice everything learned during the training. Let your ideas become businesses, your businesses become industries, and your industries become platforms that create employment and improve the lives of others. Success belongs to those who are prepared to work hard, embrace change and remain committed to excellence."

The OYSADA Director-General further advised the youths to cultivate integrity, resilience, accountability and teamwork, stressing that sustainable success is built on character, competence and consistency.

Dr. Akande reaffirmed that the Oyo SAPZ Programme remains one of the strategic initiatives of the Governor Seyi Makinde administration aimed at transforming Agriculture from subsistence to a modern, commercially viable and industrialized sector capable of attracting investments, expanding value chains and creating thousands of sustainable jobs for the people of Oyo State.

He expressed profound appreciation to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, DSc, GSSRS, for his visionary leadership, unwavering political will and consistent investment in youth development, Agribusiness and economic diversification.

According to him, the remarkable progress being recorded through the SAPZ Programme is a direct reflection of Governor Makinde's commitment to building an inclusive economy where young people are empowered with opportunities, practical skills and the enabling environment to thrive.

Dr. Akande also acknowledged the invaluable support of the African Development Bank (AfDB), development partners, facilitators and stakeholders whose collaboration has continued to strengthen the implementation of the SAPZ Programme in Oyo State.

He assured the people of Oyo State that OYSADA would continue to champion innovative policies and programmes that attract private investment, stimulate agro-industrial growth, empower young entrepreneurs and position Oyo State as Nigeria's leading destination for Agribusiness and industrial development.

Dr. Akande concluded by encouraging the participants to become worthy ambassadors of the programme by demonstrating excellence, professionalism, creativity and commitment in their various enterprises, while contributing to the shared vision of building a prosperous, food-secure and economically vibrant Oyo State.

2027 IN FOCUS: BEFORE YOU CRITICISE A PUBLIC OFFICE HOLDER, UNDERSTAND THE WEIGHT OF POWER

As Nigeria gradually approaches the 2027 political season, there is a need for a more mature, responsible and constructive political conversation.

Do not be too quick to criticise public office holders. The weight of power is enormous.

This is not a call for citizens to surrender their right to question leadership. Far from it. Accountability is fundamental to democracy, and every public office holder must be prepared to answer questions about policies, decisions, performance and the use of public resources.

However, criticism should come with understanding, facts and fairness.

Leadership is not as easy as it appears from the outside. Behind every major decision are competing interests, limited resources, urgent demands, political realities and, sometimes, choices where there is no perfect option.

The person sitting in the office may be carrying responsibilities that millions of people never see.

That is why, as we prepare for 2027, Nigerians should move beyond emotional politics and social-media outrage. Let us examine capacity, character, competence, experience, courage, integrity and verifiable records of service.

Do not judge a leader solely by what is trending.
Do not praise a leader solely because your political camp supports him.
Do not condemn a leader simply because your expectations were not immediately met.

Ask the right questions. Examine the evidence. Listen to different perspectives. Then make your judgement.

Leadership deserves scrutiny, but leadership also deserves perspective.

The greatest democracy is not one where leaders are never criticised; it is one where citizens can criticise responsibly, leaders can listen humbly, and both sides remain committed to the greater good.

As 2027 approaches, let us raise the standard.

Let us choose leaders not merely because they are popular, loud or heavily promoted, but because they possess the capacity to carry the weight of public trust.

Because when power comes, popularity may open the door—but character, competence and wisdom determine what happens inside the room.

2027 IN FOCUS: CRITICISE WITH FACTS, JUDGE WITH WISDOM, AND CHOOSE WITH CONSCIENCE.

*BAOBAB TREE: GSM, The Deep Root, Many Branches And One Tree* By Moyosoreoluwa Olamilekan Eldreez , Member GSM Advocates

There is a popular African proverb that says, "A mighty tree does not grow overnight." The baobab tree, one of Africa's most enduring symbols, stands tall because its roots run deep, its trunk is strong, and its branches provide shelter, hope, and life to many.

Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde (GSM), FNSE, DSC. GSSRS represents such a baobab tree in Oyo State politics.

His leadership has been defined not only by infrastructure and governance but by his deliberate investment in people. Like the baobab, whose branches spread in every direction, GSM has nurtured leaders across sectors politics, governance, business, youth development, Agriculture, transportation, education, health, and public service.

The strength of a baobab is not measured by its height alone but by the lives it sustains. Similarly, Governor Makinde's administration has produced capable public servants, empowered young professionals, strengthened institutions, and created opportunities that continue to bear fruit beyond his immediate government.

From road infrastructure and improved security to Agribusiness revolution, educational reforms, healthcare expansion, and economic development, GSM has laid deep roots that will continue to support Oyo State for generations.

His philosophy of governance has been one of inclusion, competence, transparency, and continuity. Many of those who have served under him today represent strong branches extending the vision of sustainable development across the state.

Just as no one can separate the baobab from its roots, the progress witnessed in Oyo State is deeply connected to the visionary leadership and strategic planning of Governor Seyi Makinde .

As history continues to unfold, the GSM legacy will not merely be remembered for projects commissioned but for the institutions strengthened, the people empowered, and the future leaders raised.

Indeed, GSM is the Baobab Tree deeply rooted, firmly grounded, and blessed with many branches that continue to provide shade, strength, and Hope for Oyo State and beyond.

2027 IN FOCUS: POPULARITY IS TESTED IN THE HEART OF THE PEOPLE, NOT IN THE MEDIA — IJOBA AUTHORITY MOE

As Nigeria gradually moves towards the 2027 general elections, political actors must understand that true popularity is not manufactured in the media; it is earned in the hearts of the people.

The 2027 political season will undoubtedly produce different narratives, endorsements, opinion polls, social-media campaigns and carefully crafted publicity. But beyond all the noise lies the most important question: Who do the people genuinely trust, believe in and willingly stand with?

A politician may dominate headlines without commanding grassroots acceptance. A candidate may trend online without having a meaningful connection with the people. Conversely, a leader may not be the loudest voice in the media yet enjoy extraordinary goodwill among ordinary citizens.

That is the difference between media visibility and genuine popularity.

The real political laboratory is the street. It is the market woman who remembers who stood by her. It is the young person whose life was positively affected by an empowerment programme. It is the community that remembers accessible leadership. It is the family that can testify to someone's character, compassion and commitment.

As the 2027 contest takes shape, political relevance will increasingly be tested by a combination of character, competence, performance, relationships, grassroots structures and the confidence of the electorate. Recent analysis of Nigeria's 2027 political landscape has also highlighted that popular appeal alone must ultimately be matched by organisation, political structure and broad-based support.

Therefore, nobody should mistake social-media noise for political strength.

The people are not hashtags.
The electorate is not a comment section.
Popularity is not the number of followers on a page.
And elections are not won by media impressions alone.

The people will eventually speak—and when they do, their verdict will be louder than every manufactured narrative.

2027 should therefore be about service over propaganda, substance over noise, character over packaging, and people over publicity.

For every aspirant and political leader, the message is simple:

Go to the people. Listen to them. Serve them. Earn their trust. Build genuine relationships. Let your record speak before your media team does.

Because when the campaigns are over and the microphones are switched off, it is the people who will enter the polling booths.

The media may introduce you to the people, but only the people can establish your popularity.

2027 IN FOCUS: THE PEOPLE WILL TEST THE POPULARITY, AND THE PEOPLE WILL WRITE THE VERDICT.
