Oyo APC Progressives Movement Rallies Members for 2027 Victory, Urges PVC Registration, Party Unity

Leaders and members of the Oyo State APC Progressives Movement have reaffirmed their commitment to the growth and success of the All Progressives Congress (APC), calling on members across the state to remain united, mobilize eligible voters, and work tirelessly towards securing victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.

The resolution was reached during the Movement’s Monthly Meeting for May 2026, attended by party elders, stakeholders, women leaders, local government coordinators, and members drawn from the 33 local government areas and six geopolitical zones of Oyo State.

The meeting, presided over by the Chairman of the Movement, Elder Olufemi Abiola, alongside the Vice Chairman, Elder Chief Dijo Ogundiran, and the Secretary, Hon. Caleb Akanni Oyaniyi, commenced with a minute’s silence in honour of departed party faithful, particularly former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly representing Ibadan North-West Constituency, Hon. Akeem Oladipupo (Able).

Among notable attendees were former commissioners during the administration of the late Governor Lam Adesina, including Hon. Rufau Rafiu (Afijio), Chief Francis Babalola (Ibarapa), and Chief (Mrs.) Bukola Oni (Nee Alayande), as well as members of the Elders Council of the Oyo State APC Progressives Movement.

Speaking during the meeting, the Secretary, Hon. Caleb Akanni Oyaniyi, reminded members of the need to intensify grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections. He urged party faithful to encourage eligible residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), noting that voter registration is expected to close on July 7, 2026.

He emphasized that the success of the APC at all levels of government would guarantee greater dividends of democracy for the people and charged members to actively participate in the electoral process while maintaining peace and order.

The meeting also reflected on the previous gathering where former House of Representatives and gubernatorial aspirant, Hon. Rotimi Ajanaku (Hon. OPA), pledged his continued loyalty to the APC irrespective of future political decisions within the party.

Addressing members, party stakeholders reiterated the importance of party supremacy and loyalty to the APC, urging members not to allow temporary disagreements or political misunderstandings to weaken their commitment to the party.

Speaking on behalf of party elders, Alhaji Fekehu encouraged members to remain steadfast and resolute, stressing that the primary objective of the movement remains ensuring total victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.

Similarly, women leader Alhaja Suliyat Raji called on women across the state to actively deploy their influence and numerical strength in politics to secure electoral victories for the party, assuring them that their contributions would be adequately recognized and rewarded.

In his remarks, elder statesman Pa Adeoye from Oyo reflected on the history of progressive politics in Nigeria, noting that the APC remains firmly rooted in the progressive ideology that has shaped the nation’s democratic journey. He described current political developments within the party as normal features of democratic politics and urged members not to be distracted by internal challenges.

The Convener of the Oyo State APC Progressives Movement, Barrister Lowo Obisesan, appreciated members for their loyalty, commitment, and impressive turnout at the meeting despite various engagements across the state.

Barrister Obisesan expressed gratitude to God for the continued growth of the movement and commended party leaders and stakeholders for their unwavering support. He also acknowledged the support he received during his recent family event and specially appreciated Hon. Remi Oseni for his contributions.

The APC chieftain maintained that true progressives must remain committed to the party’s ideals regardless of prevailing circumstances, warning against anti-party activities and actions capable of undermining the collective interests of the party.

According to him, the Oyo State APC Progressives Movement has remained a stabilizing force within the party, fostering unity and sustaining grassroots engagement through its regular meetings and activities across the state.

Barrister Obisesan further urged local government coordinators to remain disciplined, responsible, and committed to the party’s objectives while cautioning members against spreading rumours and unverified information capable of causing division within the movement.

He encouraged members to seek clarification from party authorities whenever issues arise rather than engaging in speculation or misinformation.

The convener also reaffirmed the group’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as a leader committed to addressing national challenges, particularly in the area of security, and called on members to support all APC candidates in future elections.
