Entrepreneurs have the ingenuity to create exceptional products and services which then stimulate the demand for other previously unconsidered goods and services in a perpetually productive virtuous cycle. For instance, Apple's introduction of the touch-screen mobile phone prompted other phone-makers to introduce mobile phones and eventually tablets and touch-screen computers.
What can you create now that can spur even further innovation in the world?

Entrepreneurship is an infectious spirit that seeks to continually do things in improved ways, inspiring and uplifting people and institutions in the process. Entrepreneurial people have the incredible ability to transform dormant government institutions into thriving entities administering programmes that deliver value to citizens. Entrepreneurs are equally desired in the social sector to enable the development of sustainable initiatives that serve unreached populations and enable the holistic growth of our world.

What can be done to create entrepreneurs at all levels? If everyone can be an entrepreneur or be entrepreneurial in their activities, should entrepreneurship be taught in all institutions? Can people indeed be trained to identify opportunities in challenges? Yes, there is a place for training, and it should start at the earliest possible opportunity, but mastery is gained through practice.

Do you know Ludwick Marishane?
When one of his school friends was too lazy to take a bath, it gave Ludwick an idea: what if there was a way to stay clean and hygienic without taking a bath or a shower? Ludwick’s solution came in the form of DryBath, the world’s first bath-substituting lotion, which would later make him South Africa’s youngest patent holder. With DryBath, people can bathe without water: they must simply apply the lotion, which kills germs, moisturizes the skin, and leaves a sweet scent.

Ludwick has sold thousands of units of Dry Bath in the US/UK – totaling $250,000 in gross sales, and currently has his eyes set on capturing the African market. Today his business has expanded to now include consulting services.

Everyone can be an entrepreneur!
An entrepreneur doesn't necessarily have to be a Richard Branson or Tony Elumelu type of person. Entrepreneurship happens at the crossroads of opportunity and a bright idea; every thing that is wrong in society is an opportunity for entrepreneurship to take place. It could be the realization that cooking fuel is very expensive, prompting someone to create a cheap, clean energy solution. It could also be the realization that universities are not adequately preparing graduates for the workforce. Any of these and a million more societal challenges can spur innovation.

Innovation and entrepreneurship are the engines that drive development in any society. Anyone who is able to study their society, identify inherent challenges in them, create unique solutions, design prototypes, evaluate societal response, estimate potential impact and eventually launch new products and services for public good and financial gain is an entrepreneur.

Have you heard about Tom Osborn?
Tom is the founder of Greenchar, a clean energy company he founded at 17. While helping his mum cook, he realized the harmful effects of cooking with charcoal on his mother’s health and the environment. This inspired him to start Greenchar which provides smokeless charcoal briquettes and distributes cook-clean stoves throughout Kenya. These briquettes are not only unique because they are smokeless but because they are sourced from alternative charcoal sources like revitalized agricultural waste; indirectly combating deforestation.

Today, Tom employees about 5 people, partners with prominent institutions like General Electric, MIT, and Echoing green, and its customers have reported that they experience efficiency and a cleaner cooking environment. Tom has also been featured on different media such as CNN, Forbes, CNBC Africa and Time.
