The Goal is Clear and the Vision is Sharp. Ibeju-Lekki is a local government area in the Epe Division of Lagos State, Nigeria. The administrative centre was formally at Akodo and was later moved to Igando Oloja due to the creation of Lekki Council Development Area. The name of the Local government was derived from two autonomous communities, Ibeju and Lekki. The people of the area are mainly Yorub

a speaking natives, there are many other people from different parts of the country and around the world residing, working and investing in the local government. The area also attracts massive amount of tourism as it is endowed with beautiful lagoon and gorgeous ocean fronts. The development in the area is rapid and ongoing, some would even refer to the area as the New Lagos. in fact the commercial Hub of Lagos state is shifting towards the area with many investment been done to develop industries and infrastructures. IBEJU LEKKI Local Government is one of the four created in Lagos State by Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida in 1990, out of the old Epe Local Government, with headquarters at Akodo. However in October 2003, the then Executive Governor of Lagos State, H. E Bola Ahmed Tinubu, carved LEKKI LCDA out of IBEJU LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT. The name, Lekki is derived from the names of two autonomous communities, namely Ibeju-Agbe and Lekki. The local government is bounded by Eti-Osa East LCDA on the west, Epe on the East and the Atlantic Ocean on the North. Ibeju- Lekki is about 75km long and 20 km at its widest point and is spread over 646km2 or a quarter of the total land mass of Lagos state. Some of the major town in Ibeju-Lekki includes Ibeju-Agbe, Magbon-Alade, Iberikodo, Igando-Oloja, Aiyeteju, Awoyaya, Bogoje, Akodo, Elerangbe, Eleko, Elemoro, Idi-Orogbo, Lakowe, Orimedu, Abijo, Mopo-Ijebu Eputu and Badore. Located along the coastal plain of Nigeria, Ibeju-Lekki has many creeks and Lagoons and its mainly populated by Ijebu speaking people of the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria.

HON.OLOWA LAUNCHES IBEJU-LEKKI CAREER ACCELERATOR PROGRAMME, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, education and human capital development with the official launch of the Ibeju-Lekki Career Accelerator Programme.

The programme is designed to equip young people with relevant skills, career knowledge and practical opportunities to enhance their employability, promote self-reliance and prepare them for the demands of the modern workplace.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Olowa described youth development as a major priority of his administration, noting that deliberate investment in the younger generation is essential to achieving sustainable development in Ibeju-Lekki.
He urged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the programme, remain committed to learning and translate the knowledge and skills acquired into meaningful opportunities for personal growth and economic advancement.
The Chairman also reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting youths through initiatives in education, scholarships, skills acquisition and empowerment, stressing that the Career Accelerator Programme is another strategic step towards opening pathways for young people to achieve their aspirations.

In her remarks, Mrs. Osimen commended the initiative and applauded the Executive Chairman for his continued focus on youth development.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to remain focused, disciplined and committed to building successful careers.

Also speaking, Mrs. Abolade described the programme as a commendable initiative that would expose participants to valuable knowledge and skills needed to navigate the evolving world of work. She urged the beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity and apply the lessons learnt towards building productive and sustainable careers.

The programme further underscored the administration’s resolve to empower young people with the tools and opportunities required to become self-reliant, productive and valuable contributors to the development of Ibeju-Lekki.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by the Council Manager, Dr. Adekoya Augustine, who expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman and all those who contributed to the successful launch of the programme.

The Ibeju-Lekki Career Accelerator Programme is another significant step in the administration’s ongoing efforts to invest in the future of its youths and create opportunities that will enable them to thrive.

OLOWA COMMISSIONED 900 METRE LAKOWE, LOSORO AND LAGASA ROAD.

We are committed to keeping our promises and listening to yearnings of our people.

These were the words of the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon.(Engr) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa at the Commissioning of the 900 Metre, Lakowe, Losoro and Lagasa Road,

Addressing participant at the gathering, the Mayor narrated, how he passed through the spoilt road and prayed to God to grant him the opportunity to be elected as the Executive Chairman, so as to repair the spoilt road, and God granted his request.

He noted that, Ibeju-Lekki is no longer a community waiting for its future but its future is already unfolding and Major investments are changing the economic landscape, businesses are expanding and the communities are growing.

He stated that Lakowe-Losoro and Lagasa Road mattters and its impact extends beyond the road itself.

Speaking further, he emphasized that the road connects residents to places of work, businesses, and to their market place and communities to the wider economic opportunities of Ibeju-Lekki.

He appreciates the residents and community leaders for their cooperation throughout the duration of the project.

He further commend the Technical teams, Contractors, Engineers and everyone who contributed to bringing the project to its completion.

In conclusion, the helmsman charged the benefiting communities to take ownership of the commissioned road and keep the drainage channels clear by avoiding activities that could jeopardise the efforts of the Government and resources spent to build the road.

Lastly, he implored all present at the event to turn up massively and exercise their civic responsibility at the forth coming election by voting for all candidates of APC Party at various respective level during the coming election.

The Apex Leader and APC Party Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Eletu, implored all participants at the event to ensure adequate support, by voting for the APC Party and all its nominated candidates at all level during the forth coming election.

Engr. Abiola Okanlawon Olowu, while speaking at the event, also reteirates the charged to ensure that all participants turn up at the forth comming election and for the ruling APC Party across all level to ensure continuity of good governance across all level.

The Community Development Committe (CDC) Chairman, Hon. Jabita Adeboye, speaking at the event charged all the Community Development Association, (CDA), Chairmen and the concerned communities Baales to ensure sustainability of the newly commisdioned road project by ensuring adequate care and maintenance of the road.

Delivering the Vote of thanks , the Leader of the House, Hon. Olufemi Mojeed Olayinka, appreciates the helmsman for the laudable project, he noted that he was proud to be part of history and happy to work with the Mayor.

He implored residents and Community Development Committe(CDC) and Community Development Association, (CDA) to take ownership of the road project and ensure proper maintenance of the road.

The Closing Prayer was rendered by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon.Fasali Adewale.

FIRST LADY, DR IBIJOKE SANWO-OLU, COMMISSIONER FOR ENVIRONMENT; HON TOKUNBO WAHAB AND COUNCIL CHAIRMAN HON. ENGR ABDULLAHI SESAN OLOWA LEAD ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION EXERCISE IN IBEJU-LEKKI.

Residents and stakeholders across Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area today joined the Lagos State First Lady, Dr (Mrs) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab and the council chairman of Ibeju Lekki LG, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, for a large-scale Environmental Sanitation Exercise aimed at promoting cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable communities across the axis.

The exercise, which drew participation from council officials, royal dignitaries,community leaders, youth groups, environmental health officers, and residents, focused on the clearing of drainage channels, removal of refuse from major roads and public spaces, and sensitisation on proper waste disposal practices within the fast-growing local government area.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, welcomed the First Lady and the Commissioner, and commended their continued commitment to environmental sustainability in the axis. He noted that Ibeju-Lekki, as one of the fastest-growing industrial and residential corridors in Lagos State, requires sustained collaboration between government at all levels and residents to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

In her remarks, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu urged residents to imbibe a culture of proper waste management and environmental responsibility, stressing that a clean environment is central to public health and the wellbeing of families. She commended the Ibeju-Lekki community for their enthusiastic turnout and encouraged sustained participation in future exercises.

Also speaking, Mr Tokunbo Wahab reiterated the Lagos State Government's commitment to environmental sanitation as a cornerstone of the THEMES+ Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration. He charged residents to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainage channels and open spaces, warning that such practices contribute significantly to flooding across the state.

The Executive Chairman assured residents that the Council would continue to partner with the State Government and relevant agencies to sustain environmental sanitation efforts across Ibeju-Lekki, and appealed to residents to make cleanliness a shared civic responsibility.

House Committee on Local Government Administration, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development Visits Ibeju Lekki Local Government on Project Inspection

Ibeju Lekki Local Government Council under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa hosted the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee Members led by Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon on a scheduled visit to inspect projects executed by his administration so far.

The Chairman of the council in his welcome address introduced his cabinet members and the legislative council to the committee before presenting his projects, programmes and interventions via the *SHIELD* agenda focused on Security,Health, Infrastructural Development, Local Economy and Digital Governance.

The *Security* aspect focuses on strengthening the safety and security of school children with the deployment of 82 security personnel across 28 public primary schools and 7 public secondary schools in Ibeju Lekki. Police Special Task Force were stationed across these schools for monitoring in collaboration with other local government within the division.

The administration also established the Community Security and Intelligence Network and deployed 70 officers across the seven wards in the Local Government. They are aimed towards community safety, forest monitoring and first line threat response.
Security Patrol Vehicles were provided to the Eleko Divisional Headquarters, the Elemoro Police Division and the Akodo Police Division to strengthen the operational capacity of the security agencies..

HEALTH
The administration has invested in quality health care infrastructure and public health interventions to improve health care delivery and services across communities in Ibeju Lekki.

IBEJU-LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT INTENSIFIES DRIVE FOR A CLEANER ENVIRONMENT THROUGH STATEWIDE SANITATION EXERCISE.

Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability by actively participating in the statewide Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise.
Leading the initiative, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, mobilized residents and stakeholders across key locations within the Local Government to promote Environmental cleanliness and public health awareness.

The exercise commenced along the Lekki–Epe Expressway at Desa/Onosa Town, where residents were engaged and sensitized on the importance of proper waste disposal and the need to maintain a hygienic Environment. The advocacy emphasized collective responsibility as a critical factor in achieving sustainable sanitation practices.

At Kara Market, where a considerable volume of refuse was identified, the Chairman took a hands-on approach by personally participating in the cleanup alongside sanitation officials and members of the Community, reinforcing the administration’s commitment through action.
The team also visited Ibeju-Agbe Community for on-the-spot Environmental assessments and further sensitization, encouraging residents to uphold cleanliness standards in their surroundings.

At Eleko Junction, traders were educated on the necessity of maintaining hygienic conditions, particularly in the handling and display of food items, as part of efforts to protect Public health.
A significant cleanup operation was carried out at Iberekodo/Museyo Beach, where accumulated waste was cleared, greatly enhancing the aesthetic and sanitary condition of the area.

The sanitation exercise recorded strong collaboration with key stakeholders, including the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), National Orientation Agency (NOA) and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), formerly known as KAI, as well as Council Legislators, Supervisors and members of the Management Team.

Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Engr, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, who also serves as the Conference 57 Chairman, reiterated his Administration’s resolve to sustain a cleaner and healthier environment. He urged residents to take ownership of their Communities by embracing regular sanitation practices and responsible waste management.
Ibeju-Lekki Local Government remains committed to fostering a safe, clean and environmentally friendly Community for all residents.

FLOOD PREVENTION DRIVE: IBEJU-LEKKI FLAGS OFF STRATEGIC DRAINAGE CLEARANCE PROJECT.

As part of proactive measures to safeguard Communities during the approaching rainy season, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has commenced an extensive drainage clearance and canal maintenance operation across key areas within the Council.

The exercise officially took off on Thursday along the Gbetu–Olowopopo–Ogunfayo axis with top Government functionaries in attendance.

The Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo, stood in for the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, to oversee the commencement of the project.

This ongoing effort represents another milestone in the administration’s sustained Environmental Management agenda, marking the fifth phase of canal intervention projects. The initiative, coordinated by the Supervising Councillor for Environment, Hon. Temitope Sofwan Ogungbo, is targeted at ensuring free water passage, reducing the risk of flooding and promoting a healthier Environment for residents.

The Council reaffirmed its resolve to remain ahead of seasonal challenges through timely infrastructure maintenance and Community-based environmental strategies.

ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION: IBEJU-LEKKI LOCAL GOVERNMENT SENSITIZED STAKEHOLDERS, RESIDENTS ON RE-INTRODUCTION OF MONTHLY SANITATION.

The Re-introduction of the Environmental Sanitation Monthly Exercise is a welcome development by Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State.

This statement is credited to the Vice Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, representative of the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, at the Sensitization and advocacy Meeting held with Stakeholders at the Council Secretariat, in igando oloja.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice Chairman emphasized on the need to actively participate in the forth coming Sanitation exercise scheduled to hold, every last Saturday of every month, within the hour of 6:30am to 8:00am prompt.

He Charged Royal Fathers, Baales, Market Leaders, Residents and all at the event to ensure that residents and members of their respective communities come out enmass to participate in the sanitation exercise and ensure that all refuse gathered during the exercise are dispose properly by engaging the service of PSP Refuse Collectors, LAWMA, and Keke Jaja Refuse collector Tricycle.

The Supervisor on Environmental Services and Waste Management, Hon. Ogungbo Temitope Sofwan, Speaking at the event, implored all to adhere strictly to the environmental services Laws and ensure full compliance with it.

He noted that indiscriminate dumping of refuse along the Express Walkways, T junction, inside water channels, burning of refuses, and burying refuse are all criminal offences, under the Environmental Laws.

He warned stakeholders at the gathering that Environmental Task force Team has been constituted to ensure that anyone caught dumping refuse, indiscriminately along the walk ways are made to face the penalty without the interferance of any authority from any quater.

He emphasized that the Environmental Sanitation Monitoring Team along with Sanitarians members of staff will continually pay a working visit to locations like Abijo, iberekodo, orimedu, Akodo, Eputu, Awoyaya, Bogije, Baba-Adisa near the Market, GRA by Labora, Ogunfayo, ibeju and others, to ensure compliance to these environmental Laws, similarly traders on all the walkways along respective locations will be banned likewise illegal trading on streets.

The Questions and answer session was also conducted during the meeting and stakeholders were given opportunities to ask questions related to the matter discussed with answers provided instantly.

IBEJU-LEKKI CHAIRMAN HOSTS EASTER BEACH FIESTA AT ELEKO BEACH.

The Supervisor for Infrastructure, Housing, and Tourism, Hon. Alonge Fatai, in his remarks, highlighted the strategic importance of the event as part of efforts to position Ibeju-Lekki as a prime destination for tourism and leisure. He noted that the impressive turnout and active participation of residents reflect the growing appeal of the Local Government as a hub for cultural and recreational activities.

The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, *Hon. Engr, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa (popularly known as JAJA),* hosted a colourful and vibrant Easter Beach Fiesta at the iconic Eleko Beach, bringing together residents, Community leaders, stakeholders and visitors from within and beyond the Local Government Area.

The well-attended event was a grand celebration of the Easter season, showcasing the rich cultural heritage, unity, and communal spirit that define Ibeju-Lekki.

The beachfront came alive with an exciting blend of music, dance, recreational activities, and social interactions, creating a memorable experience for all attendees.

In his address, the Executive Chairman expressed profound appreciation for the massive turnout and the enthusiastic participation of residents. He reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering unity, inclusiveness, and the overall well-being of the people. According to him, events of this nature serve as vital platforms for strengthening social bonds and promoting peaceful coexistence across communities.

He further emphasized that the Easter Beach Fiesta aligns with his administration’s vision of holistic development one that not only prioritizes infrastructure and economic growth but also promotes social engagement, tourism and community recreation.

The Executive Chairman, who visibly expressed satisfaction with the seamless organization and success of the event, commended the Legislative Council and members of his cabinet, Community leaders and all stakeholders for their support and dedication towards making the fiesta a resounding success.
