๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ณร‰douard Mendy ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ: โ€œI am not surprised coming from an institution like the CAF, which unfortunately does not move forward as fast as its football does. The people involved in this sport in Africa give their best every day, all around the world, to put African football at the highest level of world football.

Unfortunately, there is a small group of people who decide the fate of our sport on this continent. People who are simply not up to the task for several reasons. This is not only since this Africa Cup (2025). Letโ€™s say this AFCON was the final straw.

It is clear that in the coming weeks or months, this institution will have to question itself and carry out a clear overhaul. Today, it is a flawed institution that governs us and does not put us in the best conditions in the eyes of the world.โ€

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) dismissed its Director of Refereeing, Dรฉsirรฉ Noumandiez Douรฉ, following a formal protest by the Royal Moroccan ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Football Federation (FRMF) over controversial officiating in the 2025 WAFCON final between Morocco ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ and Nigeria ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌ.

Nigeria won the match 3-2, but it was marred by disputed VAR decisions ๐Ÿ“บ including a reversed penalty for Morocco and a penalty awarded to Nigeria which led to allegations of โ€œcritical errors.โ€

As a result, Douรฉ was reportedly removed from his position as part of efforts to address these complaints. โŒ

When the result didnโ€™t favor them, they did everything possible to punish others. The most frustrating part is that the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) now appears to control CAF.... whatever they say seems to be final.

This is absolutely unacceptable in modern football. ๐Ÿ’”

Say no to the dictatorship of Royal Moroccan Football Federation in African football ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

This is truly disappointing and frustrating. The integrity of Confederation of African Football must be protected, not controlled.

In the world of African football, certain figures leave an indelible mark on history. For Andrรฉ Ayew๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ญ, one of these figures is undoubtedly Samuel Eto'o ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฒ. In a statement full of admiration and respect, the Ghanaian international was straightforward:

"He's my big brother. No discussion. He's the boss."

This sincere testimony goes beyond a simple compliment. Ayew describes a leader, a man of character, a player capable of making a difference when all seemed lost: "When we said there was a match and we had to win, you knew Samuel would take care of it."

This almost mystical confidence in Eto'o speaks volumes about the impact the Cameroonian striker had on his peers and younger generations. Ayew highlighted what made Eto'o a role model: his pride, stature, and confidence.

He wasn't just a great player; he was a symbol. A man who proudly claimed Africans could compete with the world's best. The facts speak for themselves: three Champions Leagues, two AFCON titles, major titles with FC Barcelona and Inter Milanโ€”Eto'o won everything.

Beyond the trophies, he embodied a mentality, an uncompromising African pride. By paying tribute to Samuel Eto'o, Andrรฉ Ayew reminds everyone that he wasn't just a great player, but a true leader, a beacon for an entire continent.

A reminder that Etoโ€™o has 4UCL with Real Madrid, Barcelona twice and Inter Milan not 3. He played 3matches for Real Madrid at the group stage and was loaned to Mallorca, but was still in the list of Real Madrid.

The Champions League final where I played centre back against Manchester United is one of the scariest days of my career. I had never played that position for Barcelona before, and suddenly it was the biggest game possible. Inside, I was really, really afraid of making a mistake that could cost us the trophy.

Even Samuel Etoโ€™o was touching my knee before the match and saying I should not play there. The coach believed my size, strength and passing could help the team, so I accepted it as a sacrifice. I told myself that if my teammates needed me in that role, I had to be brave. In the end, we won, and that risk became one of the proudest moments of my career.

A LEGACY THAT LIVES ON ๐Ÿฆ…โšฝ
Today we celebrate the life and impact of Joseph Yobo โ€” former Super Eagles captain, devoted husband, proud father, and a true servant of Nigerian football.
From wearing the green and white jersey with pride to leading the team with courage and discipline, Yobo represented consistency, resilience, and patriotism. As one of Nigeriaโ€™s most capped players, he stood tall in major international tournaments, inspiring millions of young footballers across the nation.
Beyond the pitch, he has remained a role model โ€” showing that leadership is not just about titles, but about character, humility, and responsibility. As a family man, he continues to embody values that extend far beyond football.
His journey reminds us that greatness is built on dedication, sacrifice, and love for country.
Thank you, Joseph Yobo, for the memories, the leadership, and the lasting impact on Nigerian football. ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฌโšฝ
Whatโ€™s your favorite Super Eagles memory of Yobo?

When I played at Arsenal people saw the goals, the trophies and the Golden Boots, and they thought I must be happy, but inside I was still that little boy trying to please his dad. I always wanted approval from someone, from my father, from my team mates, from the fans, and my mood depended on what other people felt about me.

I even celebrated assists more than goals, because giving to others and seeing their joy made me smile in a way scoring never did. The goal was rage, power, duty, but the pass was kindness, connection, and I think that shows who I really was inside, a people pleaser who did not know how to ask himself a simple question, are you happy today.

TEARS IN MY EYES ๐Ÿฅบ

๐๐„๐–| 15 minutes that changed my life - Victor Osimhen (Players Tribune);

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "One day somebody told me, โ€œThe national team is coming back to Lagos in two weeks.โ€

I said, โ€œWhenever they arrive, call me.โ€

The day came, and I ran from my work, got on the bus, and went straight to the stadium. When I arrived....

600 kids. Everybody begging to get seen.

There were so many kids that Emmanuel Amunike, the coach, got on the microphone and said, โ€œI cannot see all of you today. Itโ€™s impossible. We will be in Abuja in two weeks. If you KNOW you are good โ€” REALLY good โ€” then come to Abuja and see me.โ€

Abuja was 9 hours away by car. And I didnโ€™t have a car. I knew this guy, who I guess you could call an agent. But like a neighborhood agent. I told him, โ€œItโ€™s over.โ€

Two weeks later, he called me and said, โ€œI borrowed a car. Letโ€™s go.โ€

I said, โ€œWhere are we going to stay?โ€

He said, โ€œDonโ€™t worry, I have a brother in Abuja.โ€

The morning before we were supposed to leave, I got so nervous. I had never left my town before. It was comfortable. Four hours went by, and the agent was calling me.

I told him, โ€œForget it. Iโ€™m not going nowhere. Iโ€™m cool here.โ€

And thatโ€™s when my father heard what was going on, and he said, โ€œYou need to go.โ€

There was no big speech. He just said, โ€œYou need to go.โ€

And I knew that he was right. I left home with a backpack and two pairs of clothes. The one I was wearing, and a green kit in my bag. Lucky green. We drove to Abuja in the oldest car you can imagine, and we arrived at midnight.

The next morning, the sun came up, and I saw 1 million kids with a dream.

Maybe 1 million is an exaggeration, but not by much. There must have been 900 kids waiting outside this stadium. The first day, I didnโ€™t even get on the pitch. The second day, one of the coaches finally pointed at me.

โ€œGreen shirt. Letโ€™s go. You have 15 MINUTES.โ€

Just 15 minutes to change my life. I knew that the only way to impress them was to run. So I ran until I was sweating blood.

I ended up scoring 2 goals in 15 minutes.

I thought that maybe I had a chance. But then the coaches got on a microphone, and they addressed the crowd. They called out some names, and I did not hear my name. Everybody started walking to the parking lot.

My dream was dead. I was just about to get in the car when I heard people shouting.

โ€œHey! Hey! The guy in green!โ€

Huh???

I turned around, and some kids were waving to me.

I pointed to my chest, like in the movies.

Me???

I looked behind me.

โ€œThe guy in green!โ€

Lucky green.

I ran back over to them, and they said, โ€œHey, the coach wants to see you. The team doctor told him you were the guy who scored two goals. Are you the guy?โ€

I said, โ€œIโ€™m the guy!!! Iโ€™M THE GUY!!!!โ€

I went back into the stadium and the doctor was pointing at me and holding up two fingers.

He said, โ€œThatโ€™s the kid.โ€

Two fingers saved me.

If the team doctor didnโ€™t do that, I would not be a footballer today. I would probably be at the bottom of a well.

Still, the trials went on and on. If you had โ€œmade itโ€ then you stayed with the team at a hotel. But I was still staying with my agentโ€™s brother at his house. I was helping take their kids to school and washing up. I remember I was so shy that I didnโ€™t understand that the food that his wife was putting on the table was supposed to be for me. I came home from training, and I saw the food and I thought it was leftovers. I would break off a piece of bread and take it out behind the house and eat it in secret.

One day, his wife was cooking and she said, โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? You donโ€™t like my food?โ€

I said, โ€œItโ€™s for me???โ€

She said, โ€œWhat? Yes, of course! You must be starving!โ€

When I finally made it onto the team for real, and they gave me a bed in the hotel, I told her, โ€œThank you. You saved me. I will always pray for you. Youโ€™re family to me now.โ€

When I finally made it onto the team for real, and they gave me a bed in the hotel, I told her, โ€œThank you. You saved me. I will always pray for you. Youโ€™re family to me now.โ€

My life changed so fast. The next year, we went to play in the U-17 World Cup in Chile, and I exploded. I scored 10 goals in 7 games and won the Golden Boot. We were world champions. Nobody expected it. Even I did not expect it. I remember when I came back from the World Cup, they gave me a little bit of money. I was finally a millionaire, but in naira unfortunately. Hahahah. So a few thousand Euros. I called my sisters and said, โ€œI am moving you all from a one-room house to a two-room house. Everything is taken care of. All I ask from you is to include me in your prayers.โ€

A few years later, I signed for Wolfsburg and I was blessed with more money than I ever saw in my dreams. I remember I was refreshing the bank app on my phone. Refresh. Still poor. Refresh. Still poor. Refresh...... and the number changed. The number got big. It looked fake. I was going nuts. Literally, I was jumping around going nuts.

Two years before that, I was selling water bottles for 10 cents.

On a good day Iโ€™d make maybe $2.

Now I saw a million. On my phone.
