Lagos State Empowers Agricultural Stakeholders at the 2026 Pre-Season Training
The Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems Lagos Agriculture, in collaboration with the Lagos State Agricultural Development Authority (LSADA), has officially kicked off its 2026 Pre-Season Training.
The event, themed "Driving Agriculture Productivity and Food Systems Transformation through Resilient Extension Service Delivery," commenced today at the Phijul Events Gallery in Agege.
Key Highlights:
Keynote Address: The Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisoye Abisola, delivered the keynote speech and formally declared the training open.
Celebrating Excellence: Top-performing extension agents from the Western, Eastern, and Far-Eastern Agroecological zones of Lagos State were honoured with Awards of Excellence for their dedication to grassroots agricultural development.
Digital Innovation: In a major move to bridge the communication gap, the Honourable Commissioner launched four new mobile helplines. These lines will be featured on the "Lagos Farmer" and "Bọluyo" radio programs, offering a direct link for smallholders and agripreneurs to get expert support.
Strategic Partnerships: These helplines are powered by a partnership between LSADA and OneFarm (led by Andrew Humber-Osofisan), focusing on regenerative agriculture and digital transformation across the agri-food value chain.
Distinguished Guests:
The event saw a gathering of key stakeholders, including:
Dr Oluwarotimi Fashola (Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture)
Emmanuel Fatai Audu (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture)
Hon. Olajide Babatunde (Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture)
Aderonke Toju-Tubi (Programme Manager/CEO of LSADA)
The Pre-Season Training is a strategic kickoff to the farming calendar. Its primary purpose is to synchronise the state's agricultural goals with the actual practices of extension agents and farmers before the main planting season begins.
The Technical Session started with a Technical Presentation titled 'ACCELERATING AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTIVITY AND FOOD SYSTEMS TRANSFORMATION THROUGH RESILIENT EXTENSION SERVICE DELIVERY IN NIGERIA' by Dr Fadlullah Olayiwola Issa from the Extension Programme, National Agricultural Extension and Research Liaison Services (NAERLS), Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria.
