*AKOKO-EDO CHAIRMAN-ELECT, HON. ROBERT AKANDE, STORMS BENIN CITY TO IGNITE THE SPIRIT OF OUR FOREST GUARDS*
We have no doubt whatsoever: Hon. Robert Akande is ushering in something unprecedented in the history of Akoko-Edo Local Government. Already, the impact of his leadership is yielding tangible dividends, and a powerful tide of hope is rising: a hope that assures our sons and daughters that their lives, their future, and the very soul of our land shall be safeguarded with iron resolve.
In a defining moment of visionary leadership, the Chairman-Elect of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Hon. Robert Akande, paid a strategic and morale-boosting visit to the gallant sons and daughters of Akoko-Edo currently undergoing Forest Guard training at the Nigeria Police Training School, Ogidan, Benin City, Edo State.
This was no ordinary courtesy call. It was a deliberate act of solidarity; a bold reaffirmation that the incoming administration will place the welfare, empowerment, and security of every Akoko-Edo indigene at the very heart of governance. Hon. Akande came not merely to observe, but to inspire, to strengthen, and to send a clear message: under his watch, no son or daughter of our soil who chooses to serve will ever stand alone.
Addressing the trainees with the fire of a true leader, Hon. Akande paid glowing tribute to their courage, patriotism, discipline, and selfless willingness to serve. He equally extended profound appreciation to the management and instructors of the Nigeria Police Training School, as well as the gallant officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies whose dedication is forging competent, disciplined protectors of our communities.
With the clarity of a man who understands the weight of responsibility, the Chairman-Elect declared that his presence was to fortify the morale of these young warriors and to charge them to remain focused, disciplined, and unshakeable in their sacred duty. He reminded them that security remains the greatest battle confronting Akoko-Edo : a battle against the twin evils of kidnapping, cultism, and armed robbery that have for too long sought to hold our people hostage and stall the progress of our beloved local government.
He challenged the trainees to regard their assignment not as mere employment, but as a sacred covenant with the people of Akoko-Edo. He assured them that the incoming administration will ensure they are adequately equipped, properly motivated, and fully supported to discharge their responsibilities with excellence. He urged them never to allow the poison of discouragement or the sting of negative voices to dim the light of their purpose.
In words that rang with conviction, Hon. Akande declared:
“My visit today is to encourage you and to let the whole of Akoko-Edo know that we are proud of you. As you prepare to pass out, remain disciplined, uphold integrity, and discharge your duties without fear or favour. You are ambassadors of our local government, and we believe you will make us proud. Your responsibility is critical because the security and safety of our people rest squarely on your commitment and professionalism.”
As a tangible demonstration of support and appreciation, Hon. Akande presented cash gifts to the trainees; a practical expression of the new dawn of care and recognition that his leadership represents.
Speaking on behalf of the trainees, one of the officers expressed deep gratitude for the thoughtful visit and the generous gesture. The young officers pledged to serve Nigeria and Akoko-Edo with diligence, professionalism, and unwavering courage. They offered fervent prayers for God’s continued protection, divine wisdom, and resounding success upon Hon. Robert Akande as he prepares to assume the mantle of leadership.
The Commandant of the training school himself could not hide his admiration. He described Hon. Akande’s visit as the first of its kind during his tenure, noting that the gesture had significantly elevated the morale of the trainees. He called on other local government chairmen across Edo State to emulate this exemplary leadership by identifying, supporting, and standing solidly behind their sons and daughters serving in various security formations.
This historic visit stands as living proof of Hon. Robert Akande’s unwavering commitment to strengthening security architecture, empowering the youth, and elevating the welfare of every Akoko-Edo indigene. It is a clear signal that collaboration between the local government and our security institutions will no longer be rhetoric, but a living, breathing reality.
Day by day, the difference is becoming clearer. Under the purposeful, people-centred leadership of Hon. Robert Akande Olumole, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area will not merely recover: it will shine again, brighter and stronger than ever before. The era of decisive action has begun.
