LASPA COMMENCES ENFORCEMENT OF 2026 PARKING PERMIT, WARNS DEFAULTING CUSTOMERS

The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has officially commenced enforcement of the 2026 parking permit regulations across all its operational zones in Lagos State to ensure compliance with approved parking regulations, promote accountability and strengthen the effective management of parking activities across the State.

The General Manager, LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, who disclosed this today, said the commencement of the enforcement marks the end of the prolonged grace period granted to customers to regularise their activities and obtain their 2026 parking permits, stressing that the extension was intended to provide sufficient opportunity for all affected customers to meet their obligations and comply with the requirements of the Authority.

According to her, the enforcement exercise is aimed at ensuring full compliance with the laws governing the transport sector while streamlining parking management across Lagos. She expressed concern that a significant number of customers are yet to obtain their 2026 parking permits despite several appeals, direct communications, reminders, and the extended grace period provided by LASPA.

The General Manager explained that the Authority had earlier distributed the 2026 Demand Notices to all registered customers, clearly stating the applicable fees, requirements, and procedures for obtaining the 2026 parking permits. She urged customers who are yet to regularise their operations to take immediate steps to fulfil their obligations and avoid sanctions arising from continued non-compliance.

Mrs. Adelabu emphasised that the enforcement exercise is not intended to be punitive, but a necessary measure to restore order, accountability, and efficiency within Lagos’ parking ecosystem. She noted that valid parking permits and accurate customer records are essential to enabling LASPA to effectively plan, monitor, regulate, and manage parking infrastructure and services across the State.

The General Manager further disclosed that defaulting customers on the 2026 Demand Notices would be liable to severe penalties, including substantial fines and immediate suspension of operations, in accordance with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018 and urged them to immediately regularise their operations and obtain the required parking permits.

Mrs. Adelabu assured that LASPA personnel are available to provide swift assistance and guidance, including support with the online payment and registration portals.

While reaffirming the Authority’s commitment towards an efficient and sustainable parking system for residents, businesses, and visitors to Lagos State, she appealed to members of the public to cooperate with enforcement officers and report any unauthorised parking activities to LASPA.

Indiscriminate parking, LASPA sanitizes Emmanuel Street, Maryland

The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), yesterday sanitized and successfully restored free flow of traffic along Emmanuel Street, Maryland following an enforcement on indiscriminate parking in the area.

The General Manager, LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, while making this disclosure, said that the observed indiscriminate parking was due to an event which attracted a large number of attendees at the Leola Hotel, Emmanuel Street.

She noted that the high turnout resulted in significant parking overflow, with several vehicles double-parked along Emmanuel Street and at the adjoining junction, causing severe vehicular congestion and disrupting the free flow of traffic.

Mrs. Adelabu, further noted that, LASPA's enforcement team swiftly intervened to restore order and sanity by enforcing compliance with the Lagos State parking regulations.

According to her, a total of fourteen 14 vehicles found in violation of parking regulations during the operation, were clamped, adding that the enforcement exercise significantly eased traffic congestion along Emmanuel Street and its adjoining junction.

She informed that LASPA officers apart from carrying out enforcement on indiscriminate parking also used the opportunity to enlighten the hotel staff, motorists and the event attendees on responsible parking practices as well as the importance of complying with the State's parking regulations.

Management of Leola Hotel was penalized for the indiscriminate parking by the State Parking Authority, after which all clamped vehicles were released in accordance with established rules.

She therefore, urged operators of event centres and hospitality business owners to ensure they make adequate parking arrangement for all their events and and comply with all parking regulations to avoid traffic disruptions and enforcement actions.

LASPA Intensifies Enforcement Against Illegal Parking in Lagos.

As part of ongoing efforts to promote orderly parking, improve traffic flow, and ensure unobstructed access for all road users, the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has intensified parking enforcement across the State.

The General Manager LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, dropped this hint while speaking on the Authority’s efforts in ensuring proper parking.

According to her, the Monitoring and Enforcement Unit of LASPA, recently carried out enforcement to sanitize the illegal parking activities at Akintoye road along the Ajeromi General Hospital, Apapa.

She disclosed that the enforcement focused on vehicles parked in designated “No Parking Zones” became necessary after an extensive public enlightenment campaign and the installation of road signages along the Akintoye road corridor.

Mrs. Adelabu, noted that the operation was carried out peacefully and professionally in accordance with standard procedures without disruption of public order, emphasizing that vehicles found in violation of the parking regulations were attended to with towing where necessary.

She further observed that one of the Authority’s ‘No Parking signs’ installed along the corridor was missing and warned residents/motorists to desist from theft/vandalization of public infrastructures as perpetrators would be made to face the full wrath of the law when caught.

The General Manager, of the Parking Authority, therefore urged motorists to comply with all parking regulations, observe traffic signages, utilise only designated parking facilities and always cooperate with LASPA enforcement officers.
