A village founded by Akpan Ebio Inua (Akpan-Ata – the man who built a complete house in a single day) the first son of Ọ̄bọñ Ebio Inua (Ọ̄bọñ Ikpa Isọñ) the founder of Ikpa Ibekwe Clan of Ikot Abasi.

THE VILLAGE YOUTH IS SUBJECT TO THE VILLAGE COUNCIL. - Enshrined in IAYDA's Constitution.

The village council has setup on the 29th of September 2017 a Five Man Committee to shoulder the affairs of the youth of the village and conduct an election that will usher in a new IAYDA's Executives Members.

The members of the committee are:
1. Ubong Magnus - Chairman
2. Akparawa Cmr. Sunday James - Secretary
3. Mr. Uwem Umoh - Member
4. Samuel E. Usoro - Member
5. Nkereuwem K. James

***Notice***
The Executive Members of Ikot Akpan-Ata Youth Development Association that were sworn in to office in September 2015 have been dissolved after the expiration of their tenure of two (2) years (2015 - 2017) as stipulated by the IAYDA Constitution.
The Village Council Executives are now in-charge of the youth affairs till youth election take place and new Executives Members are voted in to office.

Ikot Akpan-Ata is one of the ten (10) villages of Ikpa Ibekwe Clan in Ikot Abasi LGA of Akwa Ibom State.

The village was founded circa *800s A.D by Akpan Ebio Inua (Akpan Ata, the man who built a complete house in just one single day) the first son of Obong Ebio Inua (Obong Ikpa-Isong), the founder of Ikpa Ibekwe Clan.


Though, in the course of time some families migrated out and some were adopted.
The current stable Ekpuk are:
1. Inuen Akan
2. Ndeng Eben Akan
3. Umo Nkene Akan
4. Ekpotu Umo
5. Akpadiaha
6. Ekpa Umonse

Former Director General of the the NAFDAC and ex minister of Information, Professor Dora Akunyili, has died according to a family source.
Dr. Akunyili died in an India Cancer Specialist Hospital where she has been receiving treatment. She was aged 59.
May her soul Rest In Peace.
