Today, I join the good people of the Ilorin Emirate, both at home and in the diaspora, in extending my heartfelt congratulations to Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki on his well-deserved turbaning as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin.

This historic occasion is a testament to your unwavering commitment to Islam, your exemplary character, and your invaluable service to the Ilorin Emirate. I have no doubt that your wealth of knowledge, wisdom, and dedication will continue to strengthen the unity, peace, and progress of our beloved Emirate.

I also warmly felicitate with our highly revered father, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, on the successful and memorable ceremony. Your visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to preserving the rich cultural and Islamic heritage of the Ilorin Emirate remain a source of pride and inspiration to us all.

As Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki assumes this noble responsibility, I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants him good health, abundant wisdom, divine guidance, and a long life filled with barakah to lead the Muslim Ummah and serve the Emirate with excellence. May Allah continue to strengthen our Emir, preserve the peace, harmony, and unity of Ilorin, and bless our Emirate with enduring prosperity.

DEMOCRACY DAY 2026: KWARA DESERVES PEACE, SECURITY, AND THE TRUE DIVIDENDS OF DEMOCRACY

Today, as Nigeria commemorates Democracy Day, I join millions of Nigerians in celebrating our democratic journey and honouring the sacrifices of those who fought for the democratic freedom we enjoy today. While this occasion calls for celebration, it also presents an opportunity for sober reflection on the realities confronting our people.

For many residents of Kwara State, this Democracy Day is marked by growing concerns over insecurity, economic hardship, and the slow pace of development in many communities. Our State, Once celebrated for its peace, harmony, and communal solidarity, now finds itself confronted by disturbing incidents of kidnappings, attacks on communities, and the abduction of traditional rulers, leaving many families traumatized and uncertain about the future. Several communities continue to live in fear, while many victims and their families endure the painful reality of captivity and insecurity.

No society can truly prosper when its people are unable to go about their daily activities in safety. Farmers should be able to cultivate their farms without fear. Traders should be able to travel freely. Parents should be confident that their children are safe. The protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government, and all stakeholders must work together to restore lasting peace and security across Kwara State.

As we reflect on the state of our democracy, many residents of Ilorin East and South Federal Constituency are increasingly yearning for a new approach to representation one that is closer to the people, more responsive to their concerns, and more deliberate in delivering measurable results. Across the constituency, citizens continue to express concerns about unemployment, economic hardship, youth empowerment, and the need for greater federal presence in our communities. These concerns have fueled growing conversations about the future and the type of leadership required to effectively champion the interests of the constituency.

While democratic representation is a continuous process, many constituents believe that Ilorin East and South Federal Constituency deserves stronger advocacy, greater visibility, and more impactful engagement in addressing the challenges confronting the people. Democracy is measured not by promises made, but by lives touched, opportunities created, and communities transformed.

In this regard, I remain encouraged by the resilience and optimism of our people. Through my engagements across the constituency over the past four years, I have listened to the aspirations of our youths, women, traditional institutions, community leaders, artisans, students, and traders. Through the Saka Eletu Foundation and other humanitarian initiatives, we have continued to demonstrate our commitment to service, community development, and people-centered leadership.

I firmly believe that Ilorin East and South Federal Constituency deserves a future built on responsive leadership, effective representation, economic empowerment, improved security, and sustainable development. Together, we can build a constituency where opportunities are expanded, voices are heard, and the welfare of the people remains the highest priority.

On this Democracy Day, I call on all stakeholders, regardless of political affiliation, to unite in the collective interest of our people and our state. Let us place the welfare of our citizens above politics and work together to secure a brighter future for coming generations.

Above all, I pray that Almighty Allah protects Kwara State and all its people. May He grant freedom to those still in captivity, comfort families affected by insecurity, strengthen our security personnel, and guide our leaders with wisdom and compassion. May He bless Ilorin East and South Federal Constituency with peace, progress, prosperity, and purposeful leadership.

I am deeply honoured and humbled by the trust and confidence reposed in me as the PDP candidate for the upcoming general election. This victory is not mine alone, it belongs to every youth, woman, elder, and supporter who believes in our shared vision for a better constituency.

For the past 5 years, we have remained committed to community development, empowerment, education support, humanitarian outreach, and impactful grassroots programs across our communities.

This marks another important step in our collective journey toward purposeful leadership, effective representation, and sustainable development for our people.

I remain committed to serving with integrity, dedication, and a clear vision for progress. Together, we can build a constituency that truly works for everyone.

It is with deep sorrow and total submission to the will of Allah (SWT), we mourn the passing of our Chief Imam, a revered scholar, spiritual father and a pillar of Islamic guidance whose life was devoted to the service of Allah and humanity.

The late Chief Imam was more than a religious leader. He was a symbol of peace, wisdom and unity in Ilorin Emirate and beyond. Through decades of steadfast leadership, he nurtured generations with sound Islamic knowledge, moral discipline and unwavering commitment to justice and compassion. His counsel was sought by leaders and commoners alike and his presence brought calm in times of uncertainty.

One of his most unforgettable legacies was his unique, soothing recitation of the Holy Qur’an. His voice carried a rare tranquility, soft yet commanding, gentle yet profound. When he recited, hearts were humbled, souls were drawn closer to Allah and the mosque would fall into a sacred silence, as though the verses themselves were descending anew. His tilawah was not merely heard, it was felt, comforting the distressed, awakening the heedless and strengthening the faith of believers.

Even in moments of difficulty, his recitation reminded us of Allah’s mercy, patience and promise. It was a voice that inspired reflection, repentance and hope, a voice that will be dearly missed but never forgotten.

As we bid farewell to this noble servant of Allah, we pray that his lifelong devotion to the Qur’an becomes an intercessor for him in the hereafter. May Allah forgive his shortcomings, expand his grave with light and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus among the righteous scholars and the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ).

May Allah also grant comfort and strength to the Emir of Ilorin, the Ulama, his family, the Ilorin Muslim community and the entire Ummah.

Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.

Allahumma’ghfir lahu warhamhu, waj‘alil Qur’āna shafī‘an lahu. Ameen.
