MORE THAN 128 THOUSAND PVCs FOR COLLECTION: INEC TAKES VOTER'S CARDS TO 62 REGISTRATION AREAS OF THE FCT
In the build up to February 21st, 2026 Area Council Election, the Commission has commenced the PVC collection exercise of more than 128 thousand voters across the 62 Registration Areas (Electoral Wards) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The exercise, which is a key component of the election process, started on Thursday, 22nd January 2026 at the Registration Area level in the FCT, and will run through to Monday, 26th January, 2026, from 9.00am to 3.00pm daily. The PVC collection will continue at the INEC offices in the six (6) Area Councils, rounding up a few days to the council poll.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC -FCT, Malam Aminu Kasimu Idris, at a recent stakeholders' engagement stated that a total of 128,396 PVCs are available for collection for newly registered voters as well as voters that requested for transfers and updates to their registration details. He added that PVCs from previous registration exercises are also available for collection.
He warned that PVC collection would not be issued by proxy, but to only the rightful owners appearing in person at the INEC designated PVC collection centres. He called on newly registered voters in the FCT, and others from the previous registrations but yet to collect their Permanent Voter's Cards to take advantage of the exercise to enable them partake in the forthcoming election in the FCT.
